Race Reports, Kudos and Encouragement for 4th of July Racers!

Stephanie -- a trophy! You go girl!!!!

Meghan -- 11:00 in JULY?!?!?!?!?!? I don't care what your finish time was -- You lived!!! That's awesome in itself!

Cam -- I think it's amazing that you continue to improve. That is hard-earned and well-deserved! Give yourself credit.

And everyone -- thanks for the well-wishes. I didn't mean to highjack the thread and detract from the accomplishments of these WISH team members. Jackie introduced herself to me at our Galloway group -- Gotta love those WISH shirts -- you can spot me a mile away! My "issue" is just a little over-50-and-female matter that has to be taken care of. It has just derailed my training for a while -- and I have so many great races planned for this year! Arrrrrgh! Right now, I'm just waiting to see how things work themselves out. Thanks for your concern -- You're the best!

Jackie, Congratulations! 12 min miles is fantastic! So what even if it would have been DLF you know the WISH Team equation! You are fast by my standards too!

Wendy, PD to you. :wizard: WISHing that all will be well.

Meghan, Congratulations! You did great! Don't be disappointed at all. By my math, you would have beaten that 40 minutes with time to spare! The route was only a teensy bit short. You done good for sure.

Cam, Congratulations! You are improving. Your goal is certainly one that you can meet. You WILL get there. In the meantime Wow! You are doing fantastic!

Stephanie, Congratulations! You did so good. Even checking on the sidelined young one as you blew past. Wow!

Jackie, Meghan, Cam, and Stephanie - Way to go!

I ran in a 5K today, the 22nd Annual Firecracker 5K in Wilmington, Delaware. This was my third year to run in it.

Here are my 5K results for today:

Mile 1: 7:43
Mile 2: 8:21
Mile 3: 8:21

I finished with an overall, unofficial, time of 26:08. The results were one or two people off so I am going by my Garmin time on this one.

2005 Results: 28:19
2006 Results: 26:10
2007 Results: 26:08

Stephanie
: AWESOME TIME IN YOUR 5K!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Jackie: Way to go!!! :cheer2:

Hi Guys!!

I finally got a chance to get on. I am alive and well after The Peachtree Road Race 2007. I am not quite sure of my time. Well to be honest, I wasn't really keeping up with it. I just wanted that shirt and not be last!!!:rotfl: I was in the last group (9) and we didn't get across the starting line until a little after 8:30. I ran and walked. I felt so good and so much better than last year. I had on my wish shirt and several people commented the quote was great.

Wendy - Didn't think I'd seen you recently. Something about that bright yellow shirt being hard to miss... Hope you're able to get back soon!

Meghan - As hard as it is to do, I think you're probably better off doing the intervals for the first couple of miles and then running non-stop at the end. That's what the Galloway plan is supposedly training us to do - stick with intervals until the last couple of miles and then have enough left to go all out. Today I really think I could have run the last half-mile - or maybe mile - if I hadn't been trying to stay with Gina. But I opted for companionship over time!

Cam - Improvement is improvement, even if that sub-40 hasn't happened yet. I thought about you while I was running this morning and crossed my fingers that today would be the day, but you're SO close! (And remember, a few years ago none of us believed we'd even be running a block or more!)

Stephanie - I'm so envious of a DOWNHILL course. We kept trying to figure out how the course designers were able to create an all UPHILL course! What an awesome time!

Howard - Amazing finish!

Jackie

Lan- Great job! I'm hoping to do the Peachtree some day since my brother lives in Atlanta.

Jackie- Congrats on your PR!

Meghan- Good job getting through a tough run!

Cam- Wow!

Stephanie-What a cool trophy!

Howard- Great run!

Sorry if I missed anyone!

CONGRATULATIONS Jackie, Meghan, Cam, Stephanie, Howard, & Lan! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Wendy - pixiedust: & :grouphug:

Stephanie - Sorry I didnt’ get back on yesterday to read your report here. Awesome job and a trophy to boot!!! :woohoo: What did the kids think of that? Did your little one try to commandeer it like she did with your Minnie medal? :goodvibes

Meghan – Whatever you are doing is obviously working for you because that pace is awesome, regardless of the distance. I know what you mean, though. I just cannot stick to intervals during a race. I seem to want to run (oops, I mean “jog”) when I should be walking. I think I may persuade myself for the next one to jog 2/w3 starting from the beginning and see if that helps my pace/results. But you were totally cooking – and I don’t just mean due to the heat! Congratulations!

Lan – so glad you posted. Great job on your race!

Okay, I have more news to share. Ready for this? I WON a trophy!!!!! :woohoo: I wasn’t there to hear my name announced or to receive it, but it is right there on the official results webpage!!! Third place among the walkers! I’m still not sure I feel right registering as a walker when I jog parts of the race, but I think I am still only jogging 10-20% of the time, so I also wouldn’t feel right registering as a runner (though someday I hope to really feel that I am a runner — right now I am thrilled to be an “athlete” at any level).

My first trophy!!! WOW! I didn’t expect it to mean so much. After all, I’ve finished 2 half-marathons, a full marathon, 2 15k’s and probably 20 5ks. For some reason – this means a lot. :)

Cam--WTG on the trophy! You deserve it! Oh, and yes, Emma has run off with my trophy already--she's beginning to get quite a collection--at least when it's a Disney race, we're not required to buy any extra souveniers, the medal is enough for her.

Stephanie -- what a riot! I can just imagine Emma princess: with this total stash of race bling, kind of like Ariel's grotto, dreaming of a day when she can be part of the race world, like her very talented Mommy! :goodvibes :lovestruc

Meghan--Great job on your race! I agree that you definetely would have been under 40 min!

Cam--Awesome job! It is great to see how you have improved that last few years!! That is great! And a TROPHY!! That is AWESOME!!!! Keep up the good work!

Stephanie--Wow! You are a speed demon! Awesome time in your 5k...I wish I could run that fast! Keep up the good work!

Wendy--:wizard: Sending some PD your way!!

Howard--another speed demon! Great job on your race!! Keep up the good work!

Lan--WTG on your race! It doesn't matter when you finished...the best part is getting out there and just getting in the race!! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all the support!!!!

All I can say is I WAS NOT LAST!!!!!:rotfl:  :rotfl:
