So what are your thoughts on Ramada Maingate... I finally decided on booking there with the Entertainment rate. We ended up with a deluxe king... anybody stay there recently? How was your stay?

I'd recommend doing a search, we stayed there in July and it was great, exactly what we were looking for, very close, nice pool, decent breakfast included, and not too expensive.

I agree with doing a search - there have been a few posts about this particular hotel lately. I stayed there last year and I didn't even have a Deluxe room and I would stay there again. Not a five-star joint, but I didn't pay for nor expect one :) No complaints!

We stayed there in july it was clean and a great location. The pool was quite nice. We's stay again.

We stayed there for 3 nights in November. We had 4 rooms and they were nice about putting us as close together as possible. They even upgraded my family to a small suite so we could have a connecting room with my sister. The rooms were recently rennovated and very clean. We didn't use the breakfast, but it was there and it was free. I always look for free wi-fi and free parking, which they had. The staff was very nice. The walk to the front gates was very quick and easy. We will definitely stay there again.

I have stayed there twice and had decent experiences both times with the actual stay. It's always clean -- both the rooms and the grounds.

The only complaint we had on our second trip was the front desk insisting we pay for our entire stay up front when we checked in. It was not a huge deal but I've never EVER been asked that at a hotel before. When I said that the front desk lady got quite rude and told me that it must have been a long time since I've stayed in a hotel because all of them do it now...... I then informed her they didn't the first time I stayed and not one other hotel unless I book through Expedia has required this. She then told me she was talking about California hotels. Hmmm stayed at a few others since and nope, not one of them required this. :confused3 Oh well, we don't stay there anymore. Not really because of that but her attitude did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

My family and my sister's family that comes from Oregon have stayed there every year or twice a year for almost 30 years. We have stayed there because we could walk easily to the park, even before California Adventure was opened and we walked thru the parking lot. Also it has the best swimming pool around and has been great for our kids and now grandkids. The staff has always been great to accomodate us with getting rooms close together. We have been pleased with our stay there and will continue to stay there.

Love them. Excellent price for being walking distance. Clean, basic rooms. But we only sleep there. Pool are has been redone, and is nice. Breakfast is ok. But at least it is free and we can eat something before going to the park. Refrigerator and microwave in room. I always bring extra stuff for breakfast, and maybe some lunch items. And free parking. One of the only places not to charge.

We had a great stay there recently and particularly enjoyed being able to take a midday break at the pool! I found them on Facebook afterward and I love their posts on Disney, it makes me feel like my vacation was extended haha!

Yeah, heard they refurbed their rooms the past year or so. I was checking them out a little. Sounds like their parking can be a little tight sometimes but most people liked them.
If anyone doesn’t mind me asking, what kind of rates were you able to get using them? Did the Plaza Inn last time, and it was fine, but I wouldn't mind staying closer.

We didn't notice any parking problems with our mini van, but it was late August when we stayed there, so maybe its worse during busier times. Their rates vary quite widely. I was going to stay there again this year, but didn't book soon enough to get the rate I wanted. In 2011, I paid $76 a night. This year I priced it out in June for weekday rates in September for $99 with AAA or government discount. I booked for 1 night. Later we decided to add a day and the rates had gone up to $124 with the same discount if I remember correctly, so I canceled and moved my ressies elsewhere. I 've still been watching their rates and they have gone down to $103 with discounts and back up to $109. There doesn't 't seem to be any reason to the rate changes, so I would just watch for price drops.

I'm staying at the Ramada Maingate in mid-September.
I became a fan of them on Facebook. I LOVE that they not only have a Facebook page, but an ACTIVE Facebook page. They post every day some little tidbit. They even run specials/raffles through the page along with their Twitter account.

They will actually respond to posts! This means a lot to me. They obviously are well managed and current with today's social media expectations. Bravo.

I've even watched Youtube videos they have uploaded and participated in trivia that is sometimes posted.

Can't wait to check-in on the 19th!

Yea I've seen their rates go up and down, but mostly up during the summer, so we booked as soon as we were ready

The breakfast hours are 7-9:30 i think. We usually got there around 8...

I don't know about the end time, but they started serving at 6:30, I'm pretty sure, as we managed to get breakfast and be in line for a 7:00 magic morning...

We will be there from the 15th thru the 19th. We will be the family of 20 down at the end of the pool. See you there.

Awesome!

Marcie, what room number did you request? What kind of room was it?
