Rats, No Availability at the Polynesian!!!

I called today to see if we could get a room at the Polynesian for next Saturday (the 17th). We check in with a package there on the 18th, and are currently staying at the Port Orleans for one night. I figured it wasn't worth the extra expense when we booked our package (months and months ago).

Now, dh is working overtime like you wouldn't believe (like 70 hour weeks)

So, I thought it would be nice to surprise him, and stay at the Poly our first night and not have to change resorts.

I'm so bummed!!

I'm wondering, what is the room only cancellation policy? Maybe I could get a room last minute? When are rooms released from their hold? Is it better to call late at night, or early a.m.??

Any suggestions??

Room only cancellations are 5 days prior to arrival, I would just check back each morning when reservations open and possible at night before closing.
