How is the rain forest cafe? Which ones better -AK or DTD ? Hows the pricing? And my daughters a vegetarian so is their stuff for her to eat? Thanks !

The only Rainforest Cafe my family & I have been to is the on at Downtown Disney Marketplace, so I can't comment on how the one at the Animal Kingdom is. Their pricing seems to be fair & reasonable, so in my opnion they don't over charge you for some items like other restaurants in WDW. The only thing I eat there is the Planet Earth Pasta which is not vegetarian because it has sausage inside it, so I can't help you there but hopefully someone else can.

We've only been to the RFC at DTD, so I can't compare the two, but we've always enjoyed our meals there. I'm a vegetarian, and I think they have the best veggie burger on WDW property.

The biggest problem we've had at RFC is very long waits when we showed up without a reservation. When we had reservations, we were seated promptly. Reservations for the RFC at DTD aren't made through WDW Dining, they're made by calling the restaurant at 1-407-827-8500.

We've had two of our worst meals ever at the RFC-AK and RFC-DTD. Both were bad and we won't eat there again.

I've been to the AK one 2x and we are not going back. The food was OK but the service was sooooooooo slow.

Oh no, what about breakfast? Was it bad too? We have reservations at AK Rain Forest for breakfast. I thought it would be a delightful change from breakfast at our resort food court.

You can get some very good breakfast food at Tusker House and the Kusafiri Bakery at the Tusker House at AK. I never ate breakfast at RFC and I sure won't try after two out of two trips being terrible. Not just bad, terrible.

I called the AK Rainforest Cafe and asked if they had vegetarian options, and was told yes. I got there, and there were two vegetarian options: a veggie burger and a cheese pizza. I was even told I couldn't 'hold the shrimp' on their shrimp pasta dish. I'm only sort of vegetarian, so I went ahead and ordered the pasta. It was good, but it was certainly off-putting. GREAT drinks though =)

We ate at Rainforest Cafe last week at AK - we didn't have a reservation and were seated immediately. The service was fine but my kids (6,4, 22mos) didn't like the atmosphere - too loud and dark for them. They got used to it but asked to not go back.

We ate there in January for breakfast before going into AK...my family loved it...me, DH, DD9 & DD2. We had the Breakfast of Bandits it was a plate FULL of bacon, eggs and fruit. We will definitley eat there again when we go back!!

I disagree with some others here in that I don't despise this joint. The food is OK, the service sucks, and the atmosphere is great especially for youngsters. And the experience is the relatively the same at both sites.

Breakfast at RFK is awesome. You will really enjoy it. The wait is never very bad for breakfast.

ate at both - it felt like AK was smaller. other than that, they were indistinguishable and not really worth it (for me).

Thanks for the input. My dh and I discussed it. We are going to give it a try. We can always leave if no one waits on us.

I hope that you enjoy RFC! I've been to a few of them (no in FL) and they are very loud & dark...my daughter was 6 and didn't like it and my 2 year old was scared by the thunder sounds. But as long as your troop won't be bothered by that, I'd say it's a safe bet. It seems for me they're always out off an ingredient in the dish I want to order. The first time we went there they sat us at a table where the rainforest "mist" actually rained on DH & I. It was too funny!!! I hope you enjoy it!!
