It's not even 8:30 and I'm already home from my 5k. A PR for me, but, then again, I've never run a 5k, just a 10k, halves and fulls. I managed 22:06 and came in 3rd for the women!!!!! :yay:

:woohoo: Tandy! I find it so funny that you've run the Goofy but never a 5k! WTG on the speedy finish!

I survived my 4th RadioU 5K. If I had to describe the race in 1 word. that would be Hot. The race started a little after 7:00p.m. with a temp. of 84 degrees, 89 with the heat index.

The race started a little bit late because of a large number of last minute registrations. I think they ended up with close to 400 entrants. Because of construction, they had to move the race from it's normal location to park around a local dam. The first .1 miles were on a fairly narrow trail before reaching the 1 lane road that crosses the dam, so most of the first .5 mile was fairly congested before people started spreading out. I started just slightly ahead of where I should have been and ended up going out a little fast for the conditions. I finished that first 1/2 mile at an 11:37 pace, Once we crossed the dam the rest of the first mile was a steady uphill. and I finished the first mile at a 12:09 pace. Mile 2 was out and back a local road where they had blocked off one lane for the race. Finished mile 2 it in 12:36. Right about the 1 and 2 mile mark there was a water stop set up . I passed it by the first time because I was carrying my own water. On the way back though I decided the best course of action was to dump it over the head. Because of the heat and starting out too fast, I was pretty spent by the 3rd time. Even though it was mostly downhill, I could only manage a 12:52 pace. I was able to run the final .1 miles at a 10:42 pace. So. I ended up finishing with a Garmin time from start line to finish line of 38:39. Official gun times haven't been reported yet but is probably in the up 39's. He was calling general times and I know I was accross the line before he annouced 40:00 (the big race clock was malfunctioning). Given the heat I'm pleased with the results and the new PR. Had the weather cooperated I was hoping for a 36:xx. In fact, I had a 37:30 in training about a month ago. I've done 4 of the 5 RadioU 5K's and have PRed in each one.

2007- 59:09 (all walking no training)
2008 - Missed that year
2009 - 47:01 (Mostly walking)
2010 - 43:39

Congratulation to everyone else racing this weekend.

Awesome job! I love running races out by the legends since it's relatively flat for KC. The last time I ran a race there I PR'd (not nearly as speedy as you though!)

Congrats to everyone on the races--especially the PRs!

I ended up not doing Survivor Harbor this AM. I was playing a wait and see with the weather game, and the weather won. It's seriously hot and humid and I've been feeling a bit under the weather. I never registered, so I just did my LR yesterday.
