Rabbit, Hatter & Chessie Go Rogue in Christmasland.New5/11 Meet my Nemesis, Splash M.

Tigers, Yetis and Dinosaurs...

So feeling dampish, I headed over to the Pangani Forest Trails with my boys... (I love this trail plus we still had about a half hour till our EE window opened...)

100_0850.jpg

Everyone hits Everest put I wonder how many people actually go on this trail... it is peaceful and beautiful and I love seeing the bats... yes even the bats but especially the tigers...

David's reaction to the "supposed" local bat killings...

IMG_0919.jpg

On to the tigers... while egging on some cheesy photos...

100_0860.jpg

Having gone through and yet still being dampish in the derriere area... it was simply time for our meeting with the Yeti... I love the theming of this ride... I keep saying that all through this park...but I honestly do... I hate picking favorites... and the Magic Kingdom will always be my sentimental, pixie dust favorite, but there is something about this underdog park that I love... If it had just one more land... and if I had my choice it would NOT be Avatarland...

So we went to see the Yeti... and the Mountain he guards...

I WANT TO LIVE...

Mission Accomplished and alive... although I'm not sure what the poor soul who got my slightly damp seat must have thought... we entered the dump shop...

We have one of these little cuties at home...

IMG_0938.jpg

We were off to Dinoland...

and along the way... guess who we saw???

IMG_0943.jpg

Great theming on these trees in Dinoland...

IMG_0945.jpg

David and I wanted to go on Primeval Whirl... Eric came but he wasn't that happy... he's not really a spinner... (like no tea cups...) but David and I are and we were still silly from earlier...

IMG_0948.jpg

IMG_0949.jpg

That's Eric's fake hahah this is going to be so much fun... (& btw honey I'm going get you back for making me spin...) HA HA...

David and I were all about this though... I like to spin and I love watching David... he gets totally hysterical...

100_0869.jpg

100_0875.jpg

100_0877.jpg

Now we had just about a half hour till our lunch ressies for Yak & Yeti... so we thought we check out the wait for the big dino... DINOSAUR... David was feeling a little nervous about this...

100_0880.jpg

Ironically, while he'll ride any coaster, some of the darker themed rides... like Haunted Mansion back a couple of years ago used to scare him... and we had taken him on this 2-3 years ago and he remembered it being really creepy... but we convinced him to give it another go... and it was...

100_0881.jpg

100_0883.jpg

And HE LIKED it... ok he was probably really happy to have gotten it over but afterwards he actually wanted to do it again... (we just didn't have time this day...)

So it was all good...

& it was time for lunch...

Oh, I just HATE Dinosaur....I've tried it three times now and I just don't want to do it again. Even though I know it is fake and I know when the big guy is coming for me...I just can't do it :scared1: But I do like the "bat trail". I missed it in February, but we made sure to include it on my July trip and now it will be a must-do for us.

We always forget about the Maharajah Jungle Trek - it looks so pretty though!

Can't say that I'm a fan of Dinosaur - too bumpy for me!

I love the Jungle Trek, so relaxing. And the theming in EE is really amazingly fantastic!
I dislike Primeval Whirl haha. It's not the spinning as much as the jarring stops!
Santa Goofy! Adorable!!

My kids and I have never been on that trail, so it is on our list of must-do’s this year. I’m glad David enjoyed Dinosaur!

I love your family pictures on the trail and with Santa Goofy! I'm with your DH on the spinning thing lol I know what you mean about your son and the darker themed rides - I have a 14 year old brother, and while he is obviously fine now, there was a while when he never made an appearance in a Dinosaur photo because he was always hiding :rotfl:

Hey Dis buddies,

I hope that you all had a marvelous Valentine's Day... regardless of what kind/s of love you were celebrating ...Romantic, Maternal, Friendship, etc...

I just got my PC back from the Computer Hospital-better known as the Apple Store... where it languished for several days...

I'm going to do responses and catch up on ALL of my subscriptions and then I plan to do an update on Yak & Yeti & the Dawali (where have you been all my life) Bar and the rest of AK before our night at DTD and Raglan Road...

but before I get to that...

I have an informal survey for all of you...

What do you feel works the best for you as a Dis er... Dis ing in larger chunks on a couple of days a week, or everyday a little bit or something else..?

I feel that for me it seems better to keep a consistent rhythm- possibly update at least once or twice a week when I'm writing a TR and then reading my subscriptions everyday (almost) for like a half + hour or so...

(Also have recently gotten a bit into Facebook and Pinterest... so trying to balance...:rolleyes1

Also pretty sure I may have a bit of ADD... so really trying to get my routines all organized and structured...

Any and all input/advice Welcome...

lol... it is a little creepy... I admit that the first couple times I closed my eyes quite a bit... but it's really grown on me... you never know... It might grow on you as well...

Awesome! Love the Santa Goofy - great photo! :)

Thanks... If Ems had been in it, I might have used it as our Holiday Card...:)

We always forget about the Maharajah Jungle Trek - it looks so pretty though!

Oh Sara, you have to go with Wingnut... It could really be quite romantic for a couple...

Can't say that I'm a fan of Dinosaur - too bumpy for me!

It is bumpy but I do kind of like it now... not my absolute favorite... but I like it...

I love the Jungle Trek, so relaxing. And the theming in EE is really amazingly fantastic!
I dislike Primeval Whirl haha. It's not the spinning as much as the jarring stops!
Santa Goofy! Adorable!!

I really, really love all of the theming in Asia- I love Africa too but the Queuing for Kali and Everest just push it over the top...

yes it is jarring but I'm usually laughing between David's hysterical laughing and Eric grimacing so I don't notice the stops as much..:)

Goofy was awesome in his Santa costume...

:rotfl: Thank goodness you said that prayer. I am sure it contributed to your survival. :rotfl:

Yes I might not have made it without the prayer...:rotfl2:

You guys got a lot done before lunch. Nice! I', glad you convinced David to go on Dinosaur and that he loved it. :thumbsup2

:scratchin Actually we were pretty productive... I'm glad he gave it a go ... a great lesson in trying something... it's my food rule too... give it a go... and if you really don't like it...you don't have to eat it... but you might be surprised...:goodvibes

My kids and I have never been on that trail, so it is on our list of must-do’s this year. I’m glad David enjoyed Dinosaur!

Oh yes Erin-it's stunning... must do it...::yes:: I'm glad he liked it too cause it just adds to Mom's "rightness" quota...;)

Thanks... Yes it's interesting because some of Disney's rides do have a dark psychological side... starting with Snow White (RIP) and then Haunted Mansion & TOT... sometimes it's not the movement of the rides but the theming that scares some kids... (bigger kids too ;)

I love the trails at AK, especially the tigers! I don’t think I’ve ever seen them super crowded, which is nice.

I’m a big fan of cheesy photos...yours are great!

Don’t get me started on Avatarland. Worst. Idea. Ever.

LOL…I’m sure the prayer before boarding EE is what saved you from the Yeti!

Great photo with Santa Goofy…he’s so cute!

I’m with you on the whirly twirly rides…I LOVE to spin…definitely a tea cups kinda girl. Most of my family calls this “Primeval Hurl”…not very original but still funny.

Yay David! Dinosaur is fun…it’s a ride and a chiropractic back adjustment in one!

I still can't beleive that you went on Kali in weather that has you wearing jeans!! Weren't you freezing to death once you were wet?

I love the Ak trails, I think they are one of the best features of that park. When Katharina and I went on the Wild by Design tour they took us through both trails and explained so much of the backstory that I now have an even bigger appreciation for them. I wish they would add a new continent with a new trail.

As to your question: I prefer longer updates that get the story moving. While it is nice ot have regular updates, I always feel a bit cheated if an update only includes just one attraction. When I was writing my TR I would actually write it in larger chunks in Word. Often spent a whole evening on that. But I also needed to email it to Katharina for her to put in comments. On many occasions I would end up with having written so much that I did not post everything at once, but split it up in chapters that made sense to me.

But don't worry too much about what we prefer, find a posting schedule that works for you!! :goodvibes

Glad your computer is fixed! I have found the apple store to be pretty reliable at fixing macs, so hopefully no more problems.

:thumbsup2

I know like the Rabbit I am running late, but I have just finished reading all the updates and am enjoying all the wonderful pictures.

Did you get your new Canon S100? I have the Canon S95 and love it.

I'm all caught up! Oh EE with a wet behind doesn't sound exactly pleasant but kudos to you for going anyway! It's funny, I finally went on Primeval Whirl for the first time this summer and I didn't think iy was all that spinny. Then again maybe I'd built it up in my mind after readying so many people calling it Primeval Hurl. LOL!

You guys did get a lot done and I love the Santa goofy pics!

I don't know what works best for me, I swear I seem to go in spurts.
One thing that has become a big problem is I'll read on my phone but it's
hard to post replies as it's wants me to quote something most of the time. In a way it's turning me into a lurker which is really frustrating. I do read everyday but not necessarily post as a result.

Update wise 1-2x a week is best for me on both sides otherwise it can be impossible for me to keep up. Either on my own TR's or my subs

Oh no... this da*n computer is acting up again... it's been to the Genius Bar twice this week... I HAVE to eek at least another 6 mos-hopefully a year out of her... or are computers hims?... Please be good computer so mommy doesn't have to...:badpc: I'm going to post this update before I do responses cause I can do them from my phone but I cannot do the update from the phone...fingers crossed...

Yak & Yeti Yummies & Dawa Bar- Where have you been all my life?

So having successfully accomplished our journey on Dinosaur... it was time for lunch...

Along the way we passed this...

100_0885.jpg

...which I believe was part of a boat ride that didn't manifest?... anyway it's picturesque...

Time for

IMG_0971.jpg

Yak & Yeti...

IMG_0970.jpg

David is like "yeah take the picture... I want to eat already mom"...

Ok... Confession... I really like this place... Yes, we've had good experience with the food... the green beans, the wonton dessert but the real reason...

IMG_0984.jpg

IMG_0982.jpg

IMG_0981.jpg

is the super cool theming... (again I've made up a story in my head...) I like thinking of this as some sort of place that Indy and Marion would have stopped to eat and probably drink... on their adventures (and just for the record... I refuse to acknowledge the Kate Capshaw character (ie Mrs Steven Spielberg) in the Second Film... there are things I like about that film but her character was not one of them... OMG... the constant whining...) ... anyhow I digress...

the cool entry/waiting area...

100_0888.jpg

Seated quickly, we had a really pleasant and very accomodating server from Ohio... I wish I remembered his name but he was really nice and kept the ice tea coming...

Food time...

We sort of all shared although David mostly ate his Dim Sum Basket...

Seared Ahi Tuna Appetizer

100_0894.jpg

Dim Sum Basket

100_0891.jpg

Wok Fried Green Beans

100_0893.jpg

Shaoxing steak and shrimp...jasmine rice, stir fried veggies and plum dipping sauce-mostly for Eric... (but he's an awesome sharer... he has to be married to me... it was in our wedding vows...)

100_0890.jpg

(...Which actually reminded me that we had a group of ladies come in and were seated at the table next to us... mixed age group... possibly moms and daughters... I always try to subtly or perhaps not so subtly check out what other people order to see how it looks... and every one of the 8 of them had ordered lo mien...:confused3 Seriously... 8 orders... Where's the fun in that? Didn't any of them want to share? )

Anyhow back to our food...& the verdict

Everything was really well made and tasty...

The tuna was perfectly seared... which means rare and cooked on the outside... which not everyone likes... I do...(I also like sushi though) and it was a really nice light alternative

The Dim Sum Basket was a really good introduction to Dim Sum for someone who hasn't had it... and David really enjoyed it... it has a lot of your standards... and isn't too out there for the non experimental... We've eaten some really good dim sum( and this isn't totally what you'd find... you'd find a lot more "exotic" things too -for lack of a better word)-but if you're curious and think you'd like to try some... this could be a good place...

The Wok Fried Green Beans are simply really tasty... nice texture, lightly breaded, like a bit healthier equally addictive French Fries... definitely worth a try...

The Steak & Shrimp were also really good... steak was tender, shrimp were lightly breaded, the veggies nice...

We were unfortunately too full for the Fried Wontons Dessert... sorry ...no photos of those... but I have had them before and they are pretty yummy...

So overall, I'd give Yak & Yeti a B+... I love the atmosphere... it's a great break from the park, I think the food is actually pretty good if you order well. It might not be a life changing experience but I'd definitely recommend it... (but ... part of that is because if I had the time I'd almost always go over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and eat at Saana or if I wanted CS ... Flame Tree Barbeque...)

But it really is good food and fun and deserves a try...

Now on to something that I really, really loved... and actually did change my life... (well at least on this day...) The Dawa Bar...

I was planning on drinking my dessert...

100_0898.jpg

at the Dawa Bar...

100_0899.jpg

I had never even noticed this place before until I began reading about it on other Disers trip reports who pay extra attention to where liquid libations can be obtained...

(I won't be naming names... YOU know who you are...)

it's kind of a hole in the wall ... well it's actually outside- so a open space under cover... not a hole and very missable... kind of tucked next to the entrance to Tusker House... I think I've always passed it and just thought it was seating for some kind of CS...

Well it's not...

It's a bastion of grown up happiness... a place where you can get a really well made drink... kudos to the bartenders there... and just watch the world walk (run) by... and I have a right in clear sight..) gems that most people ignore to run to their next ride...

IMG_0988.jpg

I got an African Sugar Cane Mojito & Eric got an African Margarita...

IMG_0990.jpg

IMG_0989.jpg

He liked his

IMG_0993.jpg

I loved mine...

IMG_0995.jpg

IMG_0994.jpg

(I love mojitos... and this was perfectly made... I'm not sure what the difference between African rum and Caribbean rum is... but it was really good and there was a piece -stick of sugar cane in it... that just made it... I don't like drinks that are too sweet and the whole lime, mint, rum, little bit of sugar really appeals to me...

Ah ...Dawa Bar... I will be back...

PP on way out of AK...

back to Beach Club for a little R & R before tonight's dinner at Raglan Road and some shopping at DTD...

I love the trails at AK, especially the tigers! I don’t think I’ve ever seen them super crowded, which is nice.

They're awesome... such great details...

I’m a big fan of cheesy photos...yours are great!

Thanks... I aim to please...;)

Don’t get me started on Avatarland. Worst. Idea. Ever.

OMG Absolutely...:crazy2:

LOL…I’m sure the prayer before boarding EE is what saved you from the Yeti!

That's what I'm telling myself...

Great photo with Santa Goofy…he’s so cute!

He really was...

I’m with you on the whirly twirly rides…I LOVE to spin…definitely a tea cups kinda girl. Most of my family calls this “Primeval Hurl”…not very original but still funny.

:rotfl:

Yay David! Dinosaur is fun…it’s a ride and a chiropractic back adjustment in one!

Hey with the price of admission... it's nice to have some added value...:thumbsup2

Dis'n a little every day works best for me!

Yes... assuming my computer is behaving...(as I'm glaring at it... I don't think it care though... I think a little consistently would work the best for me...

I still can't beleive that you went on Kali in weather that has you wearing jeans!! Weren't you freezing to death once you were wet?

It was about 70ish so not so cold more damp and clammy... it was still kind of icky...

I love the Ak trails, I think they are one of the best features of that park. When Katharina and I went on the Wild by Design tour they took us through both trails and explained so much of the backstory that I now have an even bigger appreciation for them. Owww... that tour sounds awesome... and Absolutely yes... I would adore a new continent...

As to your question: I prefer longer updates that get the story moving. While it is nice ot have regular updates, I always feel a bit cheated if an update only includes just one attraction. On many occasions I would end up with having written so much that I did not post everything at once, but split it up in chapters that made sense to me.

Yes... I could see if you wrote it over several nights... and then posted it that that would work out well...

But don't worry too much about what we prefer, find a posting schedule that works for you!! :goodvibes

I know... Thanks...:goodvibes

Glad your computer is fixed! I have found the apple store to be pretty reliable at fixing macs, so hopefully no more problems.

:thumbsup2

They did fix the first problem... but it came back & my screen kept blacking out... so it needed to go back... I think they loosened stuff when they fixed the first issue... They usually do have a pretty good support team...

I know like the Rabbit I am running late, but I have just finished reading all the updates and am enjoying all the wonderful pictures.

Did you get your new Canon S100? I have the Canon S95 and love it.

:welcome: thanks for coming out... & yes I did get the S100... it's actually sitting on my night table with the manual... I have to read... Um I have a habit of jumping in before reading manual... but I'm trying to change that going forward... I am looking forward to using it...:goodvibes

LOL!

I don't think it's bad either but I think that some of us are just better spinners...:rotfl2:

You guys did get a lot done and I love the Santa goofy pics!

Yes I do have to admit the early to rise really does make you productive...

Goofy Santa is a really cute character...:goodvibes

I don't know what works best for me, I swear I seem to go in spurts.

YES... I can read on the phone... but not post ... and then sometimes I get confused which subs I've read and which ones I haven't... cause I like to be able to comment...:rolleyes2

Update wise 1-2x a week is best for me on both sides otherwise it can be impossible for me to keep up. Either on my own TR's or my subs

Yes... I think that sounds about right... that way you keep your momentum going...:thumbsup2

To answer your Dis question -- I tend to check in daily, and depending on my mood, I may or may not post updates to my TR &/or DR. I also try and get caught up on my subscriptions every other day or so. I check FB & Twitter multiple times a day, and I do not use Pinterest.

Ok, now your update -- LOVE Y&Y!!! I think those wontons are sheer heaven on a plate!

I have never gotton a drink from Dawa, but DH got an African beer from there one time.
