Quickest Way to get an AP in order to book AP rate?

Hi All,

I'm considering getting an AP, if AP rates come out for late June this year and there isn't a good public discount. I will wait until AP rates are actually out so - what is the quickest way to get an AP? I would need a number or something? To use before the AP is actually activated?

I've never had one for Disney World before so hope y'all can explain it to me.

Thanks very much!

You do not need the actual AP to get the discount on the phone, you will just need either the voucher or the AP when you check into the resort.
The only time you need the AP or voucher for booking, is if you want to book on line.

Oh good, thanks!

I thought I had to give the CM a voucher number to even make the ressie, like when they ask for your AAA number. That makes life a whole lot easier!

Thanks again :)

Do not buy that AP until you see the rates. If you're only buying your AP for the room rates, you need to wait. Last June and July there were no AP rates on the value and moderates and none on the deluxes on the monorail. The only June and July AP rates were on DVC resorts and Epcot delux resort. Maybe this year might be different, so all you can do is wait and see. If resorts are filled, no discounts will be needed.

Thanks, I realize that. I plan to go this summer, a couple of days in December and during our kid's next Spring Break. It's kind of a toss up whether an AP will be worth it in admissions alone. I'll just have to wait and see about room rates!

Hi, looks like you're planning the same as me. We're thinking of DH getting one AP, and booking 2 rooms with the discount (hoping!)

I think we'll book a room only, just to make sure we have one, then wait for AP discounts. If they do, we'll try to book 2 new ressies, then cancel the old one, and get our AP. The DDE saves 20% at most TS, so no DDP is req'd.

Amazing how much calculating is required! Have a good trip!:hippie:

I believe I read somewhere that you can actually wait until you get there to purchase your AP from any Guest Services location. If you don't have it yet when checking in, you just need to tell them your next stop is to buy the AP. You would just need to show it to them before you check-out to make sure the rate is not converted to a non-AP one. Maybe someone else can confirm this as well.

I did almost this. Booked the room with AP discount. Purchased the AP exactly 1 day before arrival online. Checked in the late the following evening and was not even asked for the AP. Picked up the AP's the next morning just before entry to AK.
