Hey all – a little late on the forecast for race weekend.

For a while it looks as though the weather has been trending about 10-15F above normal. While many like the warmer weather it is really not conducive to a great marathon. More optimal race start temps would be in the mid 40’s through mid 50’s. Try to stay hydrated once you arrive in Orlando. The humidity and heat can zap your fluid levels with little effort. If you have notes, look at hydration rates you used earlier in the training cycle and think about what your plan of attack should be during the races. Don’t go wild and drink a lot more than you normally would on a warm day, but understand you may need additional fluids…. Drink to thirst. Take the first few miles a little easier than you think that you could run and you should have a good race.

Between now and race weekend the Orlando area will be slammed with cold that has not been seen since January 2010. We will suffer a freeze Tuesday morning and low 30’s Wednesday morning. For those who may recall, record hot races have occurred when I stay at OKW and record cold when I stay monorail. I guess the monorail streak ends – fortunately it’s not record warm

Ugg. I was so hoping we'd get some cooler temps this year. Oh well, nothing I can control and we will just have to be careful again to manage the heat.

One of the reasons it's called endurance running. Be smart and be safe.

DW and I did a nice 5.5 miler. 62F to start, shorts and sleeveless W.I.S.H. shirt for me. Started at 0615 which would be close to DW's half start. Sun is up and starting to do it's thing.......warming!!!!

Unlike most everybody else, we have been out in this weather and know what it is like, so as inferred by coach, RACE SMART.

Thanks for the Temps!

Wondering what time is sunup? What are the forecast lows?

Hoping we'd get an hour or so pre-sun, and hopefully a few more hours before we lose the night time cool....

(and here I was all about getting throwaway clothes..... now I'm just hoping to remember to keep on enough that they don't escort me off the course!)

This is reminding me of last year. Each day the temps go higher and higher.

Begin civil twilight 6:54 a.m.
Sunrise 7:19 a.m.

The irony, for the weather, is that we will have freezing temps mid week prior to the marathon. I have to pick all my tangerines and lemons today.

Sigh. Guess I need to pack my running speedo. Like everyone else I was hoping for cooler temps. I only really noticed the temperature during the full last year so the rest of the races might not be bad.

Doesn't look like I will be needing throw aways this year which is a good thing since I am trying to get away with just a carry on.

I have done 2010 that was no fun at all but I remember last years marathon it was stinking hot close to the end of the full and alot of people where hitting the med tents.

Be careful out there everyone!!!!

I'll be coming from up north where it is going to be -10 tonight with a -30 degree wind chill. If we get up to 84 on Saturday, that'll be almost a 100 degree increase in temps. It'll feel good after the race, but I guess that means to take it slower and enjoy that beer and pretzel in Germany! :thumbsup2

Wow. Forgot to check the humidity. For me, that's what makes a run really tough (and I like running in warmer weather).

The forecast keeps moving around, but we're looking at possible 80-90% humidity for Sat and Sun mornings.

Ran the Terror 10 Miler in '12 and that was unbelievable.

If the humidity is that high, I'm hoping for rain during the race even if that dampens the fun at the parks later.

Just a reminder that if the weather turns out H&H, make sure to check some dry clothing, wipes, powder and body smells good stuff. :hyper:

I'm not gonna lie.. I'm freaking out a bit about the temps. Yes, we had some pretty warm temps earlier this year in Ohio.. But nothing close in the last few months. Plus I am planning on doing the finish upright plan and have been planning on around 14-15mm pace, probably closer to 1430-15 mm.. So with the almost for sure slower pace with the hot weather, just getting nervous as heck. Yes, I know I've done the training etc, but still freaking out.
