random cost of park tickets sticker shock story

We've never taken our daughters (10, 12) to Universal but have an extra day during our November visit that I didn't have park tickets for. So I figured this was a good chance to spend the day at Universal instead.

I priced out 4 tickets - adult ones, given their ages - and literally shrieked out loud at the price. $776 for one day!

My husband without missing a beat: "You don't think we spend that in a day on Disney tickets?" [me, under my breath: no, I think we spend more than that, actually.]

but this. is. not. Disney.

Why is sticker shock so much less when it's going to the mouse house? Are we just that immune to it now? This is insanity that we're all paying that much when you think about it.

I get the same way when I consider adding a day at Universal. The big difference is you typically buy multi-day tickets at Disney which spreads out the cost a bit more. If you were to do a single day, park hopper at Disney it would be a similar shock! Universal can be more affordable than Disney if you spend more days (buy 2 get 2 free; cheaper APs, etc). But then it’s up to you if that is a place you prefer to spend more time - I am a Disney person. I like the Harry Potter things and some of the rides, but overall it’s not worth the extra money for me, which is fine!
