Quiet room at Hojo

I just made my reservations with Howard Johnson for November and I requested a quiet room, but when I asked the man what building I was in he didn't know. So my question is, do I tell them I want a quiet room when I get there? If he doesn't know what building I'm in how would he know that I'm in a quiet room? So I'm thinking that I don't request that until I get there, am I right?
Thanks everyone.

Edit: What I mean by quiet room is no highway/freeway noise

We are booked there for November too! We reserved a top floor park view room. I know if you want a quiet room just make sure you ask for one that does not face the freeway.

For the $54 rate you got, get Building #2 facing the quiet pool! I didn't hear a single noise the entire time we were there (It was October and no one swam at all in the quiet pool) It is VERY quiet!

Yeah but do I request this when I check in? When I made my reservations through the 1-800 number the guy didn't know what building I was in so do I request the quiet room when I check in or should I call back and tell them again that I want a pool side room?

oooh you're from Calgary too! What days are you going to there? We're going from the 12th to 21st. We're hoping to bypass both the veterans day crowds and the thanksgiving day crowds but we'll see.

I noticed the HoJo website has been listing rooms as to whether or not they face the freeway. I'm sure a quiet room will get you away from the freeway, so that's probably what he booked you in, but it could be in any one of several buildings.

The only freeway rooms should be the freeside of bldg 1 and freeway side of building 2. Everything else (including all of 3, 4, 5 & 6) should face pool or garden. Building 1 non-freeway will be themepark view.

It doesn't hurt to clarify your request though. You can explore the HoJo Anaheim website to see which building you specfically want and request that. If you select "Room Layouts" you'll get a .pdf file that shows their many configurations and which buildings have them.

If you do go with the premium room, you should end up with building one facing the theme park so it will not face a freeway!! Just have them note on your reservation that you would like building one (the tallest at 7 stories high) facing DL. I have never had a problem with noise in there!!

Nov is our fav time to go. We usually book the second and third week. Holidays are busy but the weekends are the worst when locals use the park. This year dh is fllying down on the 11th for the SPE conference and then I am joining him on the 14th to the 17th just dh and I no kids :yay:
Call the hotel directly at 714-776-6120 and ask for a room that is not by the freeway or you can upgrade to a park view room in bldg 1 which is what we did. If you get a high enough floor you get a nice view of the fireworks also.

Thanks ladies! For some reason I thought building one was the noisy building, if it's not which one is the noisy one? We stayed in building one last time and I had no problem with noise but from what I was able to tell it looked like building one was the closest to the freeway, but I guess not? Anyways, thanks guys and I'm going to recall them tomorrow and try to get the entertainment card rate and I'll make sure I"m in building one!

I also wanted to say that we too like to book the second and third weeks in November. We're going for a nine day trip this year because we're coming right in between two holidays so if the park is busy at least we'll have some extra days to make sure we get everything done that we want to. It sucks that Veterans day falls on a monday this year at least when trying to plan a trip to disneyland for a fairly quiet week. Anyways, hopefully I'll see you there!

Yes building one is closest to the freeway, but if you are facing the park then it won't affect you noise wise...

Bldg 2 is very quiet.. good if you like the slower pace, quiet rooms. The pool there is usually empty.

I sleep better with noise, Bldg 1 all the way for me!! :lmao:

Keep in mind.. some rooms have skylights. If you nap during the afternoon ,or bothered by early morning light, you may want to request no skylight.

So far I have had Bldg 2... quiet as a tomb with a Home office room (free upgrade).
Started requesting Bldg 1.. theme park view had skylight, upgraded to a Home office room facing the park, and latest was a King room facing freeway with a skylight.
Freeway and skylight was not a good combo.. I think this time around I will ask for no skylight. Don't need Home Office room this time.. just DS and I in June.

Theme park view is very nice... we walked out onto the balcony each morning to see the Matterhorn. Look and see how crowded the pool was before going downstairs..

I haven't been in any of the other bldgs... are those only double beds?? hmmm time to look at the web site..

OK I checked.. yep 3,4,5 double beds only.

He is the sales manager at HoJo's , very nice and friendly to Disney fans. He's kinda the HoJO guru person listed on Laughingplace web site.

Yes I have stayed in 3 and 5 and can verify they are only double beds. I am trying to decide where I want for June, but can't decide! It's only me and the kids so double beds don't bother me at all!

Building 1 facing the freeway is the noisy one like FunnyG said!! But facing the park you can only hear freeway noise out on the patio but that's anywhere there!!

We just got back from DL and we were in Bldg #2 facing the pool on the 4th floor. Extremely quiet room and the pool was great!
