We leave in less than 2 weeks, and I've been searching in vain for a raincoat or poncho for my 22 month old. I've checked Target, Wal-Mart, Sports Authority, Babies R Us, and two children's resale shops. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I know we'll probably get rain at least once a day while we're there, and I don't want to have to duck into a building every time!

When we went in December, even the smallest Mickey ponchos were WAY too long for him - he's only about 31" tall (on the short side for his age). I'm sure someone else has had this predicament ...anyone?

Thanks!

They had them in our Target over on an end cap by the kids underwear. They had them in 2 different areas= one right near the girls underwear(more girlie ones) and one near the boys underwear(Boy ones)

If all else fails get one of the child's size at Disney and tie up the sides - we did this for DD last December (25 months) and it worked. Wasn't ideal....but it worked.

I looked around too. I saw the ones at Target, but they looked for bigger boys, not toddler/infant sizes (at least that's what I thought).

I gave up and purchased a 2T size oshkosh rain jacket 50% off.

We have a rain cover for the stroller too that completely covers the front of the stroller.

I was planning to use our stroller cover as well (if needed.) We live in the Seattle area, so it made sense to buy one, and we do use it a lot. Being in Texas, you may not need one other than at Disney, so maybe not worth the $. I haven't seen the Disney ones, but aren't they pretty cheaply made? Or the KMart/Walmart kind? Maybe you could buy the smallest child size one and cut it shorter?

Someone else offered that the Disney ones fit perfectly over the whole stroller (just laying it over the top, not putting it on the child), so you can keep everything dry with that.

Yep, that worked for us too! :thumbsup2

FWIW my dds were much more comfortable in a rain coat at that age then a poncho!

Target has childrens ponchos in the dollar spot right now-saw them yesterday.

Thanks everyone! I ended up finding a Carter's raincoat at Kohl's in a 2T. It was the last one they had in a toddler size, and (best of all) it was on clearance, so even if it's only used once, I think it'll be well worth the $4.20 we paid for it! It's longer than it should be, but I'm thinking that's a good thing; hopefully it'll cover his legs if we're holding him.

We also have a stroller cover (bought it for our last trip to WDW, but didn't end up needing it), but DS won't stay in his stroller for more than 20-30 minutes at a stretch without getting antsy.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions! I hadn't even thought about tying up the ends of a regular kids' poncho.

Just FYI for anyone else who is looking, one place I've found that pretty much always has kids ponchos is Walgreens. They tend to be for little kids; a kid who is 4 ft. tall won't get much coverage from one of these.

We bought the smallest poncho we could find for DS2 (who is 36" tall) and cut it up so it would not drag on the ground. We could have tied up the sides, but for $2.00 - we just cut it!

I bought disposable Kids rain ponchos from the camping section in target. They also had Adult ones each for less than $1

I went to Target, Wal-Mart, and K-mart in my area. K-mart had a huge selection of ponchos, comparatively. But the kids ones are for bigger kids (not toddlers). I think I'm going to do some creative tailoring for our two year old!
