Rabbit, Hatter & Chessie Go Rogue in Christmasland.New5/11 Meet my Nemesis, Splash M.

Great updates!

We didnt make it on Kali this time around (well, my oldest DS did -- when the temp outside was about 50 degrees :rolleyes2)

BBQ chicken day at school smell -- I will have to remember that next time we ride :lmao:

I am always the one who gets soaked, while everyone else as a few drops on them - so I feel your pain! lol I will only ride that as the last ride of the day because I always need to go back and change my clothes.

I am slowly catching up after my week off last week due to illness and too busy at work.

I am with you...I love AK...it is truly beautiful. And I don't often understand the lack of love for the park (I prefer it over the Studios). Unforunately, there isn't quite as much to do there as Epcot and MK when 1) I won't do EE; 2) Mark won't do Kali Rapids...he hates getting wet...so it's probably been a good six or seven years since we did it.

I do remember the walk to Kali is much longer than the actual ride itself. Sorry you got so wet...but at least it was warm out. And I will be honest and say I laughed at your picture when you were getting "hit." :)

Haha, ugh, it figures you were the one to get soaked on Kali! I've only done Kali once, a few years ago, and while we didn't get drenched, we got wet enough for me to not want to go back on! It's too bad too, because it's a fun ride, I just don't feel like walking around soaked all day! Unless it's like 100 degrees, then maybe I'd consider it! :rotfl2:

Wow what a wait for Kali! hahaha, I am cringing though just thinking of wet jeans. DH and I avoided Kali when we were there in November (2010) because I couldn't stand the thought of being wet. It's not so bad when it's sweltering hot out!

Well we used this and my iphone but rumor has it that I'm getting a Canon S110 as a Valentine's Day gift- which will be a big step up for me... it's a fairly nice point and shoot with some bangs and whistles...) so that should help with the photos... I really need a better camera... we're going to Rome for a week for spring break... I don't know when/if I'll be back there and I'd really like some decent photos to record the event...but as it will still be me actually taking the photos, I suppose the camera can only do so much... so we'll have to see...;)

Ohhhhh! Nice!! That's a really nice little camera, one of my favourites for sure. They do a beautiful job on auto ;) :thumbsup2

Wow...very future worldish... now the way my caffeine addicted mind works... when I look at that photo... I kind of see it as a large beacon coming up through the floor pointing the way to that Starbucks kiosk below...;)

Wow I hadn't thought of it pointing to the Starbucks in that one. The funnest was some of the comments on the Facebook page for the mall. There were ones asking when it blasts off. They actually used to have something that looked much more normal.

6391438847_27b68d9b32_d.jpg

But decided to go with something different last year.

All I can say is you are VERY brave for getting on Kali first thing in the morning, in December, without a poncho. I absolutely can't stand to get soaked like that. I always put on a poncho, although I've taken grief here on the DIS boards for doing that. :rotfl2: I always wish that ride was just a tad longer.

Love the M-trek (too early to spell it).

Yeah for a new camera!

Fun update!

Hahaha I'm not sure I would have braved Kali first thing in the morning - although we always used to race to Splash Mountain first thing, so I guess it's pretty much the same thing! Agreed, that ride is way too short though! The first time I rode it, I definitely had a "this is it?" moment. :rotfl:

LOL at the squint-into-the-sun photo…I have way too many of those, but usually I’m the snapper, not the snapee!

I am SO with you on the Disney Dash. It’s a necessary evil…one that I’m all too happy to delegate and then reap the rewards!

Rome! It’s on my bucket list…I hope you’ll share photos (taken with your new camera, of course)!

IMHO, AK doesn’t get enough love. It really is eye candy in a different way than the other parks…completely immersive, and, yes, romantic.

Score on the Kali wait time! You poor thing, getting soaked like that, but I guess it’s the risk you take when you board the raft. I seldom make it out unscathed!

This is a great photo! :rotfl:

I love that photo of you about to get drenched. Only because when I look at it, I see someone thinking, "Why me?!" :rotfl: It definitely looks like you got soaked, though, so I hope you were able to dry fairly quickly, since it was December and had to be a little chilly out.

I agree with you on AK, it really is a beautiful park. I think a lot of people dislike AK because there aren't a lot of big name attractions, but I sort of enjoy it due to that. When you plan to go to AK, you know there are several things you want to do, but you also know you can slow your pace down a bit and take time to appreciate your surroundings. :goodvibes

Great Update!

I laughed so hard at this update!

The photo of you getting wet on Kali was hilarious, DH wants me to go on Kali this summer and I hate to get wet in the park even in the summer! That could have been me! very funny!

Then, bbq chicken day smells like that! Haha!

Too Funny!

:goodvibes

Oooo - I am so sorry to hear about your back - that is the worst. Hope you feel better soon! Maybe a hot bath would help? (Ooooh - I just channelled my mum there)

Yes lots and lots of hot baths... extra strength ibuprofen ... and tiger balm... right as rain...

Happy New Year Patricia! (or maybe happy early Chinese New Year? :lmao:) I am finally catching up on your Christmas trip!

Happy New Year! (We actually thought about having Chinese New Year Parties... because it comes at a time when all of the Christmas and New Year's parties are over... :thumbsup2

Looks like you had a great DHS day. We've yet to see Phineas & Ferb so they are pretty high on our "must see" list. Your Family photo with them is great!

We love them ... very cute, fun characters...

Too bad there was a bride interfering with your photography. The Nerve!:lmao: Those chairs are creepy -- we may end up staying at Boardwalk sometime soon and I have avoided mentioning the creepy chairs. The creepy clown pool is bad enough! I will just keep that little tidbit from my family....think of it as a need to know. :stir: They don't need to know till they see 'em!

I know can you believe that bride got in the way of my Dis trip report photo taking... Who does she think she is?...:rotfl2:

Did Tune In have to go cups for your drinks? that would be nice. And was that a glowing Mickey head lid I saw on your hubby's cup?

Yep... glow cubes... extra awesome at night...:thumbsup2 & they did have to go cups...

Someday we will get to see the Osborne Lights, but for now I will just live vicariously through fellow Dis'ers. It looks awesome in a literal way.

It really is a very special experience...:goodvibes

I didn't realize that Philly had the holiday display windows too -- I've been to see NY's several times but never to Philadelphia's. Very pretty and the Dickens show is unique - I've never seen one like that before. Thanks for sharing.

New York does spectacular windows... but it's nice to have Philadelphia traditions...:cool1:

(sorry for the randomness of my comments, I've learned that multi quoting can take a really long time so I just make notes as I read & then seem to ramble on in my comments. )

Yes lol... I've had the same issue with multi quoting...

Well it is the best of times and the worst of times...

It is the best of times because I will be able to catch up on Dis and read my subs and do replies and even an update...

But it is the worst of times because I feel getting out of the car yesterday, I fell...landing on my butt... it wasn't too bad yesterday but I woke up this morning and OUCH... my lower back... it HURTS really bad...BAD... so I am taking a rest day and praying that with some ibuprofen and Tiger Balm and the heating pad it will be feeling all better soon...:worship: (I can't actually make the movement right now... so the smilie will have to do it for me...)

OH NO! I hope that your back is feeling better soon.

Luckily all mended :)

Rome :artist: so jealous!

I am getting very excited... little less that 6 weeks...:cool1:

why yes, yes you could! Just wait till later in my TR!

Have to come over and check up on your TR today... haven't been on boards in about a week...:sad2: Are you staying at the AKL for a romantic getaway? ;)

You were Brave. Kali. In Jeans!

I know I hadn't even thought about it...:confused3 I was good by lunch...

Oh my.

I am :rotfl2: abou tthe BBQ chicken comment!

Yes... I'm going to keep up on David's lunch schedule... I may have to have a lunch date with him next BBQ chicken day...

Does Jamie Oliver have to visit David's school? ;)
You know, the public schools in Canada don't have a lunch program. I think of that on occasion when I run out of apples, yogurt, and bread all on the same morning. :scared1:

YES I think we might have a need to have Jamie's Food Revolution come to David's school...:lmao: (actually I would love to meet JO) I think his programs are fabulous...:thumbsup2 I think all is probably well at David's school but I still think I may have to check in one day at lunch...;)

I was so far behind but I'm all caught up now!!:thumbsup2

I really enjoyed your updates!! Yay for meeting Phineas and Ferb! They are such a fun meet and greet! We really enjoyed the Animation Academy despite the fact the CM moved very quickly and looking at our pictures I think there were a few things we may have missed. Overall, a fun time though...

I think that the AA experience does vary quite a bit based on on the CM... but it is definitely worth trying...:thumbsup2

Great Boardwalk pictures!! Creepy chairs...I have never seen them before. Oooh...those cupcakes look very yummy!!:thumbsup2

The cupcakes were very yummy...:goodvibes

The Osbourne Lights look amazing and I love your matching scarves...so cute!!

Thanks I love those scarves... I knew when I bought them at the Disney Store on clearance that they'd come in handy...;)

Yay for braving Kali! Ugh...on getting soaked....especially in jeans.

it was kind of yucky...

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope you feel better really soon.:goodvibes

Thank you ...right as rain...:goodvibes

Great updates!

So glad you like the lights. They are one of my favorites at Christmas time. I just love taking my time and looking at everything there. Did you see the purple cat?

NO! I missed the cat... hmmm... will have to go back to see...:thumbsup2

Love your glow cubes in your drink. How festive. Must try that sometime.

(Especially walking around in the Studios at night...)

Fantasmic is my favorite show on property but once every so often is fine with me. You do get your exercise going into the theater and coming out. :)

Oh my you do get in your exercise getting in and out of the theatre...

I have never done Kali in the fall. I hate to be wet when it is a tad cool out. :worship: Very impressed with you for doing so. Hope you dry off before Everest.

Hmmm... not 100 % dry for Everest... but much closer...;)

OK, that is kinda scary that BBQ Chicken Day smells like burning logs! :lmao:

Funny but yes possibly scary too... I think I need to check out the lunch situation...:scratchin

Great updates!

We didnt make it on Kali this time around (well, my oldest DS did -- when the temp outside was about 50 degrees :rolleyes2)

BBQ chicken day at school smell -- I will have to remember that next time we ride :lmao:

Wow it got a little nippy... I hope He DIDN'T get wet...:confused3

Yes we haven't had BBQ since he said that but we do like it and I think that the next time we have it... I might crack up...:lmao:

I am always the one who gets soaked, while everyone else as a few drops on them - so I feel your pain! lol I will only ride that as the last ride of the day because I always need to go back and change my clothes.

That's usually why I pack those rain ponchos... but I just forgot about all of that...;)

I am slowly catching up after my week off last week due to illness and too busy at work.

I'm glad you're feeling better...:goodvibes Isn't it annoying when work and "real" life interfere with Dising... I think so...;)

It is absolutely gorgeous... I'd like to see another kingdom or land in there (and NOT the Avatar land they've been talking of...

I do remember the walk to Kali is much longer than the actual ride itself. Sorry you got so wet...but at least it was warm out. And I will be honest and say I laughed at your picture when you were getting "hit." :)

It was funny... more so after it happened but I can laugh at myself and the photo is pretty funny...:goodvibes

:rotfl2:

It was wet but good fun when all was said and done... I'll be sure to wear shorts next time around...:scratchin

Wow what a wait for Kali! hahaha, I am cringing though just thinking of wet jeans. DH and I avoided Kali when we were there in November (2010) because I couldn't stand the thought of being wet. It's not so bad when it's sweltering hot out!

No I think it would be a bit of a pleasure in the summer....:cool2:

Ohhhhh! Nice!! That's a really nice little camera, one of my favourites for sure. They do a beautiful job on auto ;) :thumbsup2

I'm really excited to be getting it...:goodvibes

Wow I hadn't thought of it pointing to the Starbucks in that one. The funnest was some of the comments on the Facebook page for the mall. There were ones asking when it blasts off. They actually used to have something that looked much more normal.

But decided to go with something different last year.

I've got coffee on the brain... but I do agree it does have a certain... aeronautical look to it... maybe to get to the North Pole to see Santa Quickly...? ;)

I've been known for wearing the ponchos too on occasion...:rolleyes1

Love the M-trek (too early to spell it).

and I need a cup of coffee right about now...:lmao: but yes it's really lovely... so many awesome, photogenic details...the tigers are such gorgeous animals... if you get up close to the windows... it's cool to see how large their paws are... like bigs kittens but not quite...;)

Yeah for a new camera!

I'm so psyched...:yay:

Fun update!

Thanks...:goodvibes

Hahaha I'm not sure I would have braved Kali first thing in the morning - although we always used to race to Splash Mountain first thing, so I guess it's pretty much the same thing! Agreed, that ride is way too short though! The first time I rode it, I definitely had a "this is it?" moment. :rotfl:

I guess it's a pick your preferred method of getting drenched...:rotfl: I have to work up to the drop on Splash...;) I do wish Kali was at least a minute of two longer...

LOL at the squint-into-the-sun photo…I have way too many of those, but usually I’m the snapper, not the snapee!

I've been guilty of taking a few squintee photos myself...;)

I am SO with you on the Disney Dash. It’s a necessary evil…one that I’m all too happy to delegate and then reap the rewards!

Sigh yes... I'm not a big fan of the stampeding ... I do think that TSM Dash at the Studios is the worst... but as long as no one gets hurt...but I draw the line at blood and such...;)

Rome! It’s on my bucket list…I hope you’ll share photos (taken with your new camera, of course)!

I am really, really excited...:yay: and why yes I would be happy to shared some photos... I think I'll do a Pretrip Report for our summer Disney trip and include in a bit of our week in Rome... hmmm... need to think up some good Disney/Italian connections... Pinocchio? The spaghetti and meatball scene in Lady and the Tramp? I'll have to work on it a bit...:rotfl:

IMHO, AK doesn’t get enough love. It really is eye candy in a different way than the other parks…completely immersive, and, yes, romantic.

It really is eye candy and quite romantic...

Score on the Kali wait time! You poor thing, getting soaked like that, but I guess it’s the risk you take when you board the raft. I seldom make it out unscathed!

It is the risk and there are plenty of warnings but you don't think they mean you...:rotfl:

This is a great photo! :rotfl:

Thanks..:goodvibes I am to please... lol...

I love that photo of you about to get drenched. Only because when I look at it, I see someone thinking, "Why me?!" :rotfl: It definitely looks like you got soaked, though, so I hope you were able to dry fairly quickly, since it was December and had to be a little chilly out.

Actually that is pretty much what I was thinking...:rotfl2: It got up into the high 70s so I really did dry off by lunch...

:goodvibes

Yes It's definitely a place to take time and smell the roses... and that's what I like about it too... It's probably not going to be your favorite if you just want headliners...

Great Update!

Thanks...

I laughed so hard at this update!

The photo of you getting wet on Kali was hilarious, DH wants me to go on Kali this summer and I hate to get wet in the park even in the summer! That could have been me! very funny!

Yes it's much more funny to me now that I have some perspective... It's fun... you should go...;)

Then, bbq chicken day smells like that! Haha!

Too Funny!

:goodvibes

Yeah I just remembered that BBQ chicken comment when I wrote this... I do have to check on that...:rolleyes1

I love seeing pictures of the Kali ride...that is one I haven't made it to yet. I just hate walking around totally drenched, so I plan to hit it on the way out and it just never works out. Next trip I hope to make it a 10 day trip and have a full 2 days at each park. I plan to hit everything...even the soaking Kali River Rapids :scared:

Oh that photo of you on Kali is funny...BUT I feel your pain! It's so likely that the one person that doesn't want to get wet, always gets drenched! I have done this ride ONCE...it really is a beautiful ride though, I wish they would extend it a bit.

Oh it's a lot of fun... I wish I was even longer... if it's hotter out... you'll try off faster especially if you wear shorts... also there are always those plastic rain ponchos...:rolleyes1

Yeah there's that moment right before the water hits and you just know...;) It was fun though and I do wish it was longer... Did you do Grizzly River Rapids at CA? (can't remember if you did) but that's def a bit longer...
