Radiator Springs Racers: Latest Wait Times?

If you do EE at DCA will they let you do the child switch pass for RSR? Or,do you have to wait until opening to do that?
We have a 2 year old, but we're hoping everyone who was tall enough could ride RSR once before we got in line for the FP.
How old do you have to be to ride if you are in the single pass. line?

Thanks

Getting pretty excited about our trip. 26 days to go!

Last time i went, which was last week, the wait time was 40 some minutes and that was at like 5pm ish...

I hope it's like that in 3 weeks when we're there. 40 minutes would be no big deal, I'm just concerned about a 3 hr wait - I know DH (disabled) would not be able to wait in a line that long without a restroom break.

Then I would suggest a FP. The wait is then broken up and will be shorter than 3 hours total. Also, he could leave the FP line if he needed to and you could get his FP for him as long as you have his park ticket that has been scanned in to the park. Last July we waited in line to get FPs for about 45 min, then we waited only about 10-15 min in the FP line at the ride. So, only an hour total.

Thanks for the great, detailed info amommy21!

Really hoping mid-week crowds in mid-Oct. will be more manageable...we don't have any EE/EMH :-( Just a 2-day PH staying off-site....
(sigh)....

We are going Oct 18-20th, we were hoping for same but it is fall break so I don't think we will be so lucky!

Any tips for those WITHOUT an EE or MM?

We will be there mid week during the first week of October.

I had planned on getting in at open & heading straight to RSR. But should I now plan on getting to the gates earlier? Seems several folks mentioned them opening at 8:30.

Single rider isn't an option with DS & I thought I may attempt to get a FP so we could try & ride twice. Any suggestions??

im going mid week first week oct im gona be at the gates early knowing at a 10 opening we may egt let in about 9 or 930 so im planing on being there early enough to be a first 10 or so in line to get in park early when they allow us in. Im heading right for where the rope drop cms will be for cars land and will wait there till its time to go in cars land

Here right now. Of course it's labor day, and almost noon but current wait time is 160 minutes..

Without EE, FPs are still a viable option. Just send one person straight to the FP line after you enter the park. Return time will likely be late afternoon or early evening.

I'd have one adult go directly to the FP line while the other goes in the standby line with DS. The problem is, if you don't have EE, if you get an FP first, by the time you get to RSR it might be a massive line - especially if it is an EE morning. On the other hand, if you get in the standby line first, you might be in line so long (esp. if there is a breakdown) that you will miss FP distribution entirely.

We went on a morning with no EE last weekend, so everyone was going in at the same time. By 8:25, the lines were back to the DL turnstiles. We still did get FPs - my DH got in line around 9, when we got in, and was out by 9:25 with FPs for 1-2 pm - but the standby line was 120 minutes by 9:15.

Personally, if we had no access to EE, I would NOT line up at the gates an hour early to be the first at rope drop. Especially if there is EE for others that morning. It just makes no sense to me. When you include your waiting outside and at rope drop, you end up waiting at least 90 minutes to ride RSR (which you can do at some other time during the day without having gotten up at the crack of dawn), AND you've most likely missed your opportunity to get a FP. IF there is no EE, and you are one of the first in line, and there are no breakdowns, you might be able to ride and get a FP. But those are a lot of "ifs." I felt so bad for the people on Sunday and Monday who undoubtedly showed up an hour early to be the first in line for rope drop . . . both days RSR broke down just a few minutes after park opening - i.e., before anyone who came in for regular rope drop got on the ride. :faint:

Hopefully, things will calm down by the time you go!

Well- I've looked at the schedule & there is NOT a EE/MM for the day we plan on being in DCA. However- I know that the on site hotel guests had EE just about every morning during the summer time. Will this still be in effect for the 1st week of Oct?

My thinking is that we will need to be there earlier then official park open. Just in case they let people in ahead of time...

I think I may try & get a FP while I send my boys to wait in line. I just don't see any other better strategy- guess I will just hope they don't let on site guests in with an EE :-/

Depending on the ages and how bad you want to ride together, Single Rider, early in the day, is a good option as well. At least when we were there, the SR line was very short early in the day. In the evening, it was almost as bad as the regular line.

We did single rider twice in a row during the last half of EE, with only 5-10 minute waits, when the standby line was 60-80 minutes.

DS is 7- so single rider won't work...

In early August, we arrived at DCA around 9:00-9:15 (opening was at 8:00) and got a FP for RSR for 6:00 that evening. Came back at 6:30 to find the ride was just re-opening after a 2 1/2 hour shutdown, and walked right on.

My advice would be not to waste time waiting in the FP line, but pass by about an hour or so after opening and see what the FP line looks like and if you can make the return time, grab a FP and enjoy the rest of the parks.

Most people here know that RSR is just like Test Track at EpCot. That ride still breaks down EVERY DAY. It's just one of those things. :confused3

Au contraire! 7 is the magic age! He can ride alone at 7, which means that he can use the SR line. Now whether you want him to ride alone is another matter...
