Rained Out Cabana day?

Hi!

Has anyone experienced a rainy cabana day? What does disney do in terms of canceling and refunds?

Of course - our luck! - our cabana/pool day is looking like a rain out! It’s still far enough away that I’m crossing my fingers that it’s wrong or can change, but would still like to be prepared on how to handle it. It’s a lot of money to spend for a wash out.

Also- if we want to try to change days for our cabana rental, can we do that at the front desk with the concierge when we check in? Or will I have to try calling again? (I’m sure everything’s booked, but worth a shot!)

I believe you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance with no penalty so I'd make the call then. Not sure about changing dates, I'm guessing the front desk could do it but I'd call the hotline as soon as possible if you think that's what you want to do.
 
Given how booked the cabanas are, I'd be shocked if they're able to move your date that close.
 
I guess I should’ve been more clear in my question- we don’t want to cancel! I’ve been dreaming about this day for months. LOL I really meant- if weather is bad will disney cancel on us? And then if disney cancels on us would we get a refund?
And I know it’s not likely they’ll have availability for a different day- but it never hurts to ask! Just wanted to know if I could do it in person since the phone lines have hour long waits lately.
 

If DISNEY cancels they should refund you. That is how it works on the cruise line anyway.
 
When will you be there, I mean what day is your cabana reserved for? You can't count on weather more than three days out here. Plus rain can be within view but go around you.

FWIW, my experience is similar @Hopingforpixiedust - Disney is usually quite guest friendly with their cancellation/refund policy when it comes to weather. Now, if you have use of the cabana most of the day aside from a couple of hours of storms, that may be one thing - but a complete or mostly complete washout, they’ll usually work with you.

As for adjusting your reservation in person/at the front desk when there.... that’s one of those things where I’d say you can try, but ultimately you’re venturing into “different department” territory and sometimes that doesn’t go so well at Disney. Cabanas are run my the Recreation department, so distant cousins to the front desk staff. You may have someone that knows what they are doing, but you may not - so just keep expectations a little on the managed side. We’d all like to think Disney is some well oiled/connected machine for some of these things, but in reality sometimes they aren’t.

We had a cabana at GF summer 2019. It poured 30 min into our pool time and everyone had to leave due to lightning. We ended up getting rained out our whole rest/pool day...but they did give us a refund. I had to call and remind them though after we arrived back home that they said they would refund our cabana.

We had a cabana booked at YC in March. I decided to cancel because it was going to be pretty cool. I tried getting them on the phone but couldn’t get thru. I stopped at the front desk & the Cm was able to cancel it for me.
 
Question.

Where are you staying and how much does the cabana cost?

I was thinking about renting one.
