I am planning to get the length of stay pass for the rainbow reef. Online is a little confusing on what that includes :( Does anyone know if:

1. You are allowed to snorkle in the rainbow reef every day? Does it have to be the same person each day?
2. Are you allowed to take the snorkle down to the lagoon?
3. Do you keep the snorkle or turn it in everyday?

Thanks!

You might want to reconsider the length of stay pass. Rainbow Reef is about the size of a swimming pool, and there are so many fish in it that they brush up against you constantly, which wasn’t a plus for either my wife or I. The area is far smaller than I had envisioned, so for us it was kind of a “one and done” thing. I think the experience might grow a bit repetitive if you did it too frequently during your stay.

There’s also some snorkeling by the rocks on the left side of the lagoon. It’s not great, but it’s still fun, and it’s not like you‘re paddling about in a giant aquarium, which is how we felt with Rainbow Reef.

You can snorkle every day, and multiple times a day if you want. It *does* have to be the same person each time. They will not let you take the snorkles to the lagoon; they are only for use at Rainbow Reef. And you turn it in after each pass through the reef.

My wife and youngest daughter never got bored and the length-of-stay pass was perhaps the best value in all of Aulani for them.

Thank you for the advice! We'll take a look at the reef before deciding on a pass. We definitely want to snorkle in both the reef and the lagoon, so would we need to do separate rentals?

We bought some inexpensive snorkeling gear from Amazon and brought it with us. Depending upon how long you’re staying, it might be more cost effective. Another option would be to just buy it when you get there from either Walmart, Costco or Target. Some sets are just a mask and snorkel. My wife doesn’t use the fins. Not sure what the rental rate is for multiple days, which might be competitive as well.

Thanks for the pro tip!

If your comfortable snorkeling in the lagoon or ocean,,,then save your money on the reef. I think the reef is amazing for those that are not great swimmers, or feel safe in the ocean,,,it is a great alternative. But if your fine with your swimming skills,,go to the lagoon, or the lagoons out to the right and see nature in it natural enviroment. Love it when you get the supprise of turtles, eels, and others.

Rainbow Reef includes snorkel rentals at the beach. You can't bring the same snorkels from RR down to the ocean, but you can show them your ticket and get complimentary snorkels at Makiki Joe's. You DO NOT have to pay twice.

The website is pretty bad at conveying the policy, but there's this:
