We have a week we have to use and are thinking about disney world.....any suggestions on where to stay with our RCI week would be great!!!!!

We traded our week for a 3 bdrm condo at Orange Lake in December. It is right outside of WDW. I would also suggest checking out Cypress Point or Cypress Point Grand Villas. We have stayed at the Grand Villas and really liked them.

If you can get either of the Hilton Grand Vacations resorts, go for it.
We own at HGVC Sea World, but have stayed numerous times at both and love them both. Sea World has a Bermudian seaside theme, very soft pastel colored buildings and colorful interior decoration. They have dive-in movies by the pool, and many kids activities. Two years ago when we went, our kids did a "behind the scenes" tour of Sea World. They got lunch, did a craft activity (a little old for it but they still enjoyed it) and then were shuttled with a group to Sea World for a guided tour. Was about 5-6 hours long and was $25 per kid. They really enjoyed it and we got some "kid free" time, LOL!
If you plan on going to Sea World or Discovery Cove, stay at the Sea World location. You can walk to either (although it is a little bit of a hike but we walk daily anyhow so it was fine for us).
Sea World is across the street, Discovery Cove is behind the resort.

The International Drive location ("Tuscany" is the nickname) is themed like an Italian village. I love this type of decor, and love the pool! There is a strip mall with a Publix, Walgreens, Subway, McDonalds and a few other stores directly across the street, the Premium Outlets and the Dixie Stampede are close too.

Either of these would be a great trade if you can get them.

We stayed at Cypress Point last year on an RCI exchange and really enjoyed it. Our unit was very clean and the kitchen was more than adequate. We had a 3 bedroom unit on the 3rd floor. We had 8 people. Parking was right outside the door. The layout was a little strange with the lockoff but it worked out great for us. You can get a 3 bedroon (sleeps 10 if you use both pullout couches), 2 bedroom (sleeps 6) or 1 bedroom (suppose to sleep 4 but I would not get the 1 bedroom unless you have 2 people). It is very small.

The grounds were nice. Each unit has a screened in porch and the pool was great. They had a children's program but we did not take advantage of it.
It was very close to grocery (Publix I think) and a drug store. You could walk in a pinch. There are tons of restaurants near by.

Cypress Point and Cypress Point Grand Villas are very close to the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd so you are minutes from Downtown Disney.

You do need a car if you stay there but it is a very easy drive to the parks - no expressways. The staff was very nice. They left a message a few times and asked if we wanted to sit though a timeshare presentation. We ignored the message and they didn't bother us.

I would go there again.

We own a 3 bedroom at OLCC and absolutely love it there. They have a new lazy river and untis are always clean. Full kitchen. You can trade it through RCI. Good luck with whatever you decide.

There are dozens to choose from - a ton! If you don't expect to travel for more than a year (and have some planning time) or you want to go in lowest seasons (fall, January, May, no holidays), then join TUG and read the resort reviews for the area. It'll be worth your while and it'll help you narrow the field according to your personal preferences.

If you plan to go sooner, especially during major holidays or popular school breaks and need to make a choice among a more limited selection, give us details. What's available for your preferred dates? Then we could really help!

Thanks for the advise we got a week at orange lake in january....what is TUG? thanks somer

Orange lake is not too bad - but I really, really hate that traffic light that lets you out on US 192.

waited there once 10 long minutes - no traffic - 6:30 am. It adds quite a bit to your trip time.

here is tug
www.tug2.net

it is timeshares users group

here is another one -

that say to read the reviews you must join it.

OL also had a problem with swimming pools - not enough for that amount of guests. besides when I am staying at a place HATE to have to DRIVE to the swimming pool. Unless you are very lucky you will at OL.
