I've been watching this Queen of Clean show on DIY Network, and I swear, this woman is obsessed with Borax. ;)

I've NEVER used it. Do you? :confused3

what do you use it for?? I am interested in trying it out. I can't keep my bathroom cleaned for anything. I am about to give in and try vodka on it.

I use it! Mostly for laundry. Sometimes as a scrubbing agent for the tub or sinks if I'm out of baking soda. Love it though not as much as I love to use baking soda to clean.

Well, according to her. You can use it for just about EVERYTHING. Mix it with vinegar, or with rubbing alcohol or water and baking soda - all depends on what you're trying to clean.

But it works especially good on grout - using the baking soda/hot water/Borax mixture.

She has a website on the diy network website - look for the Queen of Clean - she has all sorts of tips there. :thumbsup2

yeah, I usually add some with the detergent to a load of clothes.

herc.

I use it occasionally. It was recommended by our county extension agent as an alternative to bleaching agents to whiten antique linens. It works similar to Oxy Clean. Just the other day I dumped a bunch down my kitchen drain/disposal to combat a truly nasty odor. It worked after other products laughed in my face (not literally of course). I use it to clean my stainless kitchen sink too.

we used it to get fleas out of the carpet once. not at my house but at someone else's i helped. not with the fleas, but with getting rid of them. i don't have fleas.

Thank you! I have tile all over the stupid apt bathroom and I can't beat the mold and mildew. I will try this out on Sunday when I return from my turkey day vacation. :)

We have been using Borax for many years. We have pets and as was mentioned, it will kill fleas. If you vacume the rug and then sprinkle the Borax on top and leave it there, it will kill the flea eggs. Works great and beats any flea bomb or spray and not as smelly.

Oh, how I wish I had known that when we moved into this house! I was 8 months pregnant when we moved in, the previous owners had an indoor/outdoor dog (heavily wooded lot on a lake). She wanted to bomb the house but I was against it due to the baby, so we took our chances. Everything was fine for about three months till I got a good look at our Himalayan cat. Bless her heart, she had become their home :sad2: . It took about 6 months to get her flea free and thus the house too. Now I use Frontline on Scruffy, even in the dead of winter!

I use it to clean the bathroom with. It scrubs without scratching.
I also use it in the pool to boost ph.

ooh ooh ooh... how do you use it to keep ants out?? I have been blessed not only to have a moldly/mildewly bathroom but to have pest problems such as ants and spiders too. Any tips or advice is much appreciated.

I've never used Borax, but I use Comet and Ajax all the time.

Nope. DH used it once and I broke out SO bad...I had to try to stay far far away from it, and I still kept breaking out, even months later, when I was near places he used it. I have odd allergies though...Like to rosemary. Who's allergic to rosemary? Anyway, I'm a bad example. Trust all these people that like it.

Careful when you use it for critters. I used it for crickets. Then I got cricket pieces. It dries them up and kills them. I think it's supposed to work for cockroaches, too.

My nephew wanted Borax to make Slime!

:confused3 I couldnt find it ANYWHERE!

I have to go look for it. According to "The Queen", you can find it in the laundry aisle. We'll see. :)
