RAGLAN ROADS - 10/15 -- Confessions of a Foodaholic: A DDP First Timers Review.

Day 3 - Lunch at Sci Fi

Craig and I were both very excited for the Sci Fi Resturant. I was especially looking forward to the shrimp pasta, my favourite combonation of food. Mmmm!

We checked in on time, but we still had to wait a while for our table. It was okay though because the AC was a welcome break. As we were waiting I was amazed by the number of people just walking up trying to get a table, whats worse is alot of them had no idea you even had to have reservations for the restaurants. I felt awful for those people because with free dining going on, they probably didn’t have much luck.

So we finially got called to our table, we were the hitchhikers behind a family of four. Now while I think Sci Fi has such a cool theme and atmosphere, both of us were not too fond of the seating. The family in front of us was very nice but with two little girls, one of whom was very cranky, it got somewhat annoying to be in such close quarters. Other then that though, we both really enjoyed the place.

Heres a pic of us in our car.

And one of the restaurant.

Craig got a cherry coke, which made him very excited! And i got a vanilla milkshake which was just to die for!!! Best Milkshake I’ve ever had!!

After drooling over this plate for months I ordered the shrimp pasta of course. Hold the tomatoes please!
452.jpg

It was very very very yummy! The Shrimp were huge!! I loved it!! 9/10!! It
was a HUGE portion! I could only finish half!! But i made sure to eat all my shrimp (and there were ALOT of them!)

Craig got the burger. Sorry I don’t remember the exact name of it.
451.jpg

He said it was delicious and gave it a 8/10! He also added his own touch with our initials in ketchup!! Whatta guy!
453.jpg

Our server wasn’t the greatest. He was ok but nothing more. One thing that somewhat annoyed us was he did not ask us what we wanted for dessert at the beginning of our meal, which was fine we figured we ordered at the end but he never mentioned dessert. He just brought us our the bill and asked us how we wanted to pay the tip. Craig then asked what about dessert? And he kinda seemed annoyed with us and said we never ordered them with our meal.. to which we responded we didn’t know we were supposed to?!
Anyways we did get our desserts! They weren’t very nicely put together as you will see but still very good!

I got the cheesecake
456.jpg

Loved it!!! Best cheesecake I had all trip! 10/10
Craig got the peanut butter chocolate cake
457.jpg

He also gave this dessert a 10/10 and I tried and will agree with this rating! It was so delicious! But very filling!

We enjoyed Sci Fi alot and would recommend it. The best part about this restaurant is that its very quiet! I guess with everyone enjoying the movie clips and all.

uP next... PoP Century Food Court.

Really enjoying your reviews. We really like sci-fi and the chocolate peanut butter cake sounds delicious.

I used to love the Sci Fi Dine-In Theater when I was a kid. I remember the first time they gave me a Sci Fi frisbee. That is definitely one of my priority restaurants on our next vacation.

Thanks for the reviews! It seems odd that the server at Sci Fi would expect you to order your dessert at the beginning of your meal. I don't think I've ever been asked to order like that!

omg THANK you for reviewing the pasta at SciFi! :) That's prety much allll my mom will eat there and I was freaking out because no one ever ordered it! It looks yummy!

Does anyone else remember when Sci-Fi had pop corn soup?

We ate at Sci-Fi in 2007 and were disappointed. I wasn't expecting much, we went for the ambiance but I just didn't care for the food. The theming was great and I loved that as well as the awesome air conditioning (except for the fact that I was sitting right under a vent that dripped on me the entire meal). But I wished it had been more 'drive in' food like to go with the theming. Which yes I know means hamburgers (which they had but I don't eat), hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, pop corn, nachos etc. I think I had a turkey sandwich and just didn't care for it.

Sorry to take over the post, but anyway I'm glad you had a good time and enjoyed the food!

Weird, you just might be my food-twin. :goodvibes Those cheddar-and-sour-cream Ruffles are the only potato chips I like, I also won't eat the chunks in salsa, and I've drooled over that pasta dish on the Sci-Fi menu. We've never eaten there, but I'm making a shrimp/feta pasta for dinner!

Yeah, smoked chicken is pink. I've seen warnings on the menus at barbeque restaurants - too bad that place didn't! Of course, there's still a chance that chicken *was* raw. Did it... squelch? Raw chicken is squishy and squelchy, as I unfortunately learned at a chain restaurant called Fuddrucker's

glad you liked the food at sci fi . we are going next month. sorry your waiter wasn't the best. I think sometimes that an make or break the experience.

Great reviews!

We ate at teh same place in Sea World on our last trip and we got the raw chicken too :scared1: It was totally gross!!

I'm glad you reported the shrimp were good, plenty and large - because just looking at the picture I thought - wow, I wouldnt get that - you cant even SEE the shrimp!! :rotfl:

Day 4: Dinner at Pop Century Food Court

Hi guys! Sorry I’ve been MIA! Ive had alot of stuff going on with my new job and everything. Getting back into routine after being off a month is tough!!!
But I’m back now so onto some more reviews!

So for dinner we once again decided to get some food from the PoP Century food court and bring it back to our room. This time we ordered separate meals.

I ordered the chicken penne alfrado. It was freaking AWESOME!
521.jpg

Im a huge pasta person and this was just DELICIOUS! I got some tomato sauce put on top , grabbed a bunch of parmesan cheese and red pepper packets, mixed it all up and thought I had gone to pasta heaven! 9/10!
It would have got a 10/10 but lost a point for chunky tomato sauce!!! its annoying to pick around tomato chunks!!

For dessert I grabbed a fresh cookie from the bakery food area.
519.jpg

It was yummy too! And so soft! I love soft cookies! Im gunna give this a 8/10.

Craig is a nacho guy, he almost always orders nachos when we go out so when he ordered Nachos tonight I was not surprised.
520.jpg

He thought they were pretty good and gave them a 8/10!

He got a cupcake for dessert
518.jpg

It was soo good I kinda wished I had got that instead! He gave it a 9/10 and I tried some and I agree! I heart cupcakes mmmm!

uP next: Yak and Yeti for breakfast AND lunch?!

Thanks for the reviews! It seems odd that the server at Sci Fi would expect you to order your dessert at the beginning of your meal. I don't think I've ever been asked to order like that!

i agree! i just assumed he would ask after we were done!? but we found later on they actually asked many times at the beginning what we would be having for dessert.

omg THANK you for reviewing the pasta at SciFi! :) That's prety much allll my mom will eat there and I was freaking out because no one ever ordered it! It looks yummy!

popcorn soup sounds interesting! how did that taste? sorry you didnt have a great food experiance there!

I admit that I dislike smoked meats too, because they are pink. Yuck!

ugh so gross. i guess maybe it was just smoked but to me and dbf it just looked raw

haha thats too cute! food twins!! can i come over for dinner?!

maybe it was just smoked but we looked around and it seemed like everyone else's looked cooked?! my DBF works at a resturant though and he said it looked raw! he didnt wanna try it and find out! They should definitly post a warning though if thats the case! I cant imagine most people being ok with eating pink chicken ya know!?

btw - that little girl in your sig is absolutly adorible! omg!!

glad you liked the food at sci fi . we are going next month. sorry your waiter wasn't the best. I think sometimes that an make or break the experience.

it was pretty good! im sure you'll enjoy it the atmosphere is really great! He wasnt the best but he wasnt horrible either so it was ok!

Great reviews!

We ate at teh same place in Sea World on our last trip and we got the raw chicken too :scared1: It was totally gross!!

thank u!! and ugh!! never again!! it was disgusting and the way they handled it wasnt very impressive either!!

I'm glad you reported the shrimp were good, plenty and large - because just looking at the picture I thought - wow, I wouldnt get that - you cant even SEE the shrimp!! :rotfl:

:goodvibes no problem! glad you enjoyed it and im sure you will have a great time at sci fi!

That chicken penne alfredo looked awesome! And adding tomato sauce was just pure genius! :goodvibes

I totally understand the frustration of picking out tomato chunks... it's sauce, not salsa... should be smooth! No chunks!

I don't like chunks of tomato in anything! I hate when I find chunks of tomato on my pizza... and why is it that most restaurants that add tomatoes to salads add diced tomatoes? You can never get them all, and I cringe with every bite! Ugh!

I'll have to see if that dish is available at the All-Star Movies next week... I just now know to beware of chunky tomatoes in tomato sauce...

lol! your post made me laugh! Could there be anything worse then chunky tomato sauce?! i dont think so!! ugh in pizza its the worst! because its hiding under all the cheese... and u take a bite and all u get is cooked smooshie tomato in your mouth

with salads i always ask for no tomatoes!!!

We should start a I HATE TOMATO club!!! alot of people on here seem to hate them! which makes me feel like less of a weirdo! :dance3:
