Well, after a rough start we were ready to begin our vacation for real. Today is EMH for MK, so we have Mickey give us a wake up call, however, after last night, we snoozed for a few minutes more. Finally met our friends in the lobby and headed for the boat to MK. After a few minute wait on the dock, we were on our way to MK. Since we snoozed, we missed half of the EMH. We enter MK and head directly for Tomorrowland. It is already a line forming for Buzz so we get in line. Ride Buzz and I win. A little disappointed though, I failed to hit any of the big point targets. I guess that early, my aim is off. From here, we head to Space Mountain to get FP.

With FP's in hand, we start towards FantasyLand. As we near the teacups, there is no wait at all, so we jump on. Even though it is a simple ride, my DD and I love this ride. As we exit the teacups, Tweedle Dee and Dum are signing autographs. Got to have them. They love DD & DS's autograph book and draw all over their page. By their page, I mean each character had their own page with a clipart in the corner so DD could tell who's page was who's. After getting their autograph, we head on around to FantasyLand. Pooh already had a 30 minute wait so we passed by, we would be back on Thursday's EMH and could catch it then.Snow White had no wait at all so that was next. After Snow White, the kids want to ride the carrousel. As we exit, I get some good shots of DD trying to pull the sword out of the stone. Have to get these so we can fill up the scrapbook. Next up, Peter Pan. This is DD's favorite ride. Everytime we go by Wendy on the plank, she screams "don't jump Wendy". When she did, it brought back fond memories of last year's trip which was DD's first. After PP, we jump across and ride DW's favorite, Small World. DS avoided the torture and slept through the whole thing. Has anyone noticed the sign in the last room where it says goodbye in different languages that says WAH DA KRAP? I had to have a picture of it. Surely this is an imagineering joke.

Now it is time for lunch and just like last year, we favor Pinnochio's. DW and I both had burgers and DD had PB&J which would be her staple for the whole trip. DS of course had a bottle. After lunch, we head to the Haunted Mansion and walk right on. I guess everyone else is at lunch now. DD is a real trooper, she doesn't like this ride, but rides anyway so that everyone else can ride. The only part she likes is when the ghosts hitch a ride on your lap. As we exit, I have to snap a few more scrapbook entries and we head towards Space Mountain for FP. On the way we are able to get Snow White's autograph and DD gets the signature kiss on the cheek. When we get to SM, we lt our friend keep the kids (she is 5 months pregnant and can't ride). An enjoyable ride as ever.

Now it is time to se about those haircuts that we missed yesterday. This is to be our DS's first haircut. He really doesn't need one but the photos and souvenir Mickey ears are well worth the $12 just to have a little snip of hair cut. DD gets hers cut short and then pink coloring put in. When we go to pay, they won't charge me for DS, so I left a hefty tip, again well worth it for the photos I got.

It is 2pm now and it is hot, so we head to WL for a break. When we get there I take DS up to the room and DW takes DD to cub's den for craft time. She makes a beautiful butterfly to hang on the fridge back home. Then we head to the pool for a little while to cool off. After swimming, we get back in touch with our friends and decide to head to EPWS for some dinner. Before we ever leave, I suggest Mexico and it seems to be fine with everyone. At least until we get there, and it is decided that we should try Japanese. So around to Japan we go. Check with host and 8:45 is the next available table. That would be fine except it is only 6:30 and we are starved. Decide to head on around and see what else we can get. Get all the way to Morocco and DW says there is no way she is eating there, I guess the lamb is not on her menu. While there, we check the character station and get the Genie and Alladdin's autograph, but to my dismay, Jasmine has left or the day. BUMMER!! OK, now where to eat. We ask a CM what is left in the other countries that is counter, because I know without a PS, we won't get near any of the other restaurants and there is nothing according to him. So, guess where we ate...you got it...Mexico. After eating, we go over to Norway and let the kids play on the viking ship and then decide to head out before Illuminations start. Figured we could see it later this week, NOT. Totally missed it this year. Anyway, we stop by MouseGear and do a little shopping and head for the bus. We get back to WL and settle in for the night. Tomorrow is EMH at AK. It is a much better day, starting to feel like Disney again. See you tomorrow!!

Thanks for the reports! Looking forward to day 3!

I going to take a hint from your post, though, and be sure to see things the first time, as there may not be a second!

How are your friends enjoying their time at WDW? How great to have a guide like you!

Can you tell me about how craft time works at WL? We will have a 3 and 6 yo. there in Sept. They won't be staying at Cubs Den in the evenings. Didn't know it was open during the day. Is there a charge for crafts?

Day 2 sounds much better!
Don't you hate it when...you make a suggestion, everyone poo-poos it, then you wind up going there anyway! Keep the reports coming! We are all living vicariously through you!

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!!

Thanks for taking the time to write a report. Every now and then I plunk down and read what everyone's been up to at WDW. Always fun to live vicariously. I shall get back to enjoying the rest of your trip in a sec, but I just felt compelled to reply here.

Your experience with finding somewhere to eat reminded me of our last trip when we were in MK and wanted to take the kids waaaaay over to the Cape May Buffet for supper. I called Disney Dining right from a park phone (free call) to make sure we could get in at a resonable time (ie as soon as we could make our way over there from MK). As it turned out the earliest ps available was for 8:30 pm (I think it was about 4:30 at the time) and so Cape May was out of the question. However, the CM was tremendously helpful and asked a few questions about what our dining priorities were and where were we at the moment and ... presto!... a ps for a character meal dinner at Cristal Palace scheduled for the time it would take to walk there from where we were in the park.

I hate making ps's in advance because, well, you just never know what you are going to want to eat or even where you are going to be at any given time but when you've got little kids with you, you've got to have some kind of game plan because they sure do get cranky once they get hungry. The Disney Dining service sure helped us - saved us a huge trek to Cape May which would have been in vain and got us into a great sit down place just when we needed it.

Come to think of it, I might just make my way over to the Tips board (after I finish enjoying your trip report, of course).

Sounds like a nice day. Those pics of DS getting his haircut must be priceless! :)
