We just returned yesterday from a quick weekend plus trip to WDW and I thought I would add some thoughts on the meals we had (not enough for a full review).

Saturday: Ate at the Rainforest at AK. Good as usual. We always order hamburgers or pizza. Had both this time. No dessert, no appetizer. Had dessert at Ghiradelli- good as usual.

Sunday: Had lunch at the Food and Wine Festival where we ate a few items but thought the food was too high priced for what we received. Top items were the chicken at the China booth (started with a UM), the sausage rolls and spatzele at the German booth. And, best of all was the molten lava cake (consisted of one large bite).

Had dinner the minute we arrived at MNSSHP which was around 5. We were so hungry after getting very little to eat at the Food and Wine festival that we immediately headed for Cosmic Rays, a place I have always wanted to eat but could never talk DH into it. We had the rib and chicken plate (plenty big enough to share). It was wonderful. We loved the little alien on the stage. DH said he was more amusing than most comedians. :rotfl2:

Monday: Had my birthday dinner a day early at the Captain's Grille. I wish I had followed my instincts about Kona instead of deciding to try something new. I was happy with the Captain's Grille, but DH didn't like it. I had the ribeye which was good but not exceptional and quite fatty. It was very thin but was done as I had requested with some dark pink but no red. The flavor was good. DH had the fish of the day which was rainbow trout. He did not like it. He had the crab cakes as an appetizer and the profiteroles for dessert. I had a couple bites of his profiteroles as I was way too full for dessert. I thought they were much better than I had expected after reading these boards. He thought his crab cakes were also good. Our waiter was so-so until he brought me a "special birthday treat" which consisted of a chocolate mousse dome covered in chocolate. Just the perfect thing for a chocoholic! :goodvibes I thought the Captains Grille was good but not as good as Kona (my favorite).

Tueday: Before leaving WDW, we had breakfast at the Tusker House. We had a great time which was topped off by a birthday cupcake and birthday card. The food was fine, not great and the character interaction was good.

All in all, it was a fun birthday weekend with a couple special surprises and a few new restaurants.

thanks so much for taking the time to give us your reviews......I love the surprise visits to the mouse.....
Thanks again
