Disfan11 running the Husky Dawg Dash (University of Washington in Seattle, WA) 10K with my 17 year old son.
It's the 26th annual run and the last time we can run on the current track inside the stadium. They will be tearing it down soon for renovations.
This is also my alma mater!

Good luck to everyone else running this weekend!:cool1:

Good luck all, and stay safe. Brandon, I hope this is the first of many.

I've been looking forward to this race for a year. It's a little tough, several big hills. I really, really want to do well. I ran with a friend last year and the hills were too much for her, we ended up walking a lot of them. I am aiming to take 2 minutes/mile off my time. Probably not realistic, but if I'm going to dream, I might as well dream big. My motivation will come from that and from needing to finish and get home in time for my son to take the car to work. :)

Definitely will be the first of many!!!!!!

As for your run, all you need is to think happy thoughts....and something I forgot....Oh dust! You can fly, you can fly!

:) I knew those hills were bad but they were MUCH worse than I remembered. So why am I smiling? Because I finished first in my division at about 1:32. I couldn't stick around afterward but did have time to check out the early results. When I saw that 9:14 pace, on those hills, faster than last week which was an almost completely flat course, I couldn't believe it. Had to go in the corner and cry a little bit. :confused3 I am improving so fast now and am hitting all my goals.

Now I need to concentrate on the marathon - just 6 weeks away! - and try to get caught up on mileage.

Pensgirl10 -- MAJOR Kudos!! That is fantastic! You have much to celebrate indeed!

I finished my half marathon in 2:04:05. I'm generally pretty low-key, but I do have to point out that this is a 22 minute PR. :woohoo:

I do wish I had managed to go 13 seconds faster, because I would have loved to have matched the time of my first race - the 2002 Army Ten Miler. But I'm proud of myself for not obsessively watching my Garmin (not that I didn't check it but I didn't obsess over it and mainly ran by feel) so I'm ok that I didn't hit it.

WOW. Congratulations! Welcome to PR week here at the DIS, be sure to come back for the next edition. :)

Congrats everybody! The cool weather is bringing out the speedy times. Fantastic results that all can be proud of.

Myrtle was a really flat course. It was a great morning for a run. I took the early shuttle bus from my resort to the race start. About half the people on that bus had run Disney races. I wonder if the experience at Disney made them paranoid about being bussed to the start?

pensgirl, did you use my mantra "YOU CAN FLY!"? If so, I'll take a little cred for your great run! lol.

My first race was a success in my eyes as well. I finished slightly off my very ambitious goals. My goal was to finish in 24 flat or under and place in the top 3 of my age group. I ended up finishing 4th in my age group and 46th overall (out of over 300 runners). My time was chip-timed 24:49.

I can't really complain about my overall results. I had a tough age group since the top 3 in my group all finished under 22 minutes.

ANOTHER PR!!! ;) You did great! You're hard on yourself, but part of improving is the desire to do better so I can't fault you for that. The experience of racing is not the same as running. It will be interesting to see how you do in your second race, now that you've been in that atmosphere.

No I didn't use your mantra. Mine was something like "the faster you go, the faster you will be out of this hell".

And speaking of meeting goals, I did not meet my goal of taking 2 min/mile off my pace but 1:32/mile isn't too shabby. I will probably never do that again. LOL
