Hi,

I'm trying not to get worried. We are going to WDW on June 6 - 11th. I looked at accuweather and it says rain. What do I do if it rains the whole time. again trying not to worry but. This is the only time we can go and have saved up for so long.

Thanks,
I know I can't change the weather. Just wanted some one to make me feel better.

Throw on some ponchos and have just as much fun as if it were sunny. You might even get to see more since the rain will scare off a few.

The rain does tend to keep the crowds away. So while it can be miserable after awhile-- it might not be a bad thing. Also, it may not rain all day everyday. Who knows-- it's raining so much at home these days I'm thinking it's never gonna end.

Have a great trip!!!!!!!

I've got to agree. There are so many indoor attractions at WDW that rain is really not a determining factor. It's not like amusement parks that feature mostly outdoor carnival rides. Just put on the ponchos and keep on going.

This time of year rain is usually forecasated every day, but typically it is just an afternoon shower that lasts for twenty minutes or so, then blows over. No big deal. We went around this time last year and there were only 1 or 2 days when the rain lasted longer than that and even then it was for a couple of hours in the late afternoon/early evening, not all day. We still had a wonderful time (and I do not like to get wet!)

I am not sure when you checked, but I checked last night & this moringing and I didn't see anything about rain...just "cloudy". What others are saying about the afternoon rains...if it does indeed rain..it will more than likely just be between the hours of 3pm-6pm. That is when we have our normal summer rains. It isn't an all day event. As long as there is no threat of lightning..you can enjoy the parks... even swim if you want & not worry about sunscreen :sunny: However, the slightest chance of lightning...take cover. Just last week a man was stuck & killed on the golf course down here...

We were in WDW earlier this month (May 2-12). Before we left home, we checked the weather and it had rain for EVERY day that first week. When we arrived at MCO it definitely was raining - hard! However, the rest of that forecast was completely off target and we had really terrific weather the entire time. A shower or two here and there, but nothing that kept us from having the time of our lives. Weather reports IMHO are nothing more than guesses and more often than not they're wrong anyway for the long term. My advice - stop looking at the forecast and focus on checking packing lists and all the other fun pretrip stuff! I wish I was going back too but I have to wait now until Nov. 2005!

It's summer....in Florida....it rains almost everyday.....so what??!!
I hate the ponchos...they make me sweat and feel so gross, I'd rather be wet from the rain.

I don't even worry about the poncho, umbrella, etc. Get a cute hat to covr your bad hair day, wear clothes that dry fast (with your swim suit underneath if you want), get a pair of Teva sandals (more comfy than tennies, if you ask me) and while every one else is taking cover, just do your thing! Most of the time, the rain is short-lived anyway.

That's usually how you can tell the natives (Floridians) and southerners from everyone else. We're still walking around while everyone else is taking cover! It can rain for hours...don't let it spoil your fun! Because of the heat, I think the rain is almost a relief!!!!!! For those who care about how they look...I always tell my daughters, it's not a fashion show.....just have fun and BE HAPPY!

My only suggestion is bring a small towel....so you can wipe all of the wet seats and yourself if needed. And SMILE!!!!!!!!!

I can do better by waiting until the morning and looking out the window.

The weather in our area was supposed to be 70s and sunny--it's been cloudy and 50-60. Today was supposed to be gloriously sunny and 70+, I'm looking at nuthin' but clouds out my window. . .

If the weather people in Florida are as talented as those in the MI/OH area--it will probably be beautiful! :sunny: Think good thoughts for nice weather--it's got to hold as much weight as looking at the weather forecast. ;)

About 10 years ago, when I went to WDW it rained every day, but only in the afternoon for about 20 minutes (as a previous poster mentioned). In that time, I just visited the gift shops and indoor attractions! :D The only time the rain was a problem was when they closed Wet & Wild early because of the thunderstorms and we had to leave (this was before the Disney water parks were in existence). I didn't even bother with ponchos. The rain was great, since it cooled things off and thinned the crowds a bit. :umbrella: :boat:

We were at WDW a few years ago during a stationary tropical storm. It rained steadily for the five days we were there with the exception of one afternoon, which we spent at the POR pool. Since there was no hope in the forecast for better weather to come, we just put on billed/brimmed hats under our ponchos (to keep the rain from pouring right down our faces) and hit the parks each day. Keeping good attitudes we had a fabulous time and had the parks practically to ourselves in the first week of August! Very few WDW attractions were closed due to the rain and we certainly didn't mind going on rides that involved getting wet. We even hit Blizzard Beach in the rain one day. As the rain wasn't thunderstorms the park was still open and we walked onto every ride all day.

My only advice in case of serious rain or thunderstorms is to avoid Islands of Adventure. We were there during a prolonged thunderstorm and so many things were closed (including many counter service restaurants) that it really wasn't worth going.

What do you do???

Take lots of pictures of you soaked with huge smiles on your face! Its only rain dont let it eh... rain on your parade...? Right...

But believe me i spent a whole week in WDW with rain every single second. Its funny my favorite memories are from that trip.:)

We'll be in WDW that same time. I went to Acuweather at typed in "Orlando" and saw rain and thunderstorms for that time period also. However, that was for Orlando, WV! So, if you type in Orlando, FL, you (and I) might be a little happier! :)

That being said, having lived in FLA for over thirty years I know that it does rain in FLA in the summertime, sometimes daily. As the previous posters stated, usually the rain is brief. BUT, "we" will keep our fingers crossed that we will have ample sunshine. After all, it is "The Sunshine State"!

Have fun!

We will be there at the same time as you. When I checked earlier this week, it was all rainy, now it is all sunny. Who knows, let's just go have fun

RIGHTO, that forecast is about as accurate as....I just checked it out and there's no rain listed but the thing that makes me laugh is the forecast low for Monday 6/7--low of 62, yeah ok, in Orlando in June...I doubt that! And high in the mid 80's - that would be one heck of a cool down compared to what it is now-I'd believe that when I see it too!!:teeth:

And for the record, we were supposed to go this weekend and it (accuweather) had thunderstorms forcasted for tonight and tomorrw???

You'll never really know until you get there so just be ready for the rain and the sun:sunny: :sunny: :teeth:

Hey, and if it does forcast rain, (closer to your trip date, the reports will be more accurate!) just remember to have an extra pair of shoes/sandals packed. Nothing so yucky as putting on damp sneakers in the morning, :(

But rain makes the parks more fun!!! Actually rain makes everything more fun. My best field trips in grade school were ones we took in the rain.
Just put on a poncho and keep going. We went to Universal in February, and it started raining soon after we got there and it rained all day. Actually-it poured. Monsoon type rain. I'd suggest making sure you have extra sneakers, because they get SOAKED. Mine took 2 days to dry, before we stuck them under the hair dryer in our condo unit. My mom and stepdad used the laundry dryer to dry there's. Better yet, if your feet can stand it, wear sandals. If you get a poncho (and you'll need to if it rains), put a baseball hat on before you put the hood up. It really helps keep the rain out of your face. While Florida is a lot easier to forecast than NH is (there you can bet on hot and humid this time of year...here we're in the 50's today), they still get things wrong. They day they said we'd have showers, we had the monsoon. Sunny days were rainy, All day rain turned into bright sunshine. The forecast I found most incorrect-a high of 65-it never got warmer than 47.
Don't worry too much. You'll have a good trip rain or not.

We're going in August and I'm debating the ponchos - if it's that hot, won't you dry off right away anyway? I think they would just make you hotter and sweatier. Should I bother buying them - just something else to tote around.
