Just got back from my 3yr old's first trip to Disney. Had a very nice time though it was a bit much for him.

Had the meal plan and thought we'd eat with the big shots for a change;

Ate at:

Crystal Palace character bkfst: Delicous!!! Mickey makes a good bkfst. Will do it again.

Biergarten: Sausage lovers heaven! Pretzel rolls were great, beer flight was fun to try, entertainment was neat and involving. Favorite meal of the trip by far. Will do it again.

Counter svc. at chicken place in AK: Fantastic chicken!!! 2nd best meal of the trip!!! Will do it again.

Coral Reef, Hoop Dee Doo, Sci Fi, Hollywood & Vine....... Disney should be ashamed of themselves. Food was overcooked, ribs were tough, steak was marginal, shrimp were small and stingy, etc. etc. The food at Disney in general is crap and prices are WAY out of line. The word 'chef' does not apply to anyone working at any of the above mentioned places. I've had better food at parking lot carnivals in the middle of nowhere.

I'd say a fair comparison for Mickey food would be Bonanza (or any random truck stop). During the planning stages i couldn't understand why anyone would bother to eat at Rainforest Cafe when in Disney. Now i understand. Mickey should just get out of the food business (because he is such a greedy little *******) and let the chains do it.

On a positive note we were there for the food/wine festival and i greatly enjoyed that aspect of it. Spent one evening walking the park and trying various combos (food/wine/beer) from the stands.

My wife and I had been giving some consideration to cruising with Mickey (vs. Celebrity as we have in the past) and have nixed that idea based on the food we ate on this trip. Mickey is sooooo greedy that he insists on serving truck stop slop to his guests and it really is dissapointing.

Thanks for taking the time to write the reviews.

Sorry to hear you had so many disappointing meals :sad2:

We love CP, too :thumbsup2 .

Do you happen to remember the cost of the beer flight at Biergarten? TIA

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointments. I didn't like Coral Reef all that much either, but I have to say I'd rather eat there than Rainforest Cafe anyday. Something about that place just doesn't appeal to me!

Beer flight was $10 for 4 6oz servings. I thought it was a neat idea as i was in the mood to try some different things.

Thanks for the beer flight info. We are on the DDP, but I think my husband will really enjoy it. (I'll add it to my oop list ;) )

Thanks for the reviews - I think Tigger makes breakfast at Crystal Palace though ;)

Sorry you had some disappointing experiences. I may try and persuade our party to try Biergarten next trip - I love the sound of it :thumbsup2

Hi erik, thanks for the honest reviews! I am looking forward to Biergarten as my family really misses Germany! Would you say the food was authentic?

Unfortunately I think well be hearing more dissapointing reviews as the prices and quality gap keep growing.

Thanks for the reviews. We ate at Biergarten and Crystal Palace this summer and were pleastantly surprised at how much we liked them. We also ate at Sci-Fi. We will go back, but only for appetizers, shakes, and desserts. I haven't been to the others except Hoop De Doo and that was over 10 years ago. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy them.

The DCL really is nice! The restaurants were good, except for Palo and it was great! I didn't like the buffets. It is especially good for families. I like the fact there is no casino on board, which makes a nicer atmosphere for the kids.

I'm with you on Coral Reef and Hoop de Doo, i think you are supposed to be paying for the show there:sad2: But very pleased you weren't dissapointed with Crystal Palace, it is the best breakfast on property by a mile:thumbsup2

Good to hear the cruise line is a step up. If i'm on a cruise the last thing i want to see is a buffet so no worries on that.

Was the German food authentic at Biergarten? I dunno, haven't been to Germany-yet. Any time you grind up pork and stuff it into a casing i am going to be happy camper and Biergarten did that in several different ways!

No need for thanks on the reviews folks, i just wanted to add my perspective. seems there are quite a few cool-aide drinkers on the boards and i think Mickey needs to be called out on a few things in an effort to keep him honest! Disney does so many things soooooo well (rides, clean parks, landscaping, hotel theming, etc) but i feel like they are being mislead by bad management when it comes to the food service portion of the package. Anybody who has been on a Celebrity cruise knows for fact that fantastic food CAN be prepared and served to a large number of people in a short timeframe. Disney, for now, just chooses NOT to do this in the interest of profits. I will continue to visit Disney with my family but will not be lining their pockets with my hard earned money when it's mealtime (with a few exceptions as noted earlier).
