Rabbit, Hatter & Chessie Go Rogue in Christmasland.New5/11 Meet my Nemesis, Splash M.

Love the Stitch present photo with David, that's a lot of fun!

I like Y&Y. We went there for the first time this summer, for some unknown reason my family vetoed the menu in the past but picked it 11th hour over Sanaa this time.

The E's feel VERY strongly that the green beans should be offered instead of fries, everywhere. Those things are wicked good!

We all liked our meals (and I don't think anyone got the LoMein but I'd have to look...won't get to that update for a bit still). A B+ sounds about right.

Ah, the Dawa bar. LOVE that place. Missed it on the last 2 trips which well, is just wrong. Love the African Margarita (Lost on Safari is too sweet for me). I'd give it a :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am playing catch-up yet again. :crazy2:

I am with you...there is just something about the "unloved" Animal Kingdom that pulls me in. It really is my third favorite park and could some day overtake Epcot in my heart.

I won't do EE anymore, but everything else there is a go for me.

I LOVE the picture of the three of you with Santa Goofy. :thumbsup2

And Yak & Yeti--I'm not sure why it gets such bad reviews sometimes. We ate there in 2008 and absolutely loved it. We've not been back since and I really need to rectify that (maybe on our December trip).

What great photopass pictures; love the one of your son with Stitch (even though I don't like Stitch :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

Sorry your computer is being cranky.

I have to DIS every day. And Facebook. I love Facebook. Pinterest just sometimes.

Susan

I wonder why they keep those chairs at the Boardwalk’s fireplace if so many people get creeped out by them. But I guess any press is good press, right? What, no swimming in December for ya? I must admit that when Bean and I swam I was happy we only stayed in as long as we did.

It is odd about the July thing as you would think that Oregon would be cooler, and that is kind of the case in the north. But where we live it gets into the 105-110 degree range for weeks at a time in July/August. We just don’t have to deal with all of that humidity coupled with it. Try out Texas sometime in August; it is the worst combo of it – even worse than Jersey or the south – lol.

It sounds like we have the same opinion about Fantasmic! maybe someday they’ll build a more cohesive production.

Love the squinty eyes and well-grasped coffee in front of the AK sign. Go Eric with his scheming for getting those EE FPs! We lucked out with Roxy using the ECV, we would just send her roaring to the attraction in question while we sat back and enjoyed the park.

I hope you got that Canon S110 …or for around $100 more you can get the Rebel T3 with an 18-55mm lens. It is bulkier but it has so many more options including adding more lenses and the pictures (and videos) it takes are amazing ;)

Starting your day on Kali??? You are a brave soul. Great shots of all of you on the ride – love the BBQ chicken quip, what are they serving?? Sorry you got the worst of the water, but you still got off easier than me and my girls did on our first Universal day :scared:

Nice shots on the Pangani Forest Trails. We skipped the walk this time due to both girls being sick but did walk them on our April trip. Those bats are HUGE aren’t they? Cute pic of the sleeping tiger.

I agree on no Avatar Land, just doesn’t seem right. Fun shots at the EE area, glad you survived. I laughed out loud when you called the gift shop the dump shop!!!

Great shot with Santa Goofy, although I think David was already thinking about Primeval Whirl. I actually agree with Eric on spinning rides. I took one for the team and rode it with Bean when we came back to AK for our daddy/daughter day but I haven’t been on the teacups since 1976!

David did look pretty nervous in the line for Dinosaur. Glad he came off liking it :goodvibes

As for your posting poll I tend to try and post two to three times a week at a minimum. But as you may have seen I’ve gone a bit posting crazy of late. Part of that for me is driven by me wanting to get the story finished so I can show her all of the pictures from the trip. She really wants to see them all despite me being past the 1,500 pic mark with 2 ½ days worth of pics to go.

Keeping up on other people’s TRs is where I’m really failing right now. I need to do what you are doing and commit to a half hour to an hour a day to keep caught up on the dozen or so TRs I am following. And I’m usually really active on FB but have pretty much dropped off the map there of late. I seem to be only able to keep one online social outlet functional at a time and right now the DISBoards are it.

Back to your TR – love the pic you captured of the boats near the bridge – much better than mine. Love the colors and the reflection on the water. I love your thoughts on the Theming of Yak & Yeti. We have had their food on the TS side but have not made ADRs for there yet. Your comments and pictures have convinced me to make the time on our next trip.

Thank you also on the info on the Dawa bar, I had never noticed it at all. Looks like some good stuff to make all of that walking much more bearable :thumbsup2

Great shot of David holding the Stitch present on the way out!

Oh no... this da*n computer is acting up again... it's been to the Genius Bar twice this week... I HAVE to eek at least another 6 mos-hopefully a year out of her... or are computers hims?... Please be good computer so mommy doesn't have to...:badpc: I'm going to post this update before I do responses cause I can do them from my phone but I cannot do the update from the phone...fingers crossed...

Ugh - sorry your computer is still not fixed. That's so frustrating. I hope you aren't forced to buy a new one considering they aren't cheap.

Wok Fried Green Beans

100_0893.jpg

The Wok Fried Green Beans are simply really tasty... nice texture, lightly breaded, like a bit healthier equally addictive French Fries... definitely worth a try...

I love these! Heaven on a plate. Definitely worth a try for sure.

(...Which actually reminded me that we had a group of ladies come in and were seated at the table next to us... mixed age group... possibly moms and daughters... I always try to subtly or perhaps not so subtly check out what other people order to see how it looks... and every one of the 8 of them had ordered lo mien...:confused3 Seriously... 8 orders... Where's the fun in that? Didn't any of them want to share? )

That is so lame. :faint:

The tuna was perfectly seared... which means rare and cooked on the outside... which not everyone likes... I do...(I also like sushi though) and it was a really nice light alternative

Yum! I had the ahi tuna once there - in the salad - and I did not like it. Too mushy. I/m sure it was just a fluke.

I had never even noticed this place before until I began reading about it on other Disers trip reports who pay extra attention to where liquid libations can be obtained...

(I won't be naming names... YOU know who you are...)

:lmao: Not me! I plead the 5th! :lmao:

I loved mine...

I have been wanting to try one of those so thanks for the endorsement.

What an adorable magic shot!

Y&Y green beans are the BEST...now you have me plotting a day trip to AK (like I need an excuse)!

I haven't been to the Dawa Bar, but I'm always looking for a bastion of grown up happiness (my new favorite quote, BTW). I'll definitely be checking it out!

The photo with Stitch is too cute...extra magic shots are so much fun!

I TRY to check in daily for a few minutes, and check out other people's TR's, but lately, that's been becoming every few days. As for updating my own TR, well you know I've been a BIG slacker on that as of late too. I try to post there as often as possible though (and when it gets to be over a week between updates, I try to post several at once).

Your meal at Y&Y looks really good! We've never been there, but the atmosphere and food both look great!

Oooo Dawa Bar! I still haven't been there, but that's so awesome that one of the drinks had sugar cane in it! I bet DF would LOVE that!

Trying to get caught up today!

I agree, I would like another land at AK but NO Avatar. It doesn't excite me at all. I really like AK but we just never give it enough time. There is still so much we haven't done there that I would like to do.

Yak and Yeti looks yummy. We love that type of food but have yet to eat there. :confused3

Can't wait to hear about Raglan Road. :surfweb:

To answer your Dis question -- I tend to check in daily, and depending on my mood, I may or may not post updates to my TR &/or DR. I also try and get caught up on my subscriptions every other day or so. I check FB & Twitter multiple times a day, and I do not use Pinterest.

sounds like a good plan... don't get started on Pinterest... I've found it completely addictive...:confused3

Ok, now your update -- LOVE Y&Y!!! I think those wontons are sheer heaven on a plate!

They really are... One of the best and most unique dessert at Disney...

I have never gotton a drink from Dawa, but DH got an African beer from there one time.

Such a great place to sit and take a break for a half hour...:goodvibes

Love the Stitch present photo with David, that's a lot of fun!

I thought is was kinda cute...:goodvibes

I like Y&Y. We went there for the first time this summer, for some unknown reason my family vetoed the menu in the past but picked it 11th hour over Sanaa this time.

Oh wow... I Like Yak & Yeti but I LOVE Sanaa

The E's feel VERY strongly that the green beans should be offered instead of fries, everywhere. Those things are wicked good!

They seriously are...

We all liked our meals (and I don't think anyone got the LoMein but I'd have to look...won't get to that update for a bit still). A B+ sounds about right.

I just thought it interesting that EVERYONE got the LoMein...I love to share and I'd have wanted to try some of everyone's different dishes...I thought everyone did that... guess not...:lmao:

Ah, the Dawa bar. LOVE that place. Missed it on the last 2 trips which well, is just wrong. Love the African Margarita (Lost on Safari is too sweet for me). I'd give it a :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Don't you think it's great to have a go to bar in each park...:lmao:... except the MK of course...

I am playing catch-up yet again. :crazy2:

I am with you...there is just something about the "unloved" Animal Kingdom that pulls me in. It really is my third favorite park and could some day overtake Epcot in my heart.

I know...it's really sad to me...:sad2: I want the AK to get some more love...

I won't do EE anymore, but everything else there is a go for me.

I LOVE the picture of the three of you with Santa Goofy. :thumbsup2

Goofy Santa is a lot of fun...:goodvibes

And Yak & Yeti--I'm not sure why it gets such bad reviews sometimes. We ate there in 2008 and absolutely loved it. We've not been back since and I really need to rectify that (maybe on our December trip).

I can't figure out why it gets bad reviews either... the couple of times we've been there we've had good experiences... Maybe because it's kind of different? But I don't think it is that different...:confused3

What great photopass pictures; love the one of your son with Stitch (even though I don't like Stitch :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

Owww... but Kathy, Stitch likes coffee too... like you...;)

Sorry your computer is being cranky.

I have to DIS every day. And Facebook. I love Facebook. Pinterest just sometimes.

Susan

It's all so addictive ... but it takes up a lot of time too which it why I'm trying to nail down a tentative schedule... & trying hard to not murder my computer in an angry fit...:sad2::badpc:

Nice update!!! I'm like everyone else here and just adore David's picture with Stitch in the present! We have never been to Y & Y --- we are all pretty fussy eaters and I don't think any of their food would appeal to us. We are just simple folk, I guess! :lmao: I've never seen the chairs at the Boardwalk in person, but I think they are cute --- creepy, but cute! As for Dis'ing, I do go on everyday although I may not take the time to comment or update my own ptr. I'm lazy like that! Most of the time it's at break at work as when I get home there's ALWAYS something else that needs doing. :laundy:

I wonder why they keep those chairs at the Boardwalk’s fireplace if so many people get creeped out by them. But I guess any press is good press, right? What, no swimming in December for ya? I must admit that when Bean and I swam I was happy we only stayed in as long as we did.

My guess is that some decorator liked them... cute size and shape and whimsical but didn't pay attention to the creepy expressions...:confused3 HA... You are from the Pacific Northwest... so you are probably used to colder water... (I know the water from San Francisco to at least Monterey is pretty nippy... by Santa Barbara it seems to warm up...Not a big fan of zee cold water... David has been swimming on a team so he's probably the hardiest in terms of water temps...

Seriously... 105-110? but then we get into the high 90s WITH Humidity... it's like a swamp... Em met a girl from Berkley in a program she was in several years ago and this poor girl was dying from our combo of heat humidity and mosquitos... (actually I think the reason the Founding Fathers probably finally agreed to sign the Declaration is because they were desperate to avoid a full Philadelphia summer...

It sounds like we have the same opinion about Fantasmic! maybe someday they’ll build a more cohesive production.

Yes... It's not bad... it's just not really Disney's best...

Love the squinty eyes and well-grasped coffee in front of the AK sign. Go Eric with his scheming for getting those EE FPs! We lucked out with Roxy using the ECV, we would just send her roaring to the attraction in question while we sat back and enjoyed the park.

LOL... EVC as a weapon/resource of procuring FPs... I love it...:thumbsup2

I hope you got that Canon S110 …or for around $100 more you can get the Rebel T3 with an 18-55mm lens. It is bulkier but it has so many more options including adding more lenses and the pictures (and videos) it takes are amazing ;)

I did get the Canon and if I manage to get its extra features down... maybe I'll eventually move up...;)

Starting your day on Kali??? You are a brave soul. Great shots of all of you on the ride – love the BBQ chicken quip, what are they serving?? Sorry you got the worst of the water, but you still got off easier than me and my girls did on our first Universal day :scared:

Well in theory... if it had been warmer starting on Kali would have made sense...You never really expect to get wet and yes you really got zonked at Universal... I thinking that might actually feel kind of refreshing in July... David I think has a dramatic streak... their food is conservative & fairly healthy...:rolleyes1... (I did check on it after he made that comment... funny though it may have been... it did raise some questions...

Nice shots on the Pangani Forest Trails. We skipped the walk this time due to both girls being sick but did walk them on our April trip. Those bats are HUGE aren’t they? Cute pic of the sleeping tiger.

LOVE that trail... the bats are enormous and pretty cool and the Tigers are really incredible animals...

I agree on no Avatar Land, just doesn’t seem right. Fun shots at the EE area, glad you survived. I laughed out loud when you called the gift shop the dump shop!!!

Oh I know I'd so love another land... another continent maybe... Australia or something else but surely not Avatar Land... Heaven help us all...:crazy2:

Great shot with Santa Goofy, although I think David was already thinking about Primeval Whirl. I actually agree with Eric on spinning rides. I took one for the team and rode it with Bean when we came back to AK for our daddy/daughter day but I haven’t been on the teacups since 1976!

I'm sure he was... he's not too patient with the photos after a certain point... It seems like a lot of guys have spinning issues... no probs with the coasters... but the spinning...not so much...

David did look pretty nervous in the line for Dinosaur. Glad he came off liking it :goodvibes

He was a trooper ... and I know his limits ...I only nudged a little ...(it kind of freaks me out when I see parents dragging crying/really upset kids on rides...:sad2:) Now he can't wait to do it again...:thumbsup2

Yes... and I think when you get on a writing mojo it's easier to keep it going at that pace... it can actually be harder to update when you've waited a bit... I think ideally about 3x every two weeks would be about right for me...

Yes... it's really hard to balance all of the different social media outlets at one time... and writing a TR really takes some time and thought... and photo management...

Oh do try the TS at Yak and Yeti at least once and see what you think of it...

Thank you also on the info on the Dawa bar, I had never noticed it at all. Looks like some good stuff to make all of that walking much more bearable :thumbsup2

Yes... great people watching and good drinks... I imagine you'd need to use caution especially in the summer...

Great shot of David holding the Stitch present on the way out!

:goodvibes a little cheesy but pretty cute I thought...

Ugh - sorry your computer is still not fixed. That's so frustrating. I hope you aren't forced to buy a new one considering they aren't cheap.

From your mouth to God's ears... I'd really like to get another year out...

I love these! Heaven on a plate. Definitely worth a try for sure.

They really are... and they are just a bit healthier than fries...;)

That is so lame. :faint:

I thought so... I'm not saying you can't have lo mein... but my goodness... break out... try something different... you never know... you might actually like it... order 4 of them... and then try four other things...:confused3

Yum! I had the ahi tuna once there - in the salad - and I did not like it. Too mushy. I/m sure it was just a fluke.

:scared: Um yeah... mushy fish not good... but this tuna app was really nicely done...:thumbsup2

:lmao: Not me! I plead the 5th! :lmao:

Hmmm... now why would you think I meant you Mary Ellen...:rotfl2:

I have been wanting to try one of those so thanks for the endorsement.

It was SO GOOD...

What an adorable magic shot!

Yeah... David looks really into it... (which is funny cause he had no idea what would be there...;)

Y&Y green beans are the BEST...now you have me plotting a day trip to AK (like I need an excuse)!

They really are good...:thumbsup2 ok if need an excuse...;) that's as good as any...

I haven't been to the Dawa Bar, but I'm always looking for a bastion of grown up happiness (my new favorite quote, BTW). I'll definitely be checking it out!

I love the location and the idea that it's there "hidden" in plain site... seriously awesome people watching and yes liquid libations and def a bastion of grown up happiness...:thumbsup2

The photo with Stitch is too cute...extra magic shots are so much fun!

Especially when you're not quite sure what's going to show up...:goodvibes

I TRY to check in daily for a few minutes, and check out other people's TR's, but lately, that's been becoming every few days. As for updating my own TR, well you know I've been a BIG slacker on that as of late too. I try to post there as often as possible though (and when it gets to be over a week between updates, I try to post several at once).

Don't you just feel too like everyone kind of gets slower in the winter...;) Cause that's what I'm going with for right now... although I'm trying to catch up...

Your meal at Y&Y looks really good! We've never been there, but the atmosphere and food both look great!

Oh give it a go... you're sure to find something that you like... and you and Wingnut can pretend you're the young Indy and Marion...;)

Oooo Dawa Bar! I still haven't been there, but that's so awesome that one of the drinks had sugar cane in it! I bet DF would LOVE that!

You have to go there too...:goodvibes I just love when you write DF now instead of DB and I can't wait till the day I get to see you write DH...:goodvibes

Trying to get caught up today!

I agree, I would like another land at AK but NO Avatar. It doesn't excite me at all. Me either... NOT AT ALL... I really like AK but we just never give it enough time. There is still so much we haven't done there that I would like to do. I kind of think that most people fall in that category... I know the first time I really really paid attention to it was when we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge... I totally got into the whole theming of the resort and that kind of extended into the park...

Yak and Yeti looks yummy. We love that type of food but have yet to eat there. :confused3

You have to go... you will find something you like...

Can't wait to hear about Raglan Road. :surfweb:

Def by the end of the weekend... so I can finish this day and move onto MK day...:goodvibes

Most of the time it's at break at work as when I get home there's ALWAYS something else that needs doing. :laundy:

You might be surprised by Yak and Yeti... they have some more basic stuff there... and the theming is really pretty cool...

The picture of David makes me smile...

Have you ever been in the Boardwalk's lobby? Check it out sometime... really lovely, whimsical place... it's right near the Boardwalk Bakery and definitely worth a look...(5-10 minute walk from the International Gateway at Epcot) then you can tell me whether you still think the chairs are cute in person...:lmao:

Yes... It's not too hard to read TRs on a phone... a little harder to respond and I think you'd have to be Houdini to do an update on a phone... Hmmm...now I'm wondering if that's even possible...:confused3

I just tried Yak & Yeti for the first time last year! I loved it, and I'm SUPER picky hehehe. I also loved it for the atmosphere and decor, really awesome in there.
The Dawa bar looks awesome! :thumbsup2

Hi! :wave2:

I am all caught up again! :)

I would love to eat at Y&Y but the picky members of my clan would hate it, so I do not go. Someday, I will eat there. In the mean time I will live through your meal there.

David is just a cutie! I also love his cheesy smile with Stitch!

We are going to try to get DS on EE this trip. He has a slight fear of roller coaster but DH feels he will like it because it doesn't go upside down. He just needs to give it a try and he will love it. We will see what happens.

Loved your updates, looking forward to more as long as the compooper will work!

:goodvibes

Wow, the Yak & Yeti meal looked delicious! I don’t think I have anywhere to squeeze in that meal for our upcoming trip, though! Oh well, that just means I’ll have to plan another trip :thumbsup2 The Ahi Tuna looked SO GOOD!!! I was cracking up at your Sugar Cane Mojito pictures! It must have been a good drink! I’ve seen it on other TRs, too, and I must have one! Your PhotoPass pictures were really cute, too!

Can I just say at this moment how much I HATE photobucket? I just went in there to get photos for a long overdue update only to find that I HAVE to use the new system... What happened to March 18th? I don't want to deal with that yet.... Grrrrrrgh....:headache:

I just tried Yak & Yeti for the first time last year! I loved it, and I'm SUPER picky hehehe. I also loved it for the atmosphere and decor, really awesome in there.
The Dawa bar looks awesome! :thumbsup2

It really is good... and there are lots of choices... You don't have to be terrifically adventuresome...:goodvibes It is cool in there too... Ahhh...Dawa... seek it out sometime...;)

Hi! :wave2:

I am all caught up again! :)

I would love to eat at Y&Y but the picky members of my clan would hate it, so I do not go. Someday, I will eat there. In the mean time I will live through your meal there.

Well I'm glad to be of service-lol- but you might be surprised... there are plainer things...;)

David is just a cutie! I also love his cheesy smile with Stitch!

He is really a sweetheart... he makes me laugh at least 5 times a day...:goodvibes and yes when he knows his picture is being taken... the cheese factor of his smile is off the charts...

We are going to try to get DS on EE this trip. He has a slight fear of roller coaster but DH feels he will like it because it doesn't go upside down. He just needs to give it a try and he will love it. We will see what happens.

Hmm EE is really fun, it is a little intense but those parts aren't the whole ride... See if you can get him to go at least once... if he doesn't like it... it's done and if he does... he'll be thrilled...:goodvibes

Loved your updates, looking forward to more as long as the compooper will work!

Love it... the compooper is behaving tonight but photobucket is being a real treat...:headache:

:goodvibes

OH yes the Ahi tuna was really good...:thumbsup2 hmmm... trying to remember what you have planned for your AK day...;) Yes that was a pretty good drink... I wouldn't mind another one of those...Thanks about the PP pics ... David is a little cheeseball...

Yeah there's that moment right before the water hits and you just know...;) It was fun though and I do wish it was longer... Did you do Grizzly River Rapids at CA? (can't remember if you did) but that's def a bit longer...

No, we didn't. It was closed for refurb (January). Next trip! ::yes::

I have an informal survey for all of you...

What do you feel works the best for you as a Dis er... Dis ing in larger chunks on a couple of days a week, or everyday a little bit or something else..?

I feel that for me it seems better to keep a consistent rhythm- possibly update at least once or twice a week when I'm writing a TR and then reading my subscriptions everyday (almost) for like a half + hour or so...

(Also have recently gotten a bit into Facebook and Pinterest... so trying to balance...:rolleyes1

Also pretty sure I may have a bit of ADD... so really trying to get my routines all organized and structured...

Any and all input/advice Welcome...

I SO UNDERSTAND THIS! It's my constant battle. Juggling all the little "extras" I do on the computer. The only thing that works for me is dedicating a bit of time each day to stay up to date. When I fall behind I generally catch all up by DISing for 1 hour per day, then update my own TR. After I am caught up, I only need to dedicate 30 minutes each day really to stay on top of it all, maybe a tad more for my own update.

We have never had a drink at the Dawa Bar, but have sat there eating a breakfast from the coffee shop. It's a great little spot for people watching, isn't it? I've heard the Lost on Safari is very good too!

What a cute picture!

Yak and Yeti is the lone AK restaurant we have not eaten at. I want to try to get a walk-up on the spring break trip, but I wish I knew if they will substitute lo mein noodles for the rice if I get one of the chicken dishes. Surely they will, if maybe for a little additional cost. The green beans intrigue me, and the cream cheese wontons will be a must, if we get in.

Totally agree with you about Photobucket! It is so horrible. Why change a good thing? What was wrong with the old setup? And Disney too?? Why all the change??

Yum! That Sugar Cane Mojito was so yummy. I had one (or two) in July and plan to make them a new tradition! :drinking1
