Quiet Place at Hollywood Studios?

We leave for Disney tomorrow morning... and my teenage daughter just received an e-mail requiring her to do a job interview (via facetime) on Saturday morning. Ugh! She really wants this job and didn't want to ask to reschedule, so she needs to either do it at the hotel or find a quiet place at Hollywood Studios. This a quick 4-day trip, so I really, really don't want to kill a half day at the hotel. (The interview is between 10:30 and 11 a.m.) Can anyone suggest a quiet place at Hollywood Studios where we could go? Suggestions appreciated!!!

Outside the gift shop EXIT of Tower of Terror.
There's a coffee kiosk there and a few places to sit.
Usually quiet.

To get there, just walk past the ToT entrance gates (they will be on your left as you pass by)
and keep walking a bit farther "around the bend" to the outdoor coffee area.

Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage is closed for refurbishment. Maybe she could go over in that area? It is shaded. Or, on the walkway outside Tower of Terror, like you are heading up towards Fantasmic. I’d think she should avoid anywhere by TSL or around the other side by Muppets - busy and may be noisy due to Star Wars construction. Also avoid outside Indiana Jones show bc sound effects are loud. I hope it works out!

Thank you! We’ll check that out.

Inside Pizza Rizzo? When we've walked by, it seems nobody is in there.
Harsh but true.

I would def recommend that your daughter quickly explain the situation in case there is background noise or whatnot. If I was interviewing I'd be really impressed that a teen chose not to reschedule while on a vacation.

Personally, I'd do it at the resort. My luck would be that someone would come up behind me and do something silly. Also, the resort is the only place that is guaranteed to be on the quiet side. Who is to say that some poor mom is looking for a "quiet place" in the park to calm down her over-stimulated child who is screaming and crying? Regardless of what you decide, I hope things work out and she gets the job!

I'm perhaps more conservative in hiring/interviewing situations than younger generations and my thinking may be out of date here, but I'd vote resort too just for background noise and environment control.

If in the parks, while it will probably be OK, the quiet corner of the park (if you can find one) may not have great Wifi or cell service to support a good quality Facetime call, so I'd maybe keep on eye on that part of it as well.

Good luck to your daughter.

Good point. Thank you!

I know you’re right... I just hate missing half a day in the parks for a summer job. Bad mamma!

I agree. I’m usually very practical and conservative, except when it comes to Disney! It is for a summer camp job, so I guess I’m not taking it as seriously as I should. I appreciate your perspective.

The exit gate area for Fantasmic is also pretty quiet. There is a half wall that she can sit on.

And, have her explain where she is at the start of the interview. If the managers interviewing are good, they'll understand.

I would look at this as a learning opportunity and opt for the resort. As much as I love WDW, and as much as I would not want to lose 1/2 day for an interview that may take less than 30 minutes, I would never place my DD in the position of explaining that she stopped her day in a theme park for a job interview. The problem with fitting the interview in while in the park is that your DD will have absolutely no control over her surroundings, may be nervous to begin with and the background may make it worse, and you never know how a hiring professional will view the entire process. Competition for summer jobs can be fierce and I would not want my DD to believe an interview for a nice temporary position is disposable if something better comes up, or that it is acceptable to squeeze it in. There are some quiet areas in the nearby resorts that she could go to interview if staying at your home resort is not possible.

If it really is going to be impossible to work it into your schedule, I would suggest your DD call and ask if it would be possible to move the interview to before she leaves because of plans scheduled prior to the appointment was made that are beyond her control.
.

I work in HR and agree she needs to clarify to the employer that she is away on vacation and outside so there will be background noise. Thinking this is not a career job due to her age and maybe something more like a summer or p-t job? so think it's ok to try to do it in the park especially if it's only 30 mins. I was just at HS and the Beauty show was still on (I saw it) so be sure if she chooses to sit at the Fantasmic entrance, it's not during any performance in that theatre as you would definitely hear it. I would also suggest she mute her phone when she is not talking to aid in noise. Another area we found that was more quiet was Baseline Tap House (sat at a table outside at the outer edge)... Good luck to her!

This may be a silly question, but are you staying on-site? There's no reason why you can't go to the parks while she does the facetime interview from the hotel room and then she can meet up with you later.

I'm assuming she's an older teen 15+.

How about down by where Starring Rolls is? There are tables, and as the shop is not open anymore, it may be a good spot.

This was my first thought too. She could just meet you later.

My second thought was, call now and for her to say she'd be on vacation. Tell them that it is no problem if that is the only time possible, but if they are able could they reschedule for another time. If I was an adult and wanted a job I wouldn't do this (well, honestly, depending on the situation I may), but being a teenager looking for a summer job I think it'd be ok to ask. I really don't know the situation though, and if a job like this will be a great opportunity that will help her in the future for a career.
