is there any way to avoid the mass build up for those heading to Pandora vs those heading elsewhere? Like should we get there closer to 9 and be able to walk in easier since the Pandora crowds have gotten through the turnstile?

Also, where are we held if they let us in before 9.

EE is a must do but we aren't gong to FP it. Also, DD is sooo close to 44inches. Anyone know how strict they are?

Never been to AK so a bit lost!

Thanks!

I can only speak to EE and height. "strictness" is based on the CM you get at the time. Going at the beginning of the day is best since we are taller at the start of the day, before gravity pushes us down. Practise at home with your child to stand tall, not shrink away from the height bar. Also, prepare your child for disappointment just in case.

If your daughter does not hit the bar, she will not be able to ride. There's no leniency, as it's a safety issue.

I would arrive not too long before 9 and just hang back a bit. Once they let you in, you will be some of the very few people heading that direction and it should be a walk on for a while.

We did this in August. Literally 99% of people line up to the left of the tree of life. Just walk over to the rope going towards Asia and Dino land and you can leisurely walk all the way to Everest and ride it at least twice as a walk on. We did this then went to Dino land and it was also empty we did EE twice and all the Dino rides before 930

Sounds good! I won't rush too much in the morning. We are coming from AKL and was even contemplating taking a Minnie Van to be sure we were up with the crowds. Our first FP is for FoP/Navi at 10:20 so I want to take advantage of the possibly quieter areas of the park before heading into chaos. DD is SO close to 44 inches. 28 days to go - here's hoping! Oh, should mention, Everest is mainly for my son, who is tall enough.....just didn't want to FP it with being unsure of DD ability to ride as well. I'll take her on the spinning ride if she doesn't make it and be sure to get a RS pass.

As far as the height, here's something we were told by a worker at a local park when my nephew just missed the height. They had the bar that comes around and it hit his hair but went across his head as it didn't quite touch the top of his head. The worker told him to put his feet completely back against the wall (he was close, but not right against it), stand straight, and take a deep breath and hold it while she brought the bar around, and it worked. Gave him that little bit of a boost that he needed.

You don't need to RD if your goal is EE. The line for that ride will stay relatively short for the first 30-45 minutes. So even if you show up at 9:05am, you'll be fine.

As noted above, Disney is strict on height.

When our son was about three and a half we went on Big Thunder Mountain. While in queue, after we had already passed the height check, a CM checked him a second time. He was still tall enough.

OK. I'm really Type A and I'm trying to get my bearings and studying maps, specifically google maps where I can "walk" around. Will it be clear how we get to Everest from the main gates? I'd rather not go through the Dinoland area first b/c my kids will get distracted. Also, EE will be the mission at RD, but can we stop and take pics a Tree of Life?

Head straightaway to EE. You likely can reach the Tree of Life/ Discovery Island area before the park officially opens, and take a picture or two while you wait. Then cross through Discovery Island into Asia, and turn right toward EE. Our family's record is riding 5 times in a row before the later-arriving crowds met us there. It was a highlight of DD(then 7)'s week! You can meet Pocahontas with limited lines later in the morning.

She must have a strong stomach!!!! That's so cool!

We missed rope drop at AK by like 15 minutes on Tuesday and the lines to get in the park were still pretty long (which we skipped because of the AP line), but once inside it wasn't bad, it was like normal. We walked right onto Everest. So if you're there for rope drop I would just hang back a bit to stay out of the way of the stampede towards FOP, haha.

Check out Joshes recent post at easywdw. He just did a write up on on AK RD.
