Random Thoughts and Things of Which I Was Reminded On Recent DLR Trip

I notice you've gone to DL in July and August and now June. Which month did you like the best? Trying to decide what month to go in next summer.
No big difference. It was a little cooler in late June than our July and August trips in recent years, and having lived in SoCal for many years I was aware of the June gloom early morning fog that sometimes lasts until afternoon. We never saw it on this trip and the weather was just perfect all week. Crowds were similar between June, July and August. My two cents is if you want to go in summer just avoid weekends and July 4th and choose whichever week works best for you. As the summer goes on the heat will increase a bit, but not a lot. Also watch out for early to mid June limited show schedules and grad nights.

Follow good strategies as described here:

Hydroguy,

I am going EE on a Thursday in September. Park opens at 10 I believe. Soo EE will be what time? 9am? To be first (or second) in line for Nemo, what time should I be AT THE GATE to speed walk to the NEMO to get? 8:30? I will be staying on Harbor so I can walk in, so not dealing with parking is a huge plus.
Someone said line up on the far right to follow the parade route down main st. Sound right or does it not matter?

thanks
jan

I cannot tell you anything with confidence. EE will be at 9AM when the park opens at 10AM, that one is easy. September will be less crowded than June, but then with the later opening time it will be easier for people to get there early. However, Nemo popularity will drop off at some point and that may be by September. It is too far out to know at this point and my best advice is to continue to monitor this board. :)

I do not think lining up at any particular gate is better for EE. You should get in the shortest line of course. But following the "parade route" means going up to the Matterhorn before making the right turn to Nemo is the way to go.

Trey,

I really agree with all your points as usual! And I cannot believe we missed seeing you guys at the parks those days, I have no idea what happened with that;) ! I also very much agree with your points about DCA, we spent more time there this trip and like you were just reblown (not a word I know) away by Aladdin. Dd even convinced me to go on Orange Stinger which I loved, making me less critical of the Paradise Pier area which even seemed more charming and fun this trip. And my ds 12 also seemed a bit less enthused, he really missed AK, Epcot and the water parks, although Pirates Lair was a huge hit with him. So our longer, summer trips will be for WDW from here on out with shorter trips off season at DL. Although DCA is still his favorite park. And my inlaws enjoyed DCA and the theming very much there and were surprised when I told them it had a bad rep!

I miss the weather in southern Cal., its way too hot here in Colorado! Welcome home and thanks for sharing. I"ll have to post some of our phots and see if you saw me anytime while we there. Not on Nemo since somehow we missed that:confused3 !
