RCI Exchange Question

I have some points that I won't be able to use at WDW this year. I was thinking of requesting an exchange thru RCI. It would cost 160 points and the $95 exchange fee. I would have to borrow some points from next UY.

When I call MS to try to make the exchange, will they be able to check availability first or will I have to borrow the points first? I don't want to borrow the points if the exchange I want is not available.

They can check availability without borrowing. If you don't find anything you'll accept, they still don't have to borrow until they find a match unless you decide to do a deposit first. You should consider deposit first if you'll lose these points and you should deposit at least 45 days before the start of a given week deposited, generally at least 2 months before the end of the UY.
