I have read some great things about Raglan Road, so for our trip in August we have made reservations there for dinner. The one things I have not see discussed, is how it is for kids? Has anyone been with their kids. I have an 8, 6 & 3 year old.

Thanks for you input!

Our kids loved it they were 5&3 at the time. We are going back this year. Unfortunately we don't do late dinners since they are so young we try to keep them on the same schedule as home. I think they would LOVE it after 9pm that is when the band and irish dancer are there but maybe in a few years. We also invite our inlaws who live in FL to come up for a few days to visit and they like to eat dinner early. The food there is DEE-LISH! The kids will have a great time. If you go before 9pm it is pretty quiet(no entertainment) and it reminds me of the irish pub where we live but with better food(our pub has good food too but RR is a lot better) and the atmosphere is cool. It is amazing they brought the bar over!
Have you checked out their website

I just checked the website...I look at it every so often because I *dream* of being there and they won the National Kid Dining Award...top 50 best places to eat with kids, they have the info on their site.

Food-wise, there's plenty of variety on the menu to appeal to all ages. But if you're staying for the entertainment (started around 8 p.m. when we were there in September) keep in mind it's very loud, and it becomes steadily more like a bar throughout the evening. When we were there, by about 8:30, there was an adult-party-like atmosphere in there with a lot of drinking (fun if you're an adult, lol) There were families in there...the school-aged kids seemed to enjoy the music, but the babies & toddlers were crying/screaming (I suppose from the noise level...seems like most little ones don't like loud noise.) If your little one doesn't like loud music, then request the back dining room.

We took our kids (then 3 and 5) last September! It was great. Our reservation was at 7pm and the band started at 8 so we got to see the irish dancer and the music. It wasn't too rowdy and they enjoyed it! We liked it so much we went to the one here in Kansas City to try to get a little piece of Disney at home.

Thanks for the review. I used the website to make an ADR for us in August. Have always wanted to try it. We will be staying at OKW so taking the launch to DTD will make it easy to travel there!

OP, thanks for asking this question!

We love Raglan Road, the food is very good with lots of variety on the menu. If going with young ones, I'd recommend an early dinner or maybe even lunch. There's definitely more of an adult party atmosphere in the late evening, say past 7:00 or so which would be ok if traveling with older teens but not so much with little ones.

Everytime Ive been there, Ive seen kids there eating and enjoying the entertainment, they always seem to love it! :thumbsup2

We ate there twice with our 3 year old last December and loved it. Once for lunch, one 5pm.

Staff very friendly with our daughter, kids menu to colour and the childrens food was excellent - far better than the usual kids fare.

DD had fish and chips which was the same as the adult dish just slightly smaller followed by ice cream which was served in a cocktail glass.

We are going back this October - must do for us.

P.S Have the bread pudding!

We sat outside with our DD2 and she loved it. The menu is good and the outdoor seating had plenty of activity during lunch.

We were there in December and my 13 and 7 year old DD's loved it. GREAT food and they put us right between the band and the stepdancer. I don't remember having late reservations and having to wait for the entertainment. But, I can't speak more highly of the food. It was so good! And the kids menu had a lot to offer.

We were there in December and both kids liked the atmosphere - DD (then 9) and DS (then 6). The food was another story.

I have fairly hearty eaters and the children's portions were far too small for my kids.

This is the kids shrimp with a salad

This was the kids mac n cheese with mashed potatoes:

The mac and cheese has a hint of garlic in it and DD wouldn't eat it. :headache:

The kids loved the music, especially the sing a long, and the Irish dancer. DD missed her Irish dance lesson the night we were there so she LOVED it. We were in a side room that had a lower ceiling and was much cozier than the large room. I have an ASD child who would not have done well with the large open room and the tons of noise so it worked out perfectly for us.

I have adult meal photos too if you are at all interested.

Hope this helps some. :)

Yes, yes & yes! I would love to see your pics. Thanks for the kids pics. My DS 6 is so excited to see the shrimp- his favorite food!

Thanks to everyonw for their responses, I feel much better about the ADR and am now very excited to go. Our ADR is 4:45, so it is early, but is ok. DS 3 still gets jumpy around too much noise in a small space.

I went to the web site - how cool!

The only thing my DS did not like about the shrimp kids meal was that it was 6 small shrimp. But he ate off our plates too so he was fine.

Appetiser D'Lirrah for Two - Dalkey Battered Sausages, Georges Bank Scallops, Guinness Glazed Ribs, and Chicken Lickin' Skewers (the Scallops were AMAZING :thumbsup2, but the chicken was really dry). I would go to RR just to have these scallops again. :)

Shepherd's Pie

December2009232.jpg

Sirloin Steak - Steak with basil and Irish Whiskey glaze. Onion straws and mashed potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked MR as I asked. The potatoes were bland. Just potatoes. No milk, butter, salt or pepper came on them. I love potatoes but could only eat a bit of these.

December2009234.jpg

Goats Town - Irish goats cheese with sauteed garlic, shallots, ****ake mushrooms in an herb and breadcrumb crust served with a berry compote and mixed greens. My SIL LOVED this meal.

Crock of Mussels

The only strange thing (I thought) about our meals was we were on DDP and our meals came with no vegetables or salad unless they were part of the entree. DBIL literally had a plate of mussels and bread and that was it. No vegetable on the side or anything.

Strawberry and Apple Crumble

December2009239.jpg

Dunbrody Kiss - Not as good as I hoped it would be. The top was delicious but the crust was - cornflakes and melted Snickers bars formed into a thin circle. It had the consistency of plastic. I finally gave up on eating the bottom and just at the top chocolate and cream filling.

December2009240.jpg

Bailey's Creme Brulee - this one I did not understand at all because it really was like a cheesecake not a Creme Brulee.

Hope this helps some. :)
