Ramada Eastgate? No car? Help!

I really hope someone can help me here. We are going to WDW for 10 days at Christmas and we are staying at the Ramada Eastgate. We have not rented a car so will be limited to hotel shuttle. Is there anything within walking distance of our hotel? (Stores, restaurants, groceries etc.) Does anyone know how reliable the hotel shuttle is? Any help will be greatly appreciated and will put my mind at ease

You are about 4 miles east of Disney - in the Water Mania, Old Town area.
Personally I would really recommend hiring a car. We stayed in the Travelodge which is nearby and I wouldn't have wanted to be reliant on the hotel shuttle.
But if you really don't want to you should be ok for restaurants and a few shops in the Old Town area but you will be restricted because there is no public transport. You could get a taxi though which the hotel could organise.
Of course if you're planning to go into Disney at the crack of dawn and stay until you drop you should be able to manage OK with the shuttle bus.
