We have used RAC many times but not DME. I am used to going to the RAC desk on check-out day to get my boarding pass and check in my luggage. Today I am checking out of SSR. This morning I found my boarding pass and luggage tag hanging on my door. Fabulous! Has this always worked like this with DME or is it something new?
Next trip we will be a big group. Some will ride DME to the resort so we can put luggage on DME, the rest will be in rental cars. Do we all have to ride the DME bus in order to have the boarding passes/tags delivered to our room or maybe I can go to the RAC desk ahead of time and give flight info so we can have them delivered? For our big trip we will be at BWV, if that makes a difference.

I've read you can't always expect it to happen, depending on the time of your flight etc., but twice now at Pop Century I have had our boarding passes printed and delivered to us with our DME information. It is a wonderful perk because you can skip the check-in counter at MCO.

I'm surprised you got your luggage tag. It was my understanding you need to show a photo ID to check luggage. Also, how would the airline know whether your luggage is over weight?

Regarding your future trip, I believe RAC is separate from DME. So you can use RAC but not DME, DME but not RAC, neither, or both and all is "allowed".

Just call the DME office from your room as early as possible in your trip, but at least two days before departure, and yes, you should get all your return documents delivered to your room.

But I'm surprised too, that they gave you any type of luggage tags.

The luggage tags might not be the "final" ones; you still have to go to the RAC desk to actually check bags, and I can't remember if the bags get re-tagged there or not.

I vaguely recall being given something to put on the bag at the end of my BWV stay this past Feb/Mar, but can't remember if it was a "real" luggage tag, or something similar to the yellow ME tags.

What airline are you flying out on? I have used RAC for almost every single one of my return flights for the past 12 trips...have yet to get anything the day before. And, I have flown SW on occasion.
So, it's not something that happens every time. I can't figure out the why's or wherefor's of this one.

Okay. When I checked out the bellman brought my bag to RAC. Then I showed ID and Delta credit card for fee-free luggage check and gave a tip. This makes more sense to me. It was certainly a lot easier and quicker than doing the whole process at RAC in the morning. I also asked whether I could get the boarding passes and tags delivered if I am not using DME and was told I could do so through concierge. I will be anxious to see if this is true. We will have 21 people and bags and it would be a lot less stressful for us and RAC if the process were speeded up by having stuff delivered the night before checkout.

We've gotten those at our room door every trip for the past 4 or 5 trips. The tags are RAC luggage tags, not airline luggage tags. They swap them for airline luggage tags at RAC. We don't bother putting the RAC tags on our bags. We fly SWA if that makes any difference.

I did not see them swap tags but they probably did it after I walked away. I did get a bag claim check to keep until I get to my home airport. I also noticed the bag claim number printed on my boarding pass that was hanging on my door.
