Can anyone tell me about it? I made an adr for lunch for our family because sometimes we need an air conditioned break at that park and Yak and Yeti is unavailable at a decent lunch time. I'm a little concerned about having to walk all the way back to the front of the park, but I think it will be worth it for a real break. We usually eat lunch at Flame tree or the CS Yak and Yeti and we usually suffer in the heat, so I thought I'd try something different.

Any recommendations on an entree? Are the deserts good?

Any chance at getting an ADR at TH for lunch? Once you walk all the way to the front for RC, it gets pretty hard to walk back to the bulk of the park after a meal. I'm pretty sure Restaurantosaurus and Pizzafari are both indoors so you could cool off at them too if your kind of forcing yourself to have RC just for the AC.

We always have lunch at AK RFC.
We don't find it a problem to walk back in the park. We do so much walking, what's a little more.

I like the salads. Actually everything any of us have had has been really good.
They servings are huge, so we have never tried dessert.

We enjoy eating lunch here on our AK days. It's much quieter than the one at DTD and a nice break. There's a rear entrance that goes back into AK, we usually go through there (save some steps!). We also plan our route so that we're around the Camp Minnie Mickey area before lunch so we're not hoofing it all around the park.

Thanks! I'd really like to try it. My youngest has never been and I think he'll love it. I don't like Tusker House very much (although when I tried it, I wasn't feeling very well, so maybe its not as bad as I think :goodvibes). I'm glad to hear that some of you haven't minded the walk. From what I read, it is on the DP now, right?

THE LAVA NACHOS! My husband agrees to go back to Disney, only on the promise that he can have the Lava Nachos at Rainforest! :lmao:

If you have room for dessert, VOLCANO!. You would have to share this dessert though. It's huge. DW and I usually share a pizza from here. As Neverland mentioned, we try to plan our route so we're on that side of the park when it comes close to time.

Forgot about these. Yes, these are awesome to. :thumbsup2 We always order these to. Forgot to put these in my first post.

Rain Forest Cafe is NOT on the dining plan. It says that it accepts it because they take the premium plan but not your regular dining plan or deluxe dining plan.

As for what to eat, Bamba's BBQ chicken wrap is awesome! We always order two entrees and trade off half. One of us always orders this. We love it! And I second the volcano is the table has room for dessert but definitely split it. There were four of us and we couldn't finish it. We have never had a problem going back into the park. The time spent in the restaurant, off your feet and in the AC is perfect for rejuvenating us. The walk back in is actually nicer since you can wander the trails a little better than at opening when everyone is rushing.

Its not as good as the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney but is still better than most at Animal Kingdom. I may have this wrong from memory, but dont you have to go out of the park to get into it? I remember some confusion last time I was there.

You are right that it isn't quite as good and the atmosphere isn't as good as the DTD location, but you can enter it from the park, there is an entrance, just past where you rent lockers, if you are coming from inside the park, it would be on the right, just down the path from the Oasis.

We are going to try their breakfast when we go in January, only because we have a gift card.

I haven't eaten at the one at AK, but I did at DTD....we loved it !!! The salads are absolutely wonderful (and more than we could eat)...the wraps are also great !!!

Rainforest Cafe was one of our best meals while we were at Disney. Really really a GREAT meal. The kids loved it - it waas nice and loud (my 4 kids are loud) and it was a nice cool break from the heat. The food was PHENOMINAL!

YES, the Volcano! It costs $15, but it is worth it since you can split it with about 6 people. It's HUGE!

Oh, and they sell those water mist sprayers (identical to the disney ones) at RFC for $6-$7 cheaper than Disney. They were $11 at RFC and $18 or $19 at WDW parks:

Pastafari or the Jambalayaya...

so big, I have to share with my kids. It is pricey- in the $19-26 range, but trust me, it is enough for 2 people. We always do lunch and we manage to slow walk ourselves around the park after that.

We always have a drink (or two) in there every year on Earth Day, which is my birthday too! I think it is better than DTD for the fact that is is in the AK park and I don't like the DTD crowds sometimes.

Enjoy! It's one of my DH and DS's favorite place to go.

As noted above, neither RFC accepts the dining plan. They accept the premium and platinum package plans only.

I wasn't always a big fan of RFC food, but they do have great air conditioning, and my dd loves the atmosphere. We ate there, at AKL, on our last trip with only a 5 minute wait because we were so hot, and I really wanted to cool down, and eat before we headed back to the resort. We weren't starving, so the three of us (me, dh, and dd who was 3) spilt their large appitizer sampler. It hit the spot, the perfect amount of food, and our bill was around 20 bucks! You just have to remember, you are paying for the atmosphere, not so much the food. The food is good, not great. I would say Chili's quality, with a MUCH higher pricetag.

I'm gonna be the dissenter: don't like the food at all. always too dark and too noisy in there between the background sound effects and the over stimulated/excited kids running amuck looking at all the critters.

I won't even go there in the real world

My husband likes the place but the service is soooo slow I found it annoying. The noise level was high too.

The food and drinks were good but I hated wasting 2 hours out of my park day for that darn lunch.

The food is kinda pricey but the portions are really big! We usually order several things, ask for empty plates, and serve it ourselves family style. Their salads, pastas, sandwiches and meat dishes are all good. Their orangesicle smoothie is extra yummy and really good for dessert.

Our grandkids love that place. They are totally entertained by the whole atmosphere. It's like eating inside a Disney attraction. Sort of.

Somewhat off-topic / thread hijacking. Does anyone tried RFC at Sawgrass Mills mall in Miami? How is the place in comparison to WDW (ambiance, size)?

RFC is a must, but we are spending a few days in Miami before WDW, so I wonder if we eat in the Miami branch, I can try another place for our AK lunch.
