It seems like every day I come up with more random questions on our upcoming visit to DL. We will probably have only 2 days, probably 6/11 and 6/12. I'm well versed on the World, but haven't been to the Land in 3 years.

Both of those days are So Cal blackout dates, but I'm aware that it's still possible that WOC might debut then.... :scared1: We plan to skip this because we hate crowds, although I know it will pack the parks if it happens those days.... :sad2:

Friday will probably be our MOSTLY DL day, and Saturday will be our MOSTLY DCA day, but probably with a little hopping back and forth.

My daughter and I are HUGE Princess and Fantasyland fans. We plan to hit Fantasyland first thing on Friday, since I believe it is not a MM day. (We will not have MM access). I want to do all of FL at some point, but will have boys with us too, so need to do the other lands too.

Here are my random questions, the answers to which will help make our trip even MORE magical! :wizard:

1) What's the scoop on the Nemo subs? We purposely scheduled our last trip to leave on the day before it opened. I really don't like HUGE crowds. What is the wait likely to be at park opening vs. later in the day? Are there other times that are good for shorter waits?

2) Same question on the Matterhorn. This is probably my boys' favorite attraction (right ahead of Indy....). So we'll need to ride this a couple of times. Is this a "do it at opening or wait forever" deal?

3) Do the characters still climb the Matterhorn? If so, is there a schedule?

4) Is Aladdin's Storytime still in operation? I didn't see it listed on the DL entertainment schedule. Anyone know a "typical" schedule?

5) Do Mary and Bert still do a little dance thing in front of the castle? If so, when is it?

6) Do Alice and the Mad Hatter still play Musical Chairs somewhere, maybe the ice cream shop?

7) Does DCA always open later than DL?

8) Any guess on what opening time will be in June on a Friday and Saturday?

9) If I want a spot near the castle to set up to take pics of the fireworks, just how early will I want to be there?

10) Is there a Beast's Library somewhere in DCA? If so, where?

11) What's the scoop of Toy Story Mania? Is it also a "do it at opening or wait all day" sort of thing? With only 2 days, there are only so many things you can do "at opening" so we're trying to prioritize.

12) How far in advance of show time do we need to be in line for Aladdin to get decent seats on the floor? I'm on the request list for Priority Seating, but at #35, I'm not counting on that.

13) Are they still doing the Tiana Riverboat Jubilee show? If so, where do I find the times? Can I assume Tiana and Naveen are still apperaring and are likely to be there in June?

I think we're skipping Fantasmic to avoid the crowds.

Is here a limit to how many questions I can ask in one thread???? :lmao: I'm sure I'll have more.

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR EVERYONE'S HELP!

1)nemo subs at times during the day and night wonh't have much of a line.
2)matterhorn usually has a 45 min- 1 hr wait time generally
3)unfortunately they don't climb the mountain anymore.
4)no more storytime due to aladdin in DCA
5)sorry, no dance
6)no musical chairs either.
7)yes, DCA opens like an hour later
8)around 8 am
9)you might have to search for this answer around boards. i heard there's some perfect spotes for it.
10)yes, the library's in the animation building. enter at the sorcerer's work shop.
11)this has an average of a 1+hour wait time. All-The-Time.
12)30 mins if crowded. i very highly prefer the Mezzanine section or else you will miss a lot of elements of the show.

Many thanks for the quick reply! Kind of disappointing that so many of the unique little magical things are no more ! (#3,4,5, AND 6!) But it really helps to know this going in. I guess that all frees up more time for all those headline ride lines! :rotfl2:

As for the Aladdin stage show, I have heard it's cool to see them come in on the Magic carpet from the Mezzanine. But I want to photograph the show and think I'd do better overall if I was closer. It WILL be cool to see the Magic Carpet though. The only other time we saw the show they walked in across the stage due to "technical difficulties".

Also, if you have tips or suggestions NOT listed in my questions, feel free to fire away!

Were the Mary Poppins performances and the Musical Chairs cut recently and I missed it?

Last thing I heard the musical chairs thing was still happening at 2.30 PM at Coke Corner. We saw it in November and friends of mine in early February.

Same thing for the castle show. The band was still performing, with characters, a couple of weeks ago. We saw a performance with Mickey and some others at 10.30 AM one day and we saw Mary Poppins and Bert leaving the same area (with a dispersing crowd, so I assume this was after the show) around 2 PM in the afternoon. The performances didn't happen each day though. The last one we saw was a on a Tuesday.

Aladdin's Storytime is indeed not happening anymore, but the location has been turned into a Meet & Greet. Aladdin is hanging out there and he's sometimes joined by Jasmine, and we once even saw the Genie.

In June there'll very likely be a higher crowd level and hence a longer wait, but we have seen wait time of 30 minutes and less for Toy Story around Halloween.

I have not heard of musical chairs being gone either -- it was still there as of a couple of months ago, as Vala said.

Has anyone seen the Musical Chairs or Mary and Bert's dance in front of the castle?

If so, does anyone know what days?

Can I assume this sort of thing would be on the schedule they hand out as you enter the park?

Is there any site that shows this stuff online? Like Steve Soares does for the World......

Whew! Good thing there WASN'T a limit on my number of questions!

We always do Nemo first, or very last after the fireworks.

2) Same question on the Matterhorn. This is probably my boys' favorite attraction (right ahead of Indy....). So we'll need to ride this a couple of times. Is this a "do it at opening or wait forever" deal?

Before I had a little one who couldn't ride, this was a first of the day ride. I noticed last Friday night as we were leaving Nemo and getting ready to head out of the park around 10-10:30pm that the line was pretty long for Matterhorn. So I'd say morning as opposed to night for this one based on that.

7) Does DCA always open later than DL?

Yes, I believe it's always 1 hour.

8) Any guess on what opening time will be in June on a Friday and Saturday?

There is a thread here that shows historic opening times. You could check back and see what they have been in the past and get a general idea from that. (www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2291124)

9) If I want a spot near the castle to set up to take pics of the fireworks, just how early will I want to be there?

1 1/2 hours is what we always plan. If it's extra busy, 2 hours. :)

11) What's the scoop of Toy Story Mania? Is it also a "do it at opening or wait all day" sort of thing? With only 2 days, there are only so many things you can do "at opening" so we're trying to prioritize.

The last few times we've been it seems like it's been about 45-50 minutes no matter what time of day it was. I'm sure first thing in the morning it's much shorter, but we usually don't get to DCA very early.

13) Are they still doing the Tiana Riverboat Jubilee show? If so, where do I find the times? Can I assume Tiana and Naveen are still apperaring and are likely to be there in June?

I'd guess that the showtime sheet for the day (you can grab them with maps at the gates) would show the times for that. Right now the Rivers of America are empty, so no boat. They've been doing a little mini show near French Market restaurant last I saw. I don't remember what time that was, we didn't stay to watch.

ETA:

For the Musical Chairs and dance in front of the castle, if it isn't on the showtime schedule I'd ask at the information booth (end of Main Street on the left side). They can probably tell you for sure. :)

Check out this post, it has tons of info! :) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1072276

We've seen both. The musical chairs and Bert and Mary were not on the schedule of events we received, but you can stop by City Hall and they can tell you. Unfortunately, we ended up spending WAY too much time in DCA this last trip so we missed all of that.

The wait time for Toy Story when we were there (3/18-21) was close to 45-60 minutes pretty much all day. We never did DCA at opening though so I can't vouch for that time of day.

The wait time for Nemo was shortest first thing and close to closing. I think we had a 15 minute wait right at 8 am on our MM day.

We were in line at 5 pm for the 5:50 Aladdin show and had decent floor seats. Not right up front but we were in the center with a full view of the stage.

Thanks for your help!

I believe musical chairs is daily at Coke Corner at 2:30. Not on the show guides, but it's happened every trip we have been on. :goodvibes

Yes, that's the same info I have.

I have been waiting for it on Tuesday and have seen the Hatter waiting for Alice. Didn't see the actual performance in the end because I was running after the Genie.

We passed the area when they were playing on a Thursday and a Monday.

My kids saw Musical Chairs on Saturday, March 20. It was at the Coke place around 2:30 and Peter Pan was involved. My oldest daughter was watching the littler ones for a few minutes so my dh and I could use or Indy FPs.

Hi!!
I can't add anything, but I DO have a question for you, Which Princesses will you daughter dressing as? Does my dress look familiar to you??? :o)

Aren't you ADORABLE!!! Thanks for posting. :goodvibes I'm honored to have a small role in your avatar! And your little pumpkin is adorable too!

I don't exactly know yet who she's going as! She'll have lots of options since I've already been sewing for this short trip and our week to the World in December. I knew I wanted to do a green Ariel for December, so when I realized we would get a chance to eat at Ariel's Grotto, I decided to hurry that one up for this trip too. So we'll definitely have that one along.

I also did Belle's green library dress for the December trip, but asked about the Beast's library at DCA because it dawned on me it would make a GREAT photo op for that dress!

She also has a half pink/half blue Sleeping Beauty that she never got to wear at the World last fall. If it's not TOO short on her now, we'll bring that along for some pics in front of her castle. I'm also collecting bits and pieces hoping to do Tiana... which is why I asked about them in the park. I'd be kind of disappointed if I dragged it along and they were gone!

PM me sometime. I'd love to see a bigger picture of you as Briar Rose!

That's great news! I hope we can catch it in June!

Has anyone else seen the Mary/Bert dance thing recently?

The musical chairs game happens every day at 2:30 at Coca-Cola / Refreshment Corner

Mary and Bert - with the Pearly Band - are in a show in front of the castle at 2:00 PM. This is not listed in the "stage shows & live entertainment" guide that you can pick up at the entrance gates.

It almost certainly takes place every Saturday & Sunday, and on other relatively busy days.

I still think the Mary Poppins show and musical chairs are around. I was there in December and saw both. It should be back around the busy times like during the summer.

I would suggest going to Toy Story Mania in the morning if you want a short wait, but I never have had to wait for it longer than 50 minutes, even during the summer months of August. (And I think that So Cal APs are blocked out on the days you're planning for). For Matterhorn, maybe 45 minutes is to be expected.

For fireworks, I don't know any perfect photo spots, but I usually would stake out a spot in front of the castle about two hours beforehand.

AWESOME!!

We'll be there on a Friday and Saturday, but will probably be in DCA most of Saturday. Do you think there's any chance I might find them on that Friday? (6/11)

Thanks so much!
