How much would it cost for you to make a lap quilt sized quilt. Or how much would you sell one for?

Our movers lost a box that had a quilt my godmother made my son. I need to file the claim with a price. I'm not ready to tell her yet that it was lost.

I would have to know more specifically the size, but if it was meant for a baby to lay on, I'd charge about $50. I would depend on the pattern too. Just blocks much easier, triangles (I hate them) would be more. Do you have a picture? But $50 is a good ball park for a baby quilt.

It is bigger than a baby quilt but not twin sized. Maybe the size of a toddler bed but square. I don't have a photo. We moved in June and it was from his birthday in May.

I'm SO angry it is unbelievable. They also lost a Disney collectable that is nearly impossible to replace. It's a big company with fabulous reviews. Ugh.

It depends. If you are using basic fabrics from Joann's (not great quality) or if you are using designer high quality quilt shop grade fabrics.... the former could run $3 a yard, the latter, $10-$12 a yard.

A 45X60" quilt would use approximately 5-6 yards of fabric minimum, more depending on how big the pieces in the quilt are (smaller pieces take more fabric because there are more seams). My friend does commission quilts, and she charges about $350 for a 45X60 quilt. You 'can' get one for a lot less, but it depends mostly on the intracacy of the design, the density of the quilting, the fabrics and batting used, etc.

Unfortunately, the mover's insurance company is probably going to cost it out like a 'blanket' that you could buy anywhere, without the sentimental/artistic value accounted for UNLESS you've had it appraised previously.
