What would you suggest as some restaurant suggestions for dining with seniors? My MIL has a tendency to get overstimulated with lots of noise. Any meal suggestion is appreciated!!

Thanks!

In the resorts, Citricos at the GF, Artist Point at WL, Jiko at AKL, Yachtsman's Steakhouse at Y&B Club come to mind. Victoria & Albert's is very subdued if you would enjoy a fine dining experience.

For quiet dining in the parks, Hollywood Brown Derby and Mama Melrose at MGM are both quiet spots as is Le Bistro de Paris in EPCOT. Lunch and dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table is rather quiet too.

Almost any place can be particularly noisy if you dine at the wrong time of day... I recommend selecting your dining times during more off peak hours for quiet meals in almost any restaurant, even if you go at the very start or end of a traditional rush time (11-1 for lunch, 6-8 for dinner)... The places we stay away from because of the atmosphere and noise/light levels are Chefs de France and Alfredos in EPCOT, and watch the entertainment schedule for Mexico. The restaurant there is lovely, but if the Mariachi band is playing inside it can be a bit overwhelming.

Some favorite quiet places at MK would be upstairs at the Columbia Harbor House (fast food but good), in Cosmic Rays there is an area near the salad/sandwich stand back against a wall that doesn't get too much traffic, they have an outside patio too... At MGM I love SciFi, the movies and atmosphere are fun although some don't love the food. Also Backlot Express, wander around a bit before you go get your food, there are many quiet corners in there, and nice music (TV theme songs).

We loved Le Cellier in Epcot (Canada). We ate lunch at the restaurant and were seated when it opened. At that time it was not crowded. The seating area seemed smaller than some of the restaurants and the atmosphere very calm and soothing--dark and cool. I found it very relaxing.

I agree with a previous poster...timing is everything. We have preschoolers with us, and they wake up VERY early. So we tend to lunch early, and eat dinner early, and things are quieter...which is less stimulating to them as well. We all know how overstimulated preschoolers can get at Disney World!

I also recommend Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club and Brown Derby at MGM. If you want something less formal than the Steakhouse, there is a bar/lounge next to it that serves appetizers and lighter dinners, and is pretty quiet and cozy. I actually really enjoy this spot.

Coral Reef in Epcot is also relatively quiet. I find the restaurant in Mexico to be noisy and sort of overstimulating myself - mainly, I think, because the tables are so close together. But I've never been there when it wasn't crowded, so I could be wrong.

Haven't eaten at Flying Fish at Boardwalk, but when I've stuck my head in, it looked fairly low key. Also V& A is quiet, but I'm not sure what dining level you're looking for. I fear we're all giving you fairly nice/expensive locales - but with anything less at Disney, you're going to find LOTS of kids, and hence, more noise.

Maybe something at the Swan and/or Dolphin? Swan/Dolphin fans out there?

Good luck, and have fun!

I agree with most of what the above posters said, except Jiko, Mama Melroses, and the Yachsman can get all get very loud depending on where you are seated.

Citrico's, V&A's, and Artists point are probably the three quietest places we've dined at WDW.

Some of our favorites as far as getting away:

Yachtsman Steakhouse, Brown Derby, Liberty Tree Tavern, LeCellier. All of these have little nooks etc. that can kind of shield you from the park crowds.

As for fast food consider Columbia Harbor House. There is an upstairs bridge room that is often empty when we are there and away from the crowds downstairs.

At Pinocchio Village Haus in MK there is an upstairs seating area too - that can be a nice place to take a break. There are a couple windows that look into Its a Small World - cute and Disney but still quiet and you can't hear the song.

Again, if you go at an off time, Kona Cafe can be very relaxing. It's open to the Poly resort lobby area, but we found it enjoyable and quiet when we dined there...not too many people.

My favorite out of the way place at WDW is the Sand Trap over at the Bonnet Creek Golf Club (just past Ft Wilderness). You have to drive, but it is my personal favorite quiet place to eat and unwind.

They serve breakfast and lunch (until3PM or so). We often go for a late lunch (after 1:30). (you get a great deal with the Q&C vouchers there too)

Beautiful, peaceful view of the golf course and pond. Dine inside or out...all with wonderful views, no crowd, quiet and I feel like I am a thousand miles away from the theme parks. Incredibly friendly wait staff.

Even when the parks are wild it is calm and quiet there. Great food too!!

It's worth the little trip over there.

Jiko has a wine room. We were lucky enough to be seated there with my hard of hearing DFIL and DF and they could hear and participate in the conversations. I would reccommend it.

At off hours, Kona is very quiet and peaceful.

Marrakesh in Epcot is usually pretty peaceful.

Olivia's at OKW is a good bet ,too.

In addition to those already posted, at the Animal Kingdom, my husband and I like to eat at Flame Tree Barbecue - they have outside seating in little pavilions by a lake that can be peaceful and beautiful, especially if a breeze is blowing. All the seating is outdoors, but if the weather is nice, this place can't be beat.

Keep in mind that its Disney, so a quiet restaurant can get noisy when you end up seated next to a party of twenty with several young children. Happened to us at Marrakesh - a restaurant we normally love and find relatively subdued.

I'd echo the Sand Trap suggestion, and add Palio to the dinner list. It's relatively quiet by WDW standards.
As for the Brown Derby--it used to be a place for a nice quiet meal, but Fantasmic has changed all that. Now when we go anywhere near Fantasmic show times, it's pure bedlam.

We like the Maya Grill at the Coronado Springs Resort. Very nice and very quiet! In fact , we think it is a gem that has not been found by a lot of people yet!
