We're taking our first trip to Disney next week and the forecast so far shows 40 and 60% chance of thunderstorms on three of the days. Can any of you with experience let me know what this is like at the park and let me know how to prepare....thanks.

It's not that bad... usually it's less crowded. Just get some nice ponchos before you go, and maybe an umbrella, and you should be all set for if it rains. You might want to bring an extra pair of shoes and socks too. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Pretty much everyone just keeps going, only with ponchos. Some people hide in the gift shops. MGM has a lot of show type attractions so that might be a good park to go to if it's raining.

Epcot Future world is good in the rain also- lots of long indoor rides(universe of energy is 45 minutes long!!)
Bring sturdy rain ponchos from home so you are ready when the rain hits.
We are there every year in July and the thunderstorms come every day. We were tevas for just that reason- socks and sneakers don't do well in the rain. try to bring a water sandal if you can. And have fun! Don't let a little rain stop you. :beach:

1.- Bring sandals or Crocs or something that can be dried after the rain. Nothing worse than wet socks and shoes to get blistered feet.

2.- Take a baseball cap or visor to wear under the poncho so the rain won´t fall on your face.

3.- If you bring a stroller, do buy one of those stroller rain plastics, and if there is such a high chance of rain, cover the stroller everytime you go into an attraction, since most stroller parking areas are not covered.

4.- Wear shorts, it is awful to walk around wearing half wet pants.

5.- You can buy the Disney ponchos in any store, the usually have them behind the counters, but all you need to do is ask for them.

I am a huge fan of the 2 pack rain ponchos at Dollar Tree for, well you guessed it, a dollar :rotfl:

They are very light weight/compact and at 50 cents each you can just toss them out. We used to have the yellow Disney ponchos but found them to be very bulky (and much more expensive!).

The good news about rain in Orlando is it's warm rain :thumbsup2 ! It usually blows out as quick as it came in. Have fun and remember that if you get stuck in the rain at least you are in Walt Disney World!!!! :Pinkbounc
