Wanted to pass on recommendations for these two things:
We got back Dec. 12 from a 6-night stay at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. I would recommend these whole-heartedly for families with young children. Ours are 7, 6, and 3, and the separate bed room and bathroom were a life saver. We have stayed in one-room hotel rooms before, and all three will not go to sleep until DH and I do. They also ask every 5 minutes when we are going to turn off the TV!
We were able to put them to bed every night at 9:00 to 9:30 p.m., and close the door. DH and I could then watch TV, get a snack from the kitchen, use the computer, or even go into the bathroom without opening their door or them hearing or seeing us. The bedroom's double bed was perfect for DD7, even bigger then her bed at home. The two boys had the bunk beds, which DS6, who had the top bunk, thought was really cool! The blackout curtains in the bedroom, and front room for that matter, kept us all asleep until around 7:30or 8:00, rested and refreshed. I also told the kids that if they woke up before us, they could turn on the tv in their room.
The cabins were also awesome for breakfasts (made toaster waffles and microwave pancakes) and we had leftovers from quite a few dinners, so on our down day we just had dinner in the cabin! Loved also renting the golf cart, the campfire (2 nights) and convenient laundry room in the cabin loop, the huge playground near Pioneer hall, shopping in the trading posts, Trails End Buffet, Crockets Tavern, taking the boat to the MK, and watching/hearing the MK fireworks from the beach every night.
In a word, we LOVED the cabins!! Feel free to ask any ?s
Big props also go to the rental company A Baby's Best Friend. We had such a good experience with them. I don't have a regular stroller at home, DS3 now is big enough to walk everywhere, but I knew he would need one at DW. The stroller (and bed rail and fan that I rented) were waiting for us at the check in building, clean, in a labelled plastic bag. It was a wonderful Graco stroller with canopy, huge basket, one-handed steering and one-handed fold-up, fully reclining seat, cup holders. I loved having it! Also so easy to fold up, slip back into huge plastic bag, and leave with bell services upon check out. After arriving at the cabin, I realized they provide a bedrail (hidden behind the bedroom door), oh well, nice to be well-prepared. I found ABBF easy and affordable. Again, will answer any ?s I can!
