I'm taking my son to Disney World this February. When we watched the Disney Xmas Parade on TV, the hosts (Canadian) ate at a restaurant where they were visited by the rat from Ratatouille. Does this restaurant really exist? If so, where?

oh i saw that too. and no i dont know where she is talking about with the Ratitullie character, but that would be neat to see!

Just be aware that at Les Chefs de France, Remy is rat-sized and not Mickey-sized. It's not a character meal like the others where giant oversized characters come to your table. Remy comes around to each table on a serving dish and communicates through gestures with the table he is visiting.

My kids had met giant Remy at the studios a few years ago and then in August we went to Les Chefs de France. They wanted to know why Remy was big before and is small now. I told them he must have gone to Pixie Hollow and forgot to get "blown up" again. They didn't buy it, but I didn't explain any more.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think my son expects Remy to be big. He'd probably just be thrilled to see him. Do you need reservations for this restaurant?

You need reservations for almost every Disney restaurant. I would call 1-407-WDW-DINE as soon as possible. You can make reservations 180 days before the date you want to eat. People start booking dining ressies that early (and for some places you would need to call on that date to have a chance). Early lunch reservations are often much easier than dinner to land. I would also decide what other sit-down meals you want on your trip and book them as soon as possible also. Since you are looking to go in a month, you may have some difficulty. If you don't get what you are looking for, keep trying. People often cancel, which opens up spots. Good Luck.

Remember, Remy only makes a few appearances daily, so even if you dine here, you may not see him!
We have a 1:00pm ADR for lunch, he is supposed to be out at 1:40 from what I read on a post somewhere....I don't remember the other times.

Well, you guys weren't kidding! I just phoned the reservations line, and thank goodness I did!

BTW -- for those of you who want to know, the "Remy" show at this restaurant only happens at 20 minutes past the hour, between 12:20pm - 5:20pm. Nothing later than that.

Whew! Thanks for the help!!!

Remy also does not appear on Sundays, so if you have booked your reservation for a Sunday and your main interest is seeing him, I'd suggest rescheduling ASAP.

This was a big hit for our 6-year-old son last spring. This restaurant has had mixed reviews from time to time, but we really enjoyed our meal. But Remy was the main reason we were there and it was great. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the advice. We are going on a weekday, so I think we'll be fine. So happy I found this message board! You all are amazing!

We've enjoyed lunch at Chefs de France on our last two trips. The meal was good and Remy's visit was very amusing. The highlight this trip was when my husband figured out how Remy works. it was driving him nuts after our September trip.

The french onion soup is excellent and a meal in itself if you are not a big eater. I got the soup and dessert. My husband and daughter both got the three course lunch special of soup, entree and dessert. Husband had the quiche Lorraine - I tasted some and it was very good. Daughter got the gratin de macaroni (macaroni and cheese if you don't speak French). It was very good as well.

I thought that remy was only their until this past september according to all the articles out about Remy...

That was the original plan. His stay at Chefs de France has since been extended "indefinitely."

So can anyone confimr he is still here now in 2010??

" He appears daily at 12:30, 1:40, 2:50, 5:20 PM Monday through Saturday. It does seem to take them about 35-40 minutes to make it around to all the tables. He will be appearing until September 5, 2009.":confused3

That date was extended "indefinitely." The last date I have personal experience with viewing the rat was December 8. There are other reports on the board that he was there as late as January 14.

He was definitely there last week. I'm not sure of the exact time, but our lunch ADR was for 1:00 and he came around while we were eating dessert. My husband finally figured out how he works so he is a happy camper!
