I've been wanting to go to one for so long! The plan for the first night was check out the Disney village and get some dinner, I'd like to go here. What is it like? I understand its quite pricey but is the food good? :)

I've found it very hit and miss.

The food is pretty average but the portions are usually good. It is expensive though (about £15 for a burger and fries!).

The main selling point of the place is the decor. If you're lucky you can sit next to the fountain or the tropical fish tanks. Kids absolutely love it because there's always something happening. Along the walls are animatronic animals and every 5 minutes or so they'll do something (e.g. Elephants swing their trunks).

Here's a menu from last year to give you an idea of prices: http://www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/rainforest-cafe/

We're going to try it on our next trip, I'm sure my children will enjoy it! Does anyone know if under 3's eat for free in there?

we eat there everytime we go. its great. the steaks there are very nice and the decor around the cafe is fab. the kids love it.

and we didnt have too pay for my 2 yr old daughter either. in fact we never paid for a single meal for her the whole 5 days we were there.

I love it in there, we had a period when we couldn't go in DS was violently ill in there in 2006 ( tummy bug not their food ! ) and refused point blank to go back in for a number of years, I think he thought they'd remember him !

Have visited on both most recent trips and had a lovely meal. It's overpriced but then everywhere at DLP is :(
The only thing I would say and we might just have been unfortunate is that both times we've initially been offered a table in a not so atmospheric part of the restaurant, but they have relocated us without a problem.

My favourite areas are by the elephants or the gorillas :goodvibes

Good to hear people enjoy it in here. We would like to visit on our trip at Easter. Have just cancelled a Walt's reservation and have decided to try here instead with their set menu, will be a bit cheaper :)

I seem to be in the minority here, but I think the food is abysmal as is the service! We still go each trip because the kids love it in there but food service and value wise I think it is terrible!

We're doing Rainforest cafe on our trip. I loved it there last time and the theming is so good.

I can't really remember what the food was like, from what I remember it was good. The main point of eating in there though is the decor. It's very well themed with it's animals and water features. Hoping to eat there in March and try out one of their platters to share.

We ate here on our last three trips. I think the food is fantastic and reasonably priced for the amount you get (at Disney prices anyway :rotfl:).

The only thing that sometimes puts me off going is the long queues to get in. As you cannot make reservations it's just a case of turning up and hoping for the best! Never had to wait more than 30 minutes though and once inside the service has always been fantastic!

We always seem to end up right by the Elephants! On one trip I had the Elephants trunk right next to my ear... then nearly getting whacked in the face with it every 10 minutes when it started to move! :rotfl2:

I have been to the Rainforest Café in Disney Village twice now, once in 2009 and once in September last year. I enjoyed the food equally both times and would definitely recommend it! The first time we went was in the Easter holidays and had to queue for a while. In September we were out of school holidays and were almost the only people in there! I would definitely agree that it is better to get a table nearer the 'animals' though, as it makes the whole experience a lot more fun :)

Can I just check that there is also a childs menu? as the link to DLPMagic does not show one?

thanks
amanda

We artived at 17.00 and no queues at all, were seated in 5 mins

Thanks for all the replies :) think we will be going here as our 'themed meal' If that makes sense. I wanted to do a character meal but that's more expensive.

not necessarily - you don't have to have the 30 euros set menu at Cafe Mickey for lunch or dinner, you can choose one course and a drink from the a la carte menu there and it won't cost you more than the Rainforest Cafe menu prices. Cafe Mickey has characters there from 12noon until just before 3pm, and from 6pm onwards, every day.

Have you thought about sharing pizzas in Cafe Mickey, I've 2 teenage boys, they don't share meals and it's not something I've done but lots of others on here have, it's perfectly acceptable and the pizzas are more than big enough, you could always add a side order of fries or garlic bread. :)

Such a shame that they have stopped the character tea party, it was a reasonably priced way of having a character meal.

Or maybe the character breakfast ?
