RE: Add-ons

I look at it regularly. I think it is a mixture of early buyers cashing out having raised their kids on a decade of Disney vacations and now recovering or maybe even more than recovering everything they paid into DVC. The others I suspect are those who bought during more prosperous times and now need to adjust there finances. It has been a busy listing for the year that I have been watching it.

We bought our OKW from Pat there. First rate experience!

The economy is not so good in a lot of areas. A lot of people around here (MA) are unemployed right now, and new jobs are few and far between. Maybe people are selling their DVC because they have to, not because they want to:(

I hadn't looked at it in months, and just went on today to see what was available for a friend. I was shocked! The last few times I looked, there was NEVER any Boardwalk resales. As soon as they became available, they were snatched up. I was amazed to see the number of Boardwalk resales, at good prices no less, available. I wish I could afford more points. It has to be the economy, don't you think?

Oh, I definately think it is the economy. Up here in MI we are so auto-dependant and so many of our friends and family are unemployed. My own son who has a BS in Mechanical engineering and can speak Japanese is working at a retail store!

I agree with the poster that said that these listings were probably bought during the boom and now that things are shaken, DVC would be the first thing to go.

Also, it could also be for divorce settlements, etc.

That's a shame, but totally the fault of the economy!!! It's cyclical, though. I take it that he's a recent grad? My sister and I both have BSME's and we both got out of school during the boom times. We each had a good run of it as engineers before we persued other things (I got an MBA and she went to Law School). Tell your son not to lose faith. Times will be good again and he'll get an engineering job. I keep telling my husband (also an engineer) that you KNOW times are bad when the engineers are out of work:(

I wanted to add that one of DH's friends who is a BSEE worked retail for a few years when he got out of school during the last recession (early '90's). He's gone on to have a very successful engineering career since.
