Bill - how was your race? :goodvibes

Did my 5k....24 min...
I WOULD have placed 3rd in my age group but...
I DID NOT PICK UP MY CHIP! :headache:
That is one of the nightmaress I have always had...and it came true. I had read there would be no chips and did not notice that everyone else had one..EXCEPT ME! :confused3
DH did it (with no chip too) 32 min. DBIL did it in 30 min (No chip) I took everyone down the no chip road!
So no BLING! But I guess I should be happy that, I really did come in 3rd in my age group.:snooty:

Oh, no, Christa! Bummer about the chip. But, congrats on the great time!!!!

Speaking of nightmares about the chip, I lived it this past weekend. LONG story short, I forgot my chip for the full last sunday. I know, I know - you put the darn thing on your shoe the night before so you won't forget to put it on the next morning. But I didn't. :sad2: :headache: DH, Steve, had to bring the chip to me. I managed to get it on my shoe around the Poly but I didnt' get an a start time or 5K time. I did get a finish time so I'm hoping that I will still get a finisher's certificate.

Again, congratulations to you, DH and DBIL. All great times!!!

Well the 5k was today, I guess I put the date down wrong. :rolleyes1

The plan earlier in the week was to try to survive it without too much pain. Each day I felt a little better. The weather this morning was 65 degrees and foggy. A little too familiar for my tastes. :lmao:

Since the race was only for employees at Harris, I knew several runners. There was one guy on my team who was talking about doing an 8 minute pace and he went on and on with it.

After the start, the first few steps my body was trying to figure out what I was doing to it. The coworker passed me after .1 miles but it didn't look like he was doing the pace he wanted. After .5 miles I passed the guy and felt fairly good so my new goal was to beat him. I did the first mile in 8:25 and figured I needed to slow down a little. During a 2 minute walk he passed me again but wasn't going fast. I caught up quickly during the run segment and never saw him again until the little out and back. At the second mile I was at 18:05. A little slower but the humidity was getting to me again and my legs were a little stiff.

I finished at 28:40 which was 50 seconds better than last year and 20 seconds better than my previous PR. It was a nice race although it was a little difficult going out that fast after the marathon on Sunday.

Billy and Timmy got some nice stuffed animals though at the kids area so they are happy with everything now.

Christa i'm so mixed for you- absolutely amazed by your time, you did brilliantly! On the other hand i'm gutted you weren't acknowledged for your fab effort. Oh well, we'll all cheer for you!

Bill sounds like you did a great race too, anything with toys is definitely a winner for me! Well done for achieving your goal too :woohoo:

Friday night flight + weather/maintenance delayed takeoff + "severe" rain + arriving home at 0200 + waking at 0700 to find it still pouring rain + the course being entirely on trails and sand = thndrmatt staying in bed and missing the race :sad2:

Christa, so very sorry about the chip!! But WOW!! You did great!!
Bill, Oh, I am so glad your race was today!! I really felt badly about not getting the thread posted in time. Fantastic on a new 5K PR!! :woohoo:
Matt, proud of you for sleeping in. I have a theory..you sign up for all of these events to avoid doing home maintenance on the weekends!! Right, Cheryl?? :lmao:

Bill - Awesome job! And stuffed animals? How great is that?

Matt - Sometimes you're just supposed to sleep in :thumbsup2

Christa - Hooray on the terrific time. Too bad it's not official! :rolleyes1 But that's okay, we know you rock! :worship:
