RCI availability

We just joined RCI and will be trading in our week to exchange into a different resort once we pay the maintenance fees for this year.

When I search availability now it is just open stock that is showing purchase (with cash) availability. When I actually trade my week into the system will it show different resorts in addition to the ones that I see now? We don't really care much where we stay, just trying to get an idea of what is out there.

Thanks! Sarah

What timeshare do you have? Generally, if your program has a property near Disney (and most do), you'll do much better internally than you will with RCI.

We need a different week than what we own and the charge to change weeks at our home resort was more than the RCI membership.

In that case, I'd call RCI and have one of their reps check availability for you. You shouldn't have to deposit to have them look -- only if you actually book.

They can also tell you exactly what you'll be able to see when you actually make your deposit.

Hmmm...that's highly unusual. Can I ask what is your home resort?

That said, once you trade in your week, you'll see what properties you can trade into. Assuming your TS is not in the Orlando area, you should be able to trade into a nice resort near Disney.

I said assuming your TS isn't in Orlando. Some places won't let you trade from one Orlando resort to another Orlando resort. I'm pretty sure the Disney resorts are like that.

It's not that unusual if the OP owns a fixed week. They *do* still exist...

OP: yes, once you have *something* on deposit, you will also see what is available for exchange as well as what is available for rental. If you are interested in getting a sense before jumping in with both feet, I recommend joining TUG (www.tug2.net) and posting a "Sightings Request" on the sightings board. Some other TUGger will use their account with a deposit to search for you.

TUG membership also includes access to terrific reviews of all the resorts. I never book anything before checking them. I find them much more reliable than the ones available from other sources.
