Never a dull moment at my house.

DS #2 just called a few minutes ago. He and a friend went to Gameworks and when they went to leave, the car's been stolen!

:( :( :(

Argggghhhhhhhhh!

Well, the good news is the car was NOT stolen. Kyle parked it illegally and it got towed. Of course, I asked him about this possibility when he first called me! No, no, no.....he was POSITIVE that that was impossible!

$130 to get the car out!

He's in SO much trouble! :( :(

All you DISers who survived the teenage years....please tell me that I'll laugh about this one day!

OH NO!!!! Oh my goodness, Bet. I see a new car in your future :(

Bet - I noticed your plea for someone who's survived Teendom to tell you it would be ok - Come On folks - SOMEONE must have survived parenting a teenager, anyone? Just One? Please?

Max has dove into the difficult teen thing this year & I'm hoping that I'll survive - so I was really looking forward to those parents who've walked thru this madhouse to say "Oh, No prob! Give it a couple years & they'll be the sweet little angels they always were"

Of course, with the lack of such replies, I'm wondering if this is something no parent survives.....:p

Hang in there Bet - sending L, P & J your way....I'm sure you (& hopefully me too) will laugh at this someday....

I was a ROTTEN teen, so was DH so if we made it through I know we are going to be great at getting dds through.
The things we did compared to what our dds are going to try to get away with, LOL.
I just keep telling her we will be like Uncle Buck. You know when Uncle Buck goes looking for his niece when she doesn't show up at home. YEP that will be us. DD is scared, very scared...lol.

YOU will be fine bsnyder!!! You maybe have fallen for the "stolen" car bit the first time but next time, ha...you will be wiser AND you will develop the ability to seperate BS from truth, you know like Superman, only you are going to become Supermom!!!

Ah, teens and car stories.

My DD kept having problems starting her car. A few desperate calls were made, DH would go running, and it always started right up.

When her car was in for a different repair, she described the problem to the mechanic. Since it wouldn't happen for him, he couldn't find the cause.

Then the day of enlightenment came along. She got stuck at school. One of the guys got it started, and asked "did you step on the gas?" "Why no, do I have to??"

She was used to the driver ed car, and didn't realize that you need to give some cars a little gas to get them going.

:p :p :p :p

   Oh my!

Haven't "survived" yet...just getting by so far ;) DD will be 16 in 6 weeks.
:)

I survived it once...the jury is still out on twice. ;) I'm sure there will come a day when the little car "incident" will be funny... ohh maybe when hes 30 or so. ;) My MIL survived 4 teenaged sons that were 2 years apart... Son number 2 was a lot like your ds. :)

Most of you all know my teenager, since I have a really big mouth. lol

Anyway, I can say that her backtalking and smarting off have gone down quite a bit from a year ago. I don't mean just right now with her in trouble either. :)

I guess lots of people survive it, I mean look at all the people that are adults. I mean, somehow they got that old without their parents curing the problem permenantly. ;) ;)

Two of mine are in their early 20's and in college. The worries just get BIGGER! But, then again there's the old what you don't know won't hurt you. This summer has been especially hectic because the 21 and 11 y.o.'s are fighting constantly. My 22 yo just laughs.

You might say that I have survived the teen years but the 20's and in college are only a tad better. I miss them like crazy when they are in school but right now Sept. cannot get here fast enough. Somedays I feel like yelling SHUT UP!!!!!! Thank Goodness for my oldest, he keeps me sane and gives me hope.

Thanks guys,

I'm still pretty :( this morning, and it's been a big pain to go get the car out of impound (of course they wanted cash!).

Kyle is going to spend the weekend driving up to North Carolina with DH, to pick up DD from camp. It'll help DH to have the company and someone to help with the driving (10 hours one-way). Not what Kyle had planned to do this weekend.....:(

You will survive Bet, trust me.

However, there were many times that I didn't think that my two older daughters would survive past their teen years.
They're both mothers now, pay back time will come. Hee, hee, hee.

Number 3 daughter is nineteen, and as snuggles said "The jury is still out". :D She did manage to smash up her sister's van 3 days after getting her license. That was fun......not.

But, you will laugh about these times and you will become best friends.

Hang in there !!!

Linda

Hee hee heee, a little payback for all that crud you had to deal with doesn't hurt them.

Good luck, I've only taught teens for 8 years, but SIL is turning 16 in Sept. Bet MIL can't wait!

Geez, what a scare! But good to hear it wasn't stolen and just towed. Would have given me a coronary if I had come out and saw that my car was gone. Sheesh.
