I'm so disappointed I could cry. Thanks to these boards, I've just learned that there's a good chance CBR will be closed when we arrive in early December. Something about re-habbing OPR.

Here's my question....why close over 2000 rooms just to update a food court that people complain about anyway?

I wish they would just keep the resort open and give guests discount coupons to dine at another resort.

AARRRGGGHHHH

I would say it's a combination of refurbishment and the economy. Remember it was last fall that they closed down Port Orleans. Since they were going to refurbish it anyway, they probably figured they could also save money by closing the entire resort down for a few months like they did POFQ and most of Riverside last year. They probably could refurbish with it open.

We came this close to making reservations for Thanksgiving at CBR this year. Only the great AP rates at AKL changed our minds last week.

I question too why it will take 3 to 4 months. If they put a full time crew on it, why so long? They should be able to complete that in a month. I think it was more an economic decision to close completely. They have lots of empty hotel rooms for this period, so why not close down the entire resort and move everyone into the empty rooms at other resorts, just like they did last year with PO. They had to know this rehab was coming, why announce a total close a month before? I bet if the resort was full, they wouldn't be closing it completely, they would have come up with an alternative plan.

:( I am also very unhappy----so much so that I want to cry.

CBR was our first and ONLY choice of resort when we booked our trip for Oct 8-13.
We stayed there in 1997 and loved it so much...........

I just hate this having to wait untill Disney calls me.It really, really stinks

It sounds like the renovations are going to be pretty extensive. They're putting in a real full-service restaurant, unlike the one they have now. The one that's there now was an after-thought put in after the resort opened. The kitchen isn't even adjacent to the dining room. The cooks use the cooking facilities for the food court.

I'm sure that part of the reason they're just closing it is because Disney wants all guests to be happy and come back. If they checked in and found out there was no food and no gift shop (since it's in the same building), they'd be anything but happy.
