Day 1, Sat 10th March.

It had finally arrived after all the waiting and planning and excitement!
Today was the day we were going to begin our trip to Disneyland Paris!!!! :woohoo:

I was shattered after finishing the packing around 2AM, but by 8 we were both up and raring to go. The morning was fairly relaxed, even though Jaci was hyper. Did the final things in preparation to leave, I had a nice long soak and then it was 11.30 and my Dad arrived to take us to the train station. By 11.35 all the bags (We had 2 suitcases, 2 rucksacks and 2 winter coats for just us 2) were in the car and we set of to pick up my DF, her son and their luggage. We left their house at 11.45 and popped back to my parents to say bye to Mum and pick up an extra padlock for DF’s suitcase (hers had vanished the night before) and then we were off! :drive:

Both kids get travel sick but had taken ‘Joy Rides’ and were really good in the car. It took less than an hour to get to Doncaster train station and we were there in plenty of time.
Our train was at 13.38 so we said bye to my Dad and headed in to the station. Found the loo and the right platform then we settled into the waiting room and the kids ate some of their lunch. Then the train arrived, on time :faint: The journey down was easy, but exciting as we knew we were really off on our trip! :cheer2:  :cheer2:
We arrived at London King’s Cross on time at 15.21 and went to get a black cab to our hotel.
In we all got but we had to put some of the luggage in the front passenger seat as we couldn’t fit it all in the back. Then after a brief journey (£12) we were at our hotel by 4PM.

We had chosen to stay at the ‘London County Hall, Premier Travel Inn’ because of its proximity to Waterloo and its reasonable price. We had a family room (£94 night) for all 4 of us. Check-in was very easy and the staff were friendly. We were allocated room 302 and headed up to get rid of the bags. We opened the door to a nice big (until we compared it with our return trip – LOL) room. There was lots of space around the beds. We had a double bed, a single bed settee and a pull-out floor level bed. Also TV, 2 armchairs, wardrobe, and another cupboard along the wall. There was a kettle and tea/coffee provided and also a hairdryer. The kids decided DF and her son would take the single beds for this night while Jaci and I would share the double and then we would swap over on the return journey.
When we looked out of the window we had a great view looking out over the side of the London Eye and Jubilee Gardens (I had asked for this when I booked the room but it was a special touch as I’d forgotten all about it).

The kids could see the play area in Jubilee Gardens from the window, so after we’d found PJ’s for the night we headed out for a walk. The kids had a nice play and enjoyed running off some steam after the travelling. DF and I sat and enjoyed the view of the London Eye (I’d never seen it before) in the sun and chatted.
Then we walked over to Waterloo to make sure we knew where we were going for the morning. It was only a 5 min (10 with suitcases) walk from the hotel to the Eurostar check-in entrance. We made sure there was plenty of options for lunch and breakfast in the station and were very pleased with how much choice was available.
Then we popped into the McDonalds in Waterloo for a quick tea before heading out for a wander around. We walked back past the hotel to see the London Eye all lit up in the dark then walked under it and along the bank of the Thames looking over at Big Ben. Jaci was so excited to see ‘Peter Pan’s clock’. We went part way up Westminster Bridge to get better pics of Big Ben and a diff view of the London Eye. We were all getting tired by then so we headed back to the hotel for around 7.30PM to relax and get the kids a relatively early night ready for heading to Disney the next day. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: We all went to bed at the same time so the kids could have the lights off and get to sleep quicker.

I’ll try and add some pics later!
