I think my kids are going to LOVE Radiator Springs Racers. Is it worth getting in line during early entry and “wasting” that time to be able to ride it once without LL and once with?

It is a really fun attraction, and it hits differently in the morning than at night…. so I would recommend trying it at both times of day if you can.

One thing to mention is that EVERYONE else is trying to RD RSR and GOTG as well…. so most of the other attractions are walk ons….

Personally, I wouldn’t spend the entire 30 minutes of EE in the RSR queue. I would ride one of the nearby E-ticket rides (GotG or Webslingers) and then queue up for RSR. Your main goal should be to beat the non-EE guests to the RSR queue. Keep in mind that RSR does not always open promptly at 8:00 so there is a chance that you may need a plan B if you are planning to rope drop RSR.

We have done RSR and the other rides many times so we never rush over there. If I had not done them and its my first time there I would do Maters, Luigis, and take pictures around that, maybe go over to Web Slingers or GotG and get LL for RSR if it's not too much. We usually grab a snack or drink and go wait in the line at night when it gets to 60 min. We have been very lucky that last few times it says 60 min but it has been between 30-45 min

If you are nice about it the CMs in the area usually have a good idea how it's going and will let you know the odds. If you ask in a way that you are cool no matter what they say vs I'll go ask for the manager if what you say doesn't come true your odds of a good honest answer go way up. We usually have two chances at DCA EE on our trips and don't try and do racers for both but I'll try and ask to get a feel if it's worth going for it. If they do plan on opening on time they will sometimes allow the EE resort guests to line up a few min before park opening. We have had some good luck with 10 to 20 min lines doing this.

One observation from our recent trip for the 70th is that we were able to get on just after 9pm when WOC started with a wait time showing 60 min and the line was 23 min. Almost no LL activity and we walked way into the queue before stopping. It was also super dead the morning after the VP's visit (7/13) with times showing like 30 to 45 min all morning but we were smashing all of the rides on the Pixar Pier loop on our way and then it had an extended breakdown.

The last time I was there they actually opened the ride a bit early, which was nice. But I think ideally as someone else mentioned I'd probably try to do some other rides during early entry first and then get into RSR line a little bit before official park opening

I think the one thing to always keep in your mind/consider is what you can do instead of RSR first thing in the AM in the place of taking the RSR gamble. We have had one great early AM experience going for RSR racers but most mornings we do other things and get a lot of value by taking the gamble and doing RSR later in the day and getting on with a 40 ish min wait.

Here was our route for one of the mornings we did EE at DCA. We were entertaining our family who wanted to crush some rides -

Guardians - if you are early into the line for early entry you can get this done in 10 to 15 min (make sure to ask a friendly CM if they have at least two lifts operational if you can). If only one lift is running recommend to use your EE time on other rides.
Webslingers - quick 5 min walk on and about 10 min in total.
Monsters Inc - 5 (or less) min waits until about 9am.
Little Mermaid - walk on.
Goofy Sky School (x2+ if you wish) - walk on. Kids did another round but one ride was enough for us....
Swings/Inside Out/Pal-A-Round - we skip this these and come back in a bit as it stays lower later in the AM but usually very low wait until 10am+.
Toy Story Mania - Good value to get on this with a sub 10 min wait before it is nuked by LL later in the day.
End at Incredicoaster - 10 to 15 min wait. Go back and do the skipped 3 and reward your wins with a delicious regular/spicy corn dog as a reward.

Keep going and the day is yours or go relax in the room and hit it hard in the evening.

If you are EE, then there is always a chance that RSR opens early. Last time we did EE (January) it opened at 7:45 and we were off before 8. I wouldn't count on it, but it does happen.

Thanks everyone for the input and great suggestions! I think RSR is going to be very busy when we are there the 8th due to the upcoming refurbishment. We made the decision to maximize our time during early entry doing other things and will just bite the bullet and buy the LLSP for the four of us. We are still hoping that crowds will be manageable with it being that back to school and before Halloweentime part of the month. Can’t wait to be there next week!
