Ok this is OT and might not be in ther right spot, but I need help.

As everyone probably knows, DFW has been having rain EVERY day for so long I don't remember when it started. So my DD5 woke up this morning and asked is it raining today. Of course the weatherman says there is a 70% chance, so no outside activities again, ie pool, park, Six Flags. (which are all flooded anyway) We go outside when we can and do chalk or sidewalk paint or play in the river that once was our street.

So my question is what can we do today inside? I have run out of ideas. We have made tie dye shirts, alots of crafts, done makeovers, games, gone to the libraries and movies ($1). We are baking tomorrow. I don't want to go to museums because of money and flooding.

Please help the housebound! TIA

I don't have a lot of ideas, but just wanted to tell you I feel your pain. We are a few hours south of DFW so we're not flooding, but it is raining EVERY day...almost every day in June and now every day so far in July... :confused3 It's so frustrating. I have learned to play several of my daughter's video games and we're working on her math, reading and spelling skills for next year.

In Houston here. I just posted this same thing on another board. I am going nuts with the rain. I just can't take it anymore!!!! My kids need to play outside, swim, etc!!

In Houston here too. My concrete patio is actually turning green:scared1: from all the rain. Have no clue what's growing on it, but am about to go put bleach on it and see if that helps!

Also a Houstonian,
We have checked out our local library for several activities lately. We went out to Katy Mills today and walked around, saw a movie. BTW, check out AMC theaters. On Fri, Sat, and Sun and holidays you can see a movie before noon for either $4 or $5 each. It would have saved us $10 today. We saw Evan Almighty. I will have to say it was VERY entertaining. :rotfl: Wanda Sikes is halarious.

OP- how old are your children?

Beth

Would all you Texans please send your rain to SW Florida? We need it so desperately!!

Good luck and I hope you dry out soon.

KatieLou - my DD is 5. We have done the movies. Our Cinemark has movies for $4 before 6pm everyday. We tend to spend money :sad2: when we go walking around the malls and then we still have to contend with the flooding. But thanks for the info.

Merriwind - I wish we could send the rain to you. My FIL lives in Melbourne so I know some of your problems. But based on the forecast, DFW is suppose to have a wet July too. :confused3 :confused3

Houston area also. My yard is so soggy and nasty my Dog won't even go out there. We went to the movies on Tuesday and just hung yesterday and today. We've played every board game we own and I even challenged them to some video games. (UGH) I am really hoping this stops soon and heads into Florida to help out. We have definitely had our share for awhile.

Ugggh! My back patio has turned green as well.:sad2:

I told my DH the other day I was developing webbed feet- he said he was growing gills!

I know we needed the rain. but wow this has been a LOT!
I really do wish we could send some to the SE or the West Coast

This webbed footed, moldy Oregonian just can't stop giggling at this thread!! :rotfl: Of course it was 90 degrees here today...our rain comes October thru May most of the time.

Is it cold out?

When it rains here, and it's at least 45 degrees, we go for walks and bike rides or go to the zoo or our favorite park. It's "just water" is our saying.

Inside activites we like to do: bowling, ice/roller skating and movies.

For your sake I hope the rain stops soon.

Let me add a great big "AMEN!" If I could, I'd pack up this rain and send it to anyone who wanted it! pixiedust: But, of course, not the flooding! I have to constantly remind myself that we are refilling aquifers and water tables, but if I don't get DS out to the park to run off some of this energy, we'll both go NUTS! :crazy2:
And if it doesn't dry out enough to mow soon, our backyard will be a mini version of the Jungle Cruise!:boat: :snail: :fish: :squirrel: :sail:

We feel your pain - over in the UK we have had rain non stop since May -the weather forecast is for the same through to September. Our summer is officially over (even had to put the heating on today!) :sad2: . Mind you us Brits love to talk about the weather so this is the perfect thread for me! :rotfl:

So does anyone have any neat crafts they are doing or any other ideas for us stuck at home. I understand it is just rain, but it is the FLOODING that is keeping us inside.

One of my friends said, "You're going to Disney in July? I hear it's so hot and rainy." I just looked at her and said, "Uh, how's that any different from being here--except a lot more fun!!!":lmao:
