Whileme and my wife are overjoyed with the DVC we are also thinking of purchasing an addition Timeshare. My question then is it possible or better to go straight through RCI or to buy into a resort? I would not mind others comments on this.

It is not possible to buy directly from RCI or II, you must buy into a resort or resort system. I'd suggest you look at the mini systems that give you other advantages. Bluegreen, Wyndham and Worldmark come to mind. I think Marriott can be the best option overall for such a situation but given their recent changes, it might be a little more complicated and convoluted to buy into their system right now. I'd look at resale in all situations.
