Hey everyone,

I’m at Disney Now, staying at Riviera. We’ve been here for a week now and everything has been phenomenal, and I’ve always felt safe. At least until yesterday/Wednesday evening.

We made a reservation at Raglan Road, as I haven’t been there and the person I’m traveling with really enjoyed it. I’ve heard good things and my partner really liked it.

In Raglan Road, there is the main area with stage, and there were a couple of side rooms. We were sat in one of those side rooms.

Already walking in, we could see that the tables in the main area were too close for comfort. My arm span is about 5.5 feet. As we walked through the main room, I would’ve been EASILY able to grab the shoulders of people at tables who were sitting back-to-back...I’d say about 4-5 feet of distance between most people’s backs. As we walked in, we were both pretty nervous.

In the room they sat us in, they had 4 rows of tables, with 3 tables in each row. Each row seemed to have the 6ft of distance between them, but the tables in each row definitely did not. We got sat in the last row all the way against the back wall of the room. Our row had a larger round 6-seater table in one corner, the table we got sat at was in the middle and was a normal 4-person square table, and the 3rd table in our row was a smaller counter-height table for 2. All the tables in our row were empty when they sat us.

When they sat us, we felt okay because we figured they were keeping the other tables in our row empty to keep people distanced. So we took our masks off, and ordered drinks and food.

After we ordered they then sat a full 6 people at the larger round table. When they sat down, we were both very nervous and put our masks back on. My partner was sitting with his back to them and he could’ve simply turned around in his chair, reached out with one arm and touch the other person sitting behind him. It was definitely not 6 feet. Again, back-to-back...about 4 feet.

We discussed our nervousness with each other. As we were talking, they then tried to sit the bar-height 2 seater in the other corner of the room. They simply declined to even sit down because of how close the tables were. They took them somewhere else...not sure if they left, or if they got put somewhere else.

This all happened before our waitress came back with our drinks. We decided to just simply get everything to go. While waiting for our waitress to come back with the drinks, another table that was sat in the middle of another row in the same room also decided they weren’t comfortable with the situation they were in and got up and left...they hadn’t even ordered yet.

Our waitress came back with the drinks and we expressed our concern and asked for our food to go. She went and got the manager for us.

He came back and we restated our concerns to him. He offered to move us to one of the larger 6-seater tables in the same room, but we were already nervous about the setup of this room and we asked if we could be sat outside. There was a slight drizzle all evening so it was pretty wet, but we figured with an umbrella and a towel, it would be okay. He again tried to convince us to take a different table in the same room, but we were persistent. He said he’d see what he could do. He was very nice and understanding saying that the table we were at was the worst table for social distancing....however in my opinion the middle table in each of the 4 rows simply should’ve not been there at all.

Eventually he came back and said he had a more private room for us and we’d be the only ones in there. We agreed to be moved there. He moved us to a kind of semi-private room off the main room with the stage. It’s kind of hard to describe...essentially a few tables in an area off the main room that’s sectioned off with wood walls that are the height of cubicle walls? They don’t go up to the ceiling, so not a completely separate room, but kind of like if you had a birthday party and wanted your own space.

We were offered any table in the room, and we agreed to take the farthest table in the corner. The manager ensured our food and orders were transferred and no one else was sat in our little area. Our waitress still did a fantastic job. She came and checked on us, even though we were now way out of her section. After moving, we felt comfortable and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

The food was good, the singing and dancing was entertaining! We ordered some dessert. We didn’t ask for it, but the manager gave us the dessert for free...so I added the cost of the dessert to the normal tip I would give to the waitress as she did a great job.

TLDR: a good portion of Raglan Road’s tables aren’t properly socially distanced. We asked to be reseated and, to Raglan Road’s credit, they made it right for us. Aside from the initial seating arrangements, we are happy with the experience and would go back once COVID is behind us. But if you have any nervousness about social distancing and such right now, I’d stay away from Raglan until things are more normal.

@YourEveryDayAdam thanks for the report, that's good to hear how they were operating. After hearing Pete's expereince at Boathouse and saying he'll never go back because of the complete lack of social distancing it would seem that either Disney or the Health Department needs to help these restaurants out, if it's not safe for the guests then it's not safe for the staff and that's who I worry most about personally.

Thank you for the report. Had a similar experience to Pete at The Boathouse back in mid-July and, while I like the restaurant a great deal, I won’t be going back anytime soon even post-COVID-19. If you’re willing to cut corners re: health and safety in plain view, my attitude is I don’t know what other corners you may be willing to cut that I can’t see.

I’d advise anyone going to have dinner at the Springs to research ahead of time. After reading some positive reports, I tried both Paddlefish and Terralina and had absolutely wonderful experiences. Terralina in particular was a surprise. I was not only impressed with their health and safety protocols (even gave you a bag with the restaurant logo to put your mask in while you ate) but also with the food, service, and price. Disappointing that not all restaurants at DS can be as responsible but, as always, do your research. Thanks for the report!

I would also avoid Kona and 50s prime time, as those were the 2 we felt unsafe at, definitely less than 6 feet back to back when people are seated, more like 3-4 ft.

Thanks for your review - I heard one other similar story regarding Raglan Road and it, along with a handful of others (including those mentioned above) are off our list for now - and maybe forever. How businesses are handling things right now sure affects how I might support them longterm.

Good for you for standing up for yourself.

thanks for this report! We've been going back and forth over cancelling a Raglan Road ADR on Wed, Sept 14. Consider it cancelled! At least, we don't have to worry about it anymore and hopefully, we'll be back on day.

I guess we were lucky our table was kind of in a corner well away from others, but now that you mention it overall the tables weren't spaced out the best there or at the Boathouse (we ate inside and another time outdoors in which the table was okay). At Ragland we did have a little girl at the table near us that was running around the dining area "dancing" I was surprised (but not I guess) that the parents didn't stop her as she was right next to us sometimes and the staff didn't say anything either even when a couple of the waitresses almost collided with her.

I would like to read Pete's experience at Boathouse. Where is that?

Thank you for the warning and information, and replies to you gave more information too.

Thanks for your report. How did you feel about Disney Springs overall - main walkways, shops etc.? I love Disney Springs and many of the restaurants there but I skipped it last week on our visit because I've seen too many reports about crowds, lack of distancing, and seemingly lower mask enforcement and compliance.

I would also add Homecomin to that list. We seriously debated just getting up and leaving, and I ultimately wish we had. Most uncomfortable I felt all trip was at that restaurant. Sat outside at Wine Bar George a different night and it was wonderful but the indoor area is not distanced either. DS in general had significantly less mask compliance too. Much more of a pre-Covid feeling than anywhere else on Disney property.

DH walked out of the world of Disney while I waited in line to pay before store closing as he felt so uncomfortable...

Overall, I felt that Disney Springs was fine... in general. World of Disney was definitely busier, but I never felt uncomfortable. I can definitely understand why some people would feel uncomfortable there though. It was definitely not as well done as the parks themselves. The parks themselves were fantastic! Mask compliance was lower, but we’ve seen mask enforcement and lack of mask enforcement at both Springs and the parks. In general, I’d say mask enforcement between the parks and springs was equal. Basically, if any cast member noticed someone not wearing a mask or not wearing it correctly, they were asked to put on their mask.

We did Homecomin as well and it was on the borderline for us. I can definitely understand the apprehension here. Any more people and/or any closer and we would’ve been uncomfortable...but it wasn’t over the line like it was at Raglan.

We also ate at Morimoto this trip and felt perfectly fine there. Lots of distancing.

Did you eat inside at Homecoming? We have eaten there several times recently because of their patio and felt very comfortable but I haven't stepped foot inside since the reopen.

Have there been any reports of people reporting their concerns about restaurants or stores not following guidelines to the local government?

I am glad they accommodated you! We had an uncomfortable experience at Raglan Road too and wished we had said something in hindsight. We were seated in the main room across the aisle from one of the bars, definitely not 6 feet away. When the band started, the two men across from us at the bar who had their backs to the stage turned around and stood to see the music (naturally!). They didn’t have masks on and one of them was coughing a lot directly in our direction. We requested our bill immediately. I wish I had pointed out that there wasn’t sufficient space for our table and anyone who wanted to see the music.

We ate on the patio at Homecomin’ and it was absolutely fine. We ate on the Boathouse patio and felt it was borderline. The walkway with tables was tight so people passed very nearby but the tables themselves were properly socially distanced, IMO. We ate inside at City Works and that was great since the restaurant was nearly empty (I don’t know why, the food was good!).

The only other place we had issues with was Beaches & Cream. We were pretty close to our neighbors.

If RAGLAN ROAD is NOT following Safety protocol it should be REPORTED to the Health DEPT. Why is it that this same restaurant is singled out? Appears like it’s still happening and it Shouldn’t be. Fla has made such progress, this truly Angers me!
DO SOMETHING DISNEY!

So to be on the safe side would you advice dining in the parks vs Disney springs area? This is a concerning to hear, we have a trip scheduled for December.

At Terralinas currently waiting for my reservation. There are markers on the ground outside the door. But the door is half closed and you cannot see inside easily. You have no choice but to checkin at their front podium, and its packed in that little lobby. Its Sunday night. DS is packed. Someone should be at that door directing people or something, or doing something to help with distsncing. Hoping the service for the meal is better than the first impression. Because right now I just want to leave.

PS The hostess at the front desk cannot be bothered to wear her mask. Hungry and didn't really notice it at first.
