1. I used to be able to see the way my points were used on the DVC website. I don't seem to be able to do that, and I'm trying to figure out how many points I have access to after my June use year arrives. Trying to plan out to 2018. Am I missing something or has the website changed that much?
2. Has anyone done the Wishes Fireworks Cruise? If so, is it difficult to get? How early can you call on the 180th day out?
3. Is there any DVC discount for cash rooms, or was that something I thought I heard when we bought?

Thanks

Sign in to DVC. Then my DVC membership, My Vacation Points, Manage Vacation Points.

Haven't done the fireworks cruise but yes they book up quickly.

DVC cash discount is 25% if available.

We did the fireworks cruise in January, it was awesome! Worth every penny. I'm not sure if normally books fast, but we had no problems booking it for 6 people.

I think that the Wishes cruise is really easy to book, availability-wise. The Illuminations cruises are more limited because only so many boats can fit in the tight space that they pull up to for that show. We really really like the Wishes cruise. I have done it three times, and it is awesome every time! Can't beat a pontoon!

Count me as one who doesn't quite get the whole wishes cruise thing....other then paying $$ to watch fireworks from further away while floating???....i guess if thats what your into, but I much prefer right smack dab in front of the castle for the price of admission

Yeah, it is a different experience. The Wishes cruise also takes you all around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. The CM who drives the boat will fill you in on some fun trivia and lore. You will also see the Electric Water Pagent. They pipe the music into the boats, and you can see the fireworks from a direct vantage point, so it's lines up with the castle. The fireworks reflect off the water, which is a nice touch. The very best part though, is that it is just you and your family. No one is pushing or jostling, no kids on shoulders, no iPad held up in front of you. When the fireworks are over you just turn the boat around and it is a pleasant cruise back to the dock, which is better than the sea of humanity that you have to deal with on Main Street. I think it's a great, luxurious, way to watch the fireworks. Cost prohibitive for my family to do very often-but just wonderful!

I did the pirate cruise....i liked the whole pirate part for the kids....but i found myself when watching the fireworks kind go going 'meh"

A number of years ago, we did the Illuminations Cruise. It was fun, but I wouldn't do it again. I have no regrets. This trip is our first trip staying in a grand villa at Boardwalk, it will be 10 of us, the kids and grandkids, and perhaps the last time we can all do a trip together this time of year since the oldest starts school next year. I'm willing to spend the extra money in order to have all of us together and be able to see the fireworks without having to fight the crowds. We are going the week after Thanksgiving, and what my wife and I noticed last year around the same time was that the crowds for Wishes get crazy. They don't do Wishes for the general public every night as they close early for MVMCP so the night we were there was like the most crowded mid summer night. With the little ones, this may work best.

For me, with 4 young kids (they will be 2, 2 , 4, 6), it is a way to get to watch the fireworks without worrying about them running off. Plus, the cost of MNSSHP was going to be about $500 for my group to go that night. Considering how crowded people are reporting it has been the last couple years, I decided to spend the money on the boat instead (because I love those Hallowishes fireworks - I'm bummed to miss the parade, but the though of waiting for over an hour for the parade with all my kids makes me ). So grandma, grandpa, auntie, and us parents will get some champagne delivered and will enjoy the fireworks from a range far enough that none of the kids will freak from the noise. And unlike watching from the Poly beach, I don't have to worry about chasing kids on the beach in the dark. That alone is worth the cost!
